Edmonton Oilers v. Florida Panthers – 8p ET – Game 6

• In a pivotal Game 6 in Florida, the Edmonton Oilers look to stay alive and force a Game 7, but the Panthers look to clinch things to earn their second consecutive Stanley Cup, and in the first period Sam Reinhart would strike early to give the Panthers the 1-0 lead. Then with 47 seconds left in the period, Matthew Tkachuk scored to grow the Panthers lead to two. In the second period, Reinhart would deflect the puck into the net for his second of the game to give the Panthers the commanding 3-0 lead. Then in the third period, a desperate move by the Oilers costs them as Reinhart scores on the empty net to complete the hat trick with 6:34 remaining in regulation, and then with 5:05 remaining in regulation Reinhart with another empty netter to give the Panthers the 5-0 lead. Vasily Podkolzin would score for the Oilers, but the Panthers would take Game 6 with the 5-1 victory over the Oilers to win the series 4-2 and claim their second consecutive Stanley Cup.
  
  Panthers forward Sam Bennett was named the winner of the Conn Smythe Trophy.

Florida Panthers v. Edmonton Oilers – 8p ET – Game 5

• With the series back in Edmonton for Game 5, the Oilers look to continue their momentum as they host the Florida Panthers, and in the first period Brad Marchand opened the scoring for the Panthers to take the 1-0 lead, and then Sam Bennett scored on a broken play for his 15th of the playoffs and to give the Panthers the 2-0 lead. Then after a scoreless second period, Marchand would net his second of the game to grow the Panthers lead to three, but Connor McDavid would respond with his first goal of the series to get the Oilers back within two. However, Sam Reinhart would score to retake the three goal lead for the Panthers, but while the Oilers would get a goal from Corey Perry, Eetu Loustarinen’s empty netter would give the Panthers the 5-2 victory over the Oilers to take the 3-2 series lead.

Edmonton Oilers v. Florida Panthers – 8p ET – Game 4

• In Florida for Game 4, the Edmonton Oilers look to bounce back after being embarrassed in Game 3 and send the series against the Panthers back home tied at two, and in the first period the Panthers dominated the Oilers as Matthew Tkachuk opened the scoring with a pair of powerplay goals, and then an Oilers defensive breakdown would allow Anton Lundell to score to give the Panthers the 3-0 lead.
  
  In the second period, the Oilers would claw their way back into this one as Ryan Nugent-Hopkins opened the scoring while on the powerplay to get the Oilers on the board. Then tallies from Darnell Nurse and Vasily Podkolzin would tie the game at three for the Oilers. In third period, Jake Walman scored late in the period to give the Oilers the 4-3 lead, but with the goalie pulled, Sam Reinhart scored with 19.6 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 4, and send the game to overtime for the Panthers.
  
  Then in the extra frame, Leon Draisaitl scored his fourth overtime winner of the playoffs to give the Oilers the 5-4 victory over the Panthers to tie the series at two.

• On Monday, June 9th, Washington Capitals forward TJ Oshie announced his retirement from the NHL.
  • Oshie played 16 seasons for the St. Louis Blues (7 seasons) and Capitals (9 seasons), playing in 1,010 regular season games.
  • Oshie is a one-time NHL All-Star (w/ WAS), and won the Stanley Cup in 2018 (w/ WAS).

Edmonton Oilers v. Florida Panthers – 8p ET – Game 3

• In Florida for Game 3, the Panthers look to continue with the momentum as the series comes home as they host the Edmonton Oilers, and in the first period, Brad Marchand opened the scoring for the Panthers in the opening minute of the game, and then late in the period while on the powerplay, Carter Verhaeghe scored to give the Panthers the 2-0 lead in what was a penalty filled first period.
  
  In the second period, Corey Perry would strike on the powerplay to get the Oilers on the board and back within one less than two minutes into the period, but 80 seconds later, Sam Reinhart would score to reclaim the two goal lead for the Panthers. Moments later, Sam Bennett scored his 14th of the playoffs to give the Panthers the 4-1 lead.
  
  Then in the third period things got spicy as Aaron Ekblad scored on the powerplay to give the Panthers the 5-1 lead, and end Stuart Skinner’s night in net for the Oilers. After that, things exploded for a combined 124 penalty minutes between the two teams seeing a fight and eight misconducts amongst the penalties. Evan Rodrigues would score a powerplay goal amongst the chaos to give the Panthers the 6-1 victory over the Oilers to take the 2-1 series lead.

• On Thursday, June 5th, the NHL announced that Sean Monahan was named the Bill Masterton Memorial Award winner. Johnny Gaurdeau’s widow, Meredith, surprised Monahan with the announcement.

• On Friday, the Dallas Stars announced that they dismissed Peter DeBoer as Head Coach. DeBoer had been head coach since the 2022-23 season.

• In Edmonton, the Oilers look to take the 2-0 series lead against the Panthers. In the first, Sam Bennett scores his 13th of the postseason on the power play but then Evander Kane evens the ice with his sixth. Evan Bouchard then scores his seventh to put Edmonton up 2-1 but then a goal from Seth Jones, his fourth, to tie the game 2-2. Leon Draisaitl then puts Edmonton back on top with a power play goal, his 10th goal of the playoffs. In the second, Florida tied the game once more when Dmitry Kulikov scored his second of the postseason and then Brad Marchand scored a shorthanded goal to give the Panthers the 4-3 lead. In the third, Corey Perry scored his eighth goal of the playoffs with 18 seconds left to tie the contest. In the second overtime, Brad Marchand scores his second goal of the contest as the Panthers even the series with the Oilers with the 5-4 win.

• The National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players Associcaiton announced that Tampa Bay F Nikita Kucherov won his second Ted Lindsay award. Kucherov led the league in points, assists, primary assists and player points.

• In Edmonton, the Panthers and Oilers faceoff for Lord Stanley. In the first, Leon Draisaitl scores his eighth goal of the postseason just 1:06 into the period to give Edmonton the 1-0 lead. Florida then ties the game when Sam Bennett scores his 11th goal of the postseason. Brad Marchand then goes on to net a power play goal, his fifth goal of the postseason, to put the Panthers up 2-1. In the second period, Sam Bennett scored his second of the night at to put the Panthers up two but then Viktor Arvidsson scored his second goal of the postseason to bring the Oilers within a goal at 3:17. In the third, Mattias Ekholm ties up the game with his first goal of the postseason at the 6:33 mark. In the overtime session, Leon Draisaitl scored the game winner, his second goal of the night, on a power play with 31 seconds left to give the Oilers the 4-3 win as they take Game 1.

  • This is the third Selke win for Barkov making him the 7th player to do so.

• On Monday, June 2nd, forward Jesper Fast announced his retirement.
