Edmonton Oilers v. Dallas Stars – 8p ET – Game 5
- Back in Dallas for Game 5 of the Western Conference Final, the Edmonton Oilers look to duplicate what the Florida Panthers did the night before, and advance to the Stanley Cup Final by eliminating the Stars, and in the first period Corey Perry struck early on the powerplay to give the Oilers the 1-0 lead, and Mattias Janmark scored less than five minutes later to grow the Oilers lead to two. The Stars would pull Jake Oettinger and put Casey DeSmith in net, but Jeff Skinner score his first career playoff goal to give the Oilers the 3-0 lead. Later in the first period, Jason Robertson scored to get the Stars on the board and back within two.
In the second period, the Stars would push back against the Oilers and apply pressure for a good stretch of the period, and Roope Hintz would score on the powerplay to get the Stars back within one, but two minutes later Connor McDavid scored on a breakaway to reclaim the two goal lead for the Oilers. Then in the third period Robertson scored his second of the game to get the Stars back within one again, but a lucky bounce for Evander Kane would retake the two goal lead for the Oilers. To finish off the Stars, Kasperi Kapanen would get the empty netter to give the Oilers the 6-3 victory over the Stars to advance to the Stanley Cup Final for a rematch with the Florida Panthers.
