Calgary Flames v. Detroit Red Wings – 5p ET
In the Motor City, the Red Wings welcome the Flames and in the first period Detroit takes the 1-0 lead when Alex DeBrincat scores his sixth of the year and then Joe Veleno’s third of the year gives the Red Wings the 2-0 lead. In the second, Dylan Larkin’s third of the year puts Detroit up three but then Calgary gets on the board when Andrew Mangiapane strikes with his third of the year. Alex DeBrincat then scores his second of the night to give Detroit the three goal lead back but then the Flames respond with Yegor Sharangvoich’s first of the season. Then in the third, Jake Walman nets his first of the year to give Detroit the 5-2 lead and then Alex DeBrincat completes the hat trick as the Red Wings wash out the Flames for the 6-2 win.
In Anaheim, the Ducks welcome the Bruins to town and after two scoreless periods, the scoring starts when Mason McTavish strikes with his second of the year to put Anaheim up 1-0. Then, Boston scores three straight when Matthew Poitras scores two, his first goal being his first career NHL goal, and then Brad Marchand scores an empty net goal, his fourth of the season, as the Bruins down the Ducks 3-1.

Detroit Red Wings v. Ottawa Senators – 1p ET
In Ottawa Alex DeBrincat would return to take on his former team as the Detroit Red Wings would visit to take on the Senators, and in the first period Jake Sanderson would strike for the Sens to get on the board first, but Shayne Gostisbehere would score to tie the game at one for the Wings. In the second period Joe Veleno and David Perron would score to give the Wings the 3-1 lead. Then in the third period Dylan Larkin would score and Veleno would net his second of the game to give the Wings the four goal lead, but Ridley Greig would score to get the Sens back into it. However, the Red Wings would hold on to defeat the Senators 5-2.
In Arizona the Coyotes would play host to the Anaheim Ducks for their home opener, and in the first period Jason Zucker would open up the scoring for the Yotes to take the 1-0 lead. In the second period Clayton Keller would score to grow the Yotes lead to two. Then in the third period Frank Vatrano would score for the Ducks to get them on the board, but it would not be enough as the Coyotes would hold on for the 2-1 victory over the Ducks.
In Buffalo the Sabres would don their Goat Head jerseys for the first time this season as they host on the New York Islanders, and after a scoreless first period Jeff Skinner and Mattias Samuelsson would score to give the Sabres the 2-0 lead. Then in the third period Dylan Cozens would score to grow Buffalo’s lead to three, but Noah Dobson would score to get the Isles on the board. However, the Sabres would hold on to defeat the Islanders 3-1.
In Florida for Pink in the Rink night, the Panthers would play host to the Vancouver Canucks, and in the first period Quinn Hughes would open up the scoring for the Canucks with a powerplay goal, but Aleksander Barkov would strike to tie the game at one for the Panthers. In the second period Carson Soucy would score his first goal as a Canuck and Elias Pettersson would score to give them the 3-1 lead. Then in the third period Sam Reinhart would net a pair of goals for the Panthers, but goals from Andrei Kuzmenko and Brock Boeser would give the Canucks the 5-3 victory over the Panthers.
In Montreal for Hockey Night in Canada the Washington Capitals would come to town to battle the Canadiens, and late in the first period Sean Monahan would score on the powerplay to give the Habs the 1-0 lead. In the second period Brendan Gallagher would score to grow the Habs lead to two. Then in the third period Dylan Strome would net his first two goals of the season to tie the game at two and send the game to overtime for the Caps. However, in the extra frame Cole Caufield would score his third of the season to give the Canadiens the 3-2 overtime victory over the Capitals.
Toronto Maple Leafs v. Tampa Bay Lightning – 7p ET
In Tampa Bay the Lightning would take on the Toronto Maple Leafs in a rematch of last season’s first round playoff series, and in the first period William Nylander would open up the scoring for the Leafs, but a pair of goals from Nikita Kucherov and a tally from Alex Barre-Boulet would give the Bolts the 3-1 lead. Then after a scoreless second period Matthew Knies would net a pair of goals to tie the game at three for the Leafs to send the game to overtime. In the extra frame the Leafs would get to complete their comeback as John Tavares would score to give the Maple Leafs the 4-3 overtime victory over the Lightning.
Vegas Golden Knights v. Chicago Blackhawks – 8p ET
In Chicago the Blackhawks would do their home opener against the Vegas Golden Knights, and in the first period Connor Bedard would strike on the powerplay to give the Blackhawks the 1-0 lead, but William Karlsson would score to tie the game at one for the Knights. In the second period both teams would trade tallies as Jonathan Marchessault would strike for the Knights and Reese Johnson would score for the Blackhawks for the 2-2 tie. Then in the third period Corey Perry would score for the Blackhawks, but Nicolas Roy, Mark Stone, and Paul Cotter would score for the Golden Knights to take the 5-3 victory over the Blackhawks.
In Dallas the Philadelphia Flyers would come to town to take on the Stars, and in the first period Wyatt Johnston and Tyler Seguin would strike to give the Stars the 2-0 lead, but goals from Joel Farabee and Travis Konecny would tie the game at two for the Flyers. In the second period Roope Hintz would score to give the Stars their lead back at 3-2. Then in the third period Jamie Benn would score to give the Stars the two goal lead, but goals from Konecny and Sean Walker would tie the game at four for the Flyers to send this game to overtime. Then in the extra frame it would be Joe Pavelski with the game winner as the Stars would survive the Flyers 5-4.
In Minnesota the Wild would take it back to 1978 with their look as they host the Columbus Blue Jackets, and in the first period Justin Danforth would score to take the 1-0 lead for the Jackets. In the second period Kent Johnson would score to grow the Jackets lead to two, but a pair of goals from Dakota Mermis and Mats Zuccarello would tie the game at two for the Wild. Then in the third period Jonas Brodin would score to give the Wild the 3-2 lead, but Boone Jenner would score to tie the game at three for the Jackets. Then Adam Fantilli would net his first career NHL goal for the Jackets to take the lead, but Marcus Johansson would score to tie the game at four for the Wild to force overtime. Then in the extra frame Jack Roslovic would strike to give the Blue Jackets the 5-4 victory over the Wild.
In Nashville the Predators would play host to the San Jose Sharks, and in the first period Samuel Fagemo would strike to give the Preds the 1-0 lead. In the second period Tommy Novak and Kiefer Sherwood would score to grow the Preds lead to three. Then in the third period Novak would net his second of the game to give the Preds the 4-0 lead, but Tomas Hertl would score to get the Sharks on the board and end the shutout bid. However, Luke Evangelista would score to give the Predators the 5-1 victory over the Sharks.
In St. Louis the Blues would go retro as they face the Pittsburgh Penguins, and in the first period Brandon Saad would open the scoring to give the Blues the 1-0 lead, but Evgeni Malkin would score to tie the game at one for the Pens. In the second period Jake Neighbors and Colton Parayko would score to give the Blues the 3-1 lead. Then in the third period Saad would net his second goal of the game for the Blues, but Radim Zohorna would score to get the Pens back within two. However, it would not be enough as the Blues would go on to defeat the Penguins 4-2.
It was a Friday Chill Day in the NHL as the Blue Jackets and Devils would be victorious in what would be a rather quiet day.

In Columbus the Blue Jackets would play host to the Calgary Flames, and after a scoreless first period Sean Kuraly would score his first of the season to give the Jackets the 1-0 lead. Then in the third period Justin Danforth would score to grow the Jackets lead to two, but Elias Lindholm would score while shorthanded for the Flames to cut their deficit back to one. However, the returning Zach Werenski would get the empty netter to give the Blue Jackets the 3-1 victory over the Flames.
Then on Long Island the New York Islanders would take on the New Jersey Devils, and Brock Nelson would open up the scoring for the Isles, but with a minute left in the period Dougie Hamilton would strike on the powerplay to tie the game at one. In the second period both teams would trade tallies as Tyler Toffoli would net his first goal as a Devil while on the powerplay and Luke Hughes would strike on the powerplay as well for the Devils, but goals from Brock Nelson and Bo Horvat would tie the game at three for the Isles. Then in the third period The Devils would get their fourth powerplay goal of the game as Jack Hughes would score to give the Devils the 4-3 lead, but Horvat would net his second of the game to send the game to overtime tied at four for the Isles. In overtime Jack Hughes would net his second of the game to give the Devils the 5-4 victory over the Islanders.
It would be a busy Thursday night of action in the NHL as we would be treated to 12 games which would feature some fun matchups.

Calgary Flames v. Buffalo Sabres – 7p ET
In Buffalo, the Sabres welcome the Flames to Western New York for the lone time this season and in the first period Calgary takes the 1-0 lead when Jonathan Huberdeau scores his second goal of the season but then Buffalo responds with Erik Johnson’s first of the year to tie the contest 1-1. Then, Walker Duehr’s first goal of the year gives the Flames the lead once again but Tage Thompson’s first of the year ties the game once again for the Sabres. After the scoreless second period, Blake Coleman’s goal, his first of the season, gives Calgary the lead once again but then JJ Peterka’s second of the year gives Buffalo yet another tied up game. Then, Adam Ruzicka’s second goal on the season gives the Flames the 4-3 win over the Sabres.
In South Florida, the Panthers host the Maple Leafs and in the first period Florida gets a pair of goals when Kevin Stenlund nets his first of the year and then Oliver Ekman-Larsson scores his first of the year to give the Panthers the 2-0 lead. In the second, Toronto gets on the board when Mitchell Marner nets a power play goal, his first goal of the season. Then in the third period, Sam Reinhart’s fourth goal of the year, a shorthanded and empty net goal, gives the Panthers the 3-1 win over the Maple Leafs.
In New York City, the Rangers host the Predators for the lone time this season and in the first period Nashville gets a pair of goals from Cole Smith to give the Preds the 2-0 lead. In the second, Ryan O’Reilly and Filip Forsberg each score a power play goal, their second and first goal on the season respectively, to give Nashville the commanding 4-0 lead. But then, Adam Fox gets New York on the board with his first of the year on the power play. However, the New York comeback will fall short as the Predators take down the Rangers with the 4-1 victory.
In Tampa Bay, the Lightning host the Cancuks and in the first period Nicolas Paul’s third of the year on the Lightning power play gives the Bolts the 1-0 lead. In the second, Brock Boeser’s fifth of the year, just 14 seconds into the period, ties the contest at one goal a piece. Then, Tyler Myers scores his first of the year as the Canucks take the 2-1 lead. Then, Michael Eyssimont’s first of the year will tie the game for Tampa Bay and then Nikita Kucherov’s third of the year gives the lead back to Tampa Bay. As this contest shifts to the third, Nikita Kucherov scores his second of the night, a power play goal, to give Tampa Bay the 4-2 lead but then Vancouver’s J.T. Miller goes on to score his second goal of the year. However, Tampa Bay escapes as the Lightning get the 4-3 win over the Canucks.
In South Philadelphia, the Flyers host the Oilers and in the first period Joel Farabee’s second of the year give the Flyers the 1-0 lead. In the second, Cam Atkinson socres his second of the year to put Philadelphia up 2-0 but then Zach Hyman’s second of the year brings Edmonton within a goal. Then, Sean Walker’s first of the year, on a Phialdelphia power play, give the Flyers the 3-1 lead. Then in the third, Cam Atkinson’s second of the night gives the Flyers the 4-1 lead and win over the Oilers.
In Minnesota, the Wild look to knock the crowns of the Kings and in the first period Los Angeles would take the 1-0 lead with Carl Grundstrom’s second of the year however Minnesota ties the contest when Connor Dewar nets his second of the year. Then, Kirill Kaprizov’s second of the year gives Minnesota the 2-1 lead but then Vladislav Gavrikov’s second of the year ties the game for the Kings. Then, Pierre-Luc Dubois strikes with a pair of goals to give Los Angeles the 4-2 lead. After a scoreless second, Trevor Moore scores his fourth of the year to give the Kings the three goal lead but then Joel Eriksson Ek score his fourth to bring Minnesota within two. Then, Adrian Kempe scores an empty netter, good for his first goal of the season to put the Kings up three and then Blake Lizzote scores an empty netter of his own, while shorthanded, as the Kings breeze by the Wild for the 7-3 win.

In the third, Jason Zucker’s power play goal, his first goal of the year, put Arizona up four but the Sammy Blais first of the season cuts the Arizona lead to three. Then, Sean Durzi’s second of the year on a Arizona power play gives the Coyotes a 6-2 win over the Blues.
In Winnipeg, the Jets host the defending Stanley Cup champion Golden Knights and in the first Winnipeg takes the 1-0 lead Alex Iafallo scores his second of the year but then Vegas gets on the board thanks to Jonathan Marchessault’s second goal of the year on the man advantage. In the second, Vegas takes the 2-1 lead when Brett Howden scores his first of the year and then the Golden Knights take the two goal advantage when Alec Martinez scores his first of the season. Then, Winnipeg’s Cole Perfeti nets his first to bring the Jets within a goal. IN the third, Alex Iafallo nets his second of the night on the Winnipeg man advantage to tie the contest but then Jack Eichel scores his tird of the night on the Vegas man advantage to make it a 4-3 Vegas lead and then Nicolas Roy’s second of the year, an empty netter, gives the Golden Knights the 5-3 win over the Jets

In Detroit the Red Wings would take on the Pittsburgh Penguins, and in the first period Evgeni Malkin would score 53 seconds into the game to give the Pens the 1-0, but Alex DeBrincat would score to tie the game at one for the Wings. In the second period Ben Chiarot, Andrew Copp, and David Perron would score to give the Wings the 4-1 lead. Then in the third period Erik Karlsson would net his first as a Penguin and Bryan Rust would score to cut their deficit to one, but Copp and DeBrincat would both net their second goals of the game to give the Red Wings the 6-3 victory over the Penguins.

Vancouver Canucks v. Philadelphia Flyers – 6p ET
In Philadelphia the Flyers would host the Vancouver Canucks for their home opener, and in the first period Egor Zamula would score his first career NHL goal 1:45 into the game to give the Flyers the 1-0 lead. Then later in the period Sean Couturier would score on a penalty shot to give the Flyers the 2-0 victory over the Canucks. Carter Hart would make 25 saves to earn his sixth career shutout.
In Montreal the Canadiens would take on the Minnesota Wild, and in the first period the Wild would record a pair of shorthanded goals in a span of 25 seconds as Brandon Duhaime and Connor Dewar would score to give the Wild the 2-0 lead. In the second period Tanner Pearson would score for the Habs, but powerplay goals from Joel Eriksson Ek and Kirill Kaprizov would give the Wild the 4-1 lead. Then in the third period Eriksson Ek would score his second powerplay goal of the game to give the Wild the 5-1 lead. Alex Newhook would score for the Habs, but it would not be enough as the Wild would go on to defeat the Canadiens 5-2.

In the second period Brandon Hagel would score to get the Bolts on the board and cut their deficit to one. Then in the third period with eight seconds left Hagel would net his second of the game to force overtime for the Bolts. However, 1:46 into overtime Dylan Cozens would score to give the Sabres the 3-2 victory over the Lightning.

In the second period Tommy Novak would score to get the Preds on the board, but Draisaitl would net his second powerplay goal and Warren Foegele would strike to put the Oilers up by five. After a scoreless third period the Oilers would go on to defeat the Predators 6-1.
In Winnipeg the Jets would play host to the Los Angeles Kings, and after a scoreless first period former Jet Pierre-Luc Dubois would score his first goal as a King and Trevor Moore would score to give them the 2-0 lead. Then in the third period Mark Sceifele would score for the Jets, but Arthur Kaliyev would score, Moore would net his second of the game, and Phillip Danault would score while on the powerplay to give the Kings the 5-1 victory over the Jets.
All teams will have their final rosters set by December 11th.
They must include 23 players signed to Standard Player Agreements, plus two Reserve Player Contracts.

Then in the third period Reinhart would score his second of the game to grow the Panthers lead to four, but the Devils would finally respond as Erik Haula, Michael McLeod, and Jesper Bratt would score. however, it would not be enough as the Panthers would go on to defeat the Devils 4-3.
At Madison Square Garden the Arizona Coyotes would come to town to battle the New York Rangers, and in the first period Chris Kreider would score to give the Rangers the 1-0 lead. In the second period Clayton Keller would strike on the powerplay to tie the game at one for the Yotes. Then in the third period the Rangers would get a powerplay goal of their own as Vincent Trocheck would score to give them the 2-1 victory over the Coyotes. However, it would end with some feistiness as we would see 66 minutes in penalties doled out to finish the game.
In Toronto the Chicago Blackhawks would continue their road trip to open up the season as the visit the Maple Leafs, and after a scoreless first period John Tavares would score for the Leafs, but goals from MacKenzie Entwistle, Corey Perry, and Tyler Johnson would give the Blackhawks the 3-1 lead. then in the third period Taylor Raddysh would get the empty netter to give the Blackhawks the 4-1 victory over the Maple Leafs.
In Washington the Capitals would look to get themselves into the win column for the first time this season as they take on the Calgary Flames, and in the first period Adam Ruzicka and Dillon Dube would score to get the Flames on the board first and with the 2-0 lead. In the second period the Capitals would finally respond as Matthew Phillips would score his first career NHL goal against his former club, and then Connor McMichael would score, with Phillips recording his first career assist, to tie the game at two. Then after a scoreless third period and overtime session, it would be Evgeny Kuznetsov with the shootout winner to give the Capitals the 3-2 victory over the Flames.
Today the National Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of October 10th through 15th and Auston Matthews dual hat tricks shine as he takes top honors.
First Star – Auston Matthews (C – TOR)
Auston Matthews would become the fifth player in NHL history to open up the season with a hat trick in each of his two first games. Matthews would also become only the second person since the League’s inaugural campaign of 1917-18 to accomplish the feat. Matthews would open up the season with a hat trick against Montreal in a 6-5 shootout victory for the Toronto Maple Leafs on Oct. 11th. Then on Oct. 14th against Minnesota he would record his second hat trick in a 7-4 victory. Matthews would also reach the 300 goal plateau with his first goal in the game against Montreal.

Second Star – Elias Pettersson (C – VAN)
Elias Pettersson would record a goal and five assists for six points in two games played for the Vancouver Canucks as they would open their season with a home-and-home sweep of the Edmonton Oilers. Pettersson would record a goal and three assists as he would be one of three Canuck players to record four points (Brock Boeser – 4g, JT Miller – 1g 3a) in an 8-1 victory over the Oilers on Oct. 11th. then on Oct. 14th Pettersson would record two assists in a 4-3 win over Edmonton.

Third Star – Evgeni Malkin (C – PIT)
Evgeni Malkin would record two goals and four assists for six points in three games played for the Pittsburgh Penguins. After being held off of the scoresheet in a 4-2 loss to Chicago on Oct. 10th, Malkin would record a goal and three assists in a 4-0 victory over Washington on Oct. 13th. Then to close out his first week of the season, Malkin would record a goal and an assist in a 5-2 victory over Calgary on Oct. 14th.

In Ottawa, the Senators welcome the Lightning to the Canadian capital and in the first period, Ottawa takes the 1-0 lead when Vladimir Tarasenko nets his first goal of the season, as well as his first goal as a Senator. In the second, Tampa Bay will tie the game up when Anthony Cirelli strikes with his first goal of the season but then Ottawa re-takes the lead with Brady Tkachuk’s third goal of the season. Then, the Lightning respond when Tanner Jeannot gets his first of the year to make this a 2-2 game but then Mathieu Joseph’s second of the year gives the Sens the lead for good. In the third, Brady Tkachuk’s second of the night puts Ottawa up 4-2 and then Tim Stützle’s second goal, with a Tampa Bay empty net, gives the Senators the 5-2 win over the Lightning.
In Anaheim, the Ducks welcome the Hurricanes for the lone time on the season and in the first Anaheim gets a trio of goals when Sam Carrick, Frank Vatrano, and Pavel Mintyukov all get their first goals of the season. In the second period, Carolina gets on the board when Teuvo Teravainen gets his third goal of the season but then Frank Vatrano strikes with his second of the night to give the Ducks the three goal lead once more. As this contest shifts to the third period, Carolina gets a pair of power play goals when Teuvo Teravainen gets his second of the night and then Martin Necas gets his first goal of the year, as the Canes come within a goal. Then Cam Fowler gets his first of the year on an empty netter to give Anaheim the 5-3 lead and then Frank Vatrano completes the hat trick as the Ducks go on to double up the Hurricanes for the 6-3 win.
Saturday’s hot action in the NHL would feature hat tricks and a lot of firsts as we’d see a lot of fun games take place.

Philadelphia Flyers v. Ottawa Senators – 1p ET
In Ottawa the Senators would play host to the Philadelphia Flyers for their home opener, along with celebrating a Claude Giroux milestone, and in the first period Jakob Chychrun would net a pair of goals to give the Sens the 2-0 lead, but Travis Konecny would strike on the powerplay to get the Flyers back within one. In the second period Jake Sanderson would score to get the Sens back up by two, but Cam York would score 18 seconds later to bring the Flyers back within one again. However, Brady Tkachuk would score to regain the two goal lead once again. Then in the third period Tkachuk would net his second of the game while on the powerplay to give the Senators the 5-2 victory over the Flyers.
In Winnipeg the Jets would play host to the Florida Panthers, and in the first period Mark Scheifele would open the scoring for the Jets, but Sam Reinhart would score late in the period to tie the game at one for the Panthers. In the second period Evan Rodrigues would strike to give the Panthers the 2-1 lead, but goals from Kyle Connor, Morgan Barron, and Dylan DeMelo would give the 4-2 lead to the Jets. Then in the third period Mason Appleton would score to grow the Jets lead to three, but a tally from Carter Verhaeghe and Rodrigues’ second of the game would get the Panthers back within one. However, Connor would net his second of the game to give the Jets the 6-4 victory over the Panthers.
In Boston the Nashville Predators would come to town to face the Bruins, and in the first period Colton Sissons would score to get the Preds on the board first, but James van Riemsdyk would score his first goal as a Bruin to tie the game at one. In the second period David Pastrnak would score for the Bruins on a penalty shot, but Sissons’ second of the game would tie the game at two for the Preds. Then in the third period van Riemsday would net his second of the game to give the Bruins the 3-2 victory over the Predators.
In Columbus the Blue Jackets would play host to the New York Rangers, and in the first period Erik Gustafsson would net his first goal as a Ranger to take the 1-0 lead less than a minute into the game, but a pair of goals from Boone Jenner would give the Jackets the 2-1 lead. In the second period Jenner would strike again to complete the natural hat trick and a tally from David Jiricek would net his first career NHL goal to give the Jackets the 4-1 lead. then in the third period Will Cuylle would net his first career NHL goal and Chris Kreider would score for the Rangers, but Justin Danforth would score to secure the 5-3 victory for the Blue Jackets over the Rangers.
In Detroit the Red Wings would take on the Tampa Bay Lightning, and in the first period Daniel Sprong would open the scoring for the Wings, but Steven Stamkos and Brandon Hagel would score to give the Bolts the 2-1 lead. However, Alex DeBrincat would score to tie the game at two. In the second period Stamkos would net his second of the game for the Bolts, but Lucas Raymond would strike and JT Compher would score his first as a Wing to give Detroit the 4-3 lead. Then in the third period Victor Hedman would net his first of the season for the Bolts, but goals from DeBrincat and Moritz Seider would give the Red Wings the 6-4 victory over the Lightning.
In Montreal the Canadiens would play host to their Original Six rival Chicago Blackhawks as Connor Bedard would make his Hockey Night in Canada debut, and after a scoreless first period Cole Caufield would open the scoring to give the Habs the 1-0 lead, and then Tanner Pearson would score his first as a Hab and Sean Monahan would score to grow their lead to three. Then in the third period Tyler Johnson would net a pair of goals for Chicago, but it would not be enough as the Canadiens would hold on to defeat the Blackhawks 3-2.
In Pittsburgh the Penguins would play the second game of their back to back as they would host the Calgary Flames, and after a scoreless first period Matt Coronato would score his first career NHL goal to give the Flames the 1-0 lead. Then in the third period The Pens would score four straigh goals as Bryan Rust, Reilly Smith, Jake Guentzel, and Evgeni Malkin would score to give them the 4-1 lead. While Jonathan Huberdeau would score for the Flames, Rust’s second goal of the game would give the Penguins the 5-2 victory over Calgary.
In Toronto for a Hockey night in Canada matchup the Maple Leafs would take on the Minnesota Wild, and in the first period the Wild would strike first with a Ryan Hartman tally, but a pair of goals from Auston Matthews and a goal from William Nylander would give the Leafs the 3-1 lead. In the second period Tyler Bertuzzi would score his first goal as a Leaf to grow their lead to three, but goals from Matt Boldy and Marco Rossi (first career NHL goal) would get the Wild back within one. Then in the third period Brandon Duhaime would score fort he Wild, Calle Jarnkrok would score along with Matthews completing the hat trick and Nylander netting his second of the game as the Maple Leafs would go on to defeat the Wild 7-4.
In Long Island the New York Islanders would have their home opener as they would host the Buffalo Sabres, and in the first period Brock Nelson and Kyle Palmieri would score to give the Isles the 2-0 lead. In the second period Jordan Greenway would strike for the Sabres to get back within one. Then in the third period Casey Mittelstadt would score to tie the game at two for the Sabres, but Casey Cizikas would net his first of the season to give the Islanders the 3-2 victory over the Sabres.
In St. Louis the Blues would take on the Seattle Kraken in their home opener, and after a scoreless first period Jaden Schwartz would open the scoring for Kraken, but Jordan Kyrou would score to tie the game for the Blues. Then after a scoreless third period and overtime it would be Robert Thomas with the shootout winning goal to lead the Blues to a 2-1 victory over the Kraken.
