- The NHL Department of Player Safety has announced that they have suspended Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson.
- Andersson has been suspended for four games for charging Columbus Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine on Friday night.
- Andersson will forfeit $94,791.68 per the CBA and based on his average annual salary.

Game Recaps

Detroit Red Wings v. Ottawa Senators – 1p ET
- In Ottawa Alex DeBrincat would return to take on his former team as the Detroit Red Wings would visit to take on the Senators, and in the first period Jake Sanderson would strike for the Sens to get on the board first, but Shayne Gostisbehere would score to tie the game at one for the Wings. In the second period Joe Veleno and David Perron would score to give the Wings the 3-1 lead. Then in the third period Dylan Larkin would score and Veleno would net his second of the game to give the Wings the four goal lead, but Ridley Greig would score to get the Sens back into it. However, the Red Wings would hold on to defeat the Senators 5-2.

Anaheim Ducks v. Arizona Coyotes – 4p ET
- In Arizona the Coyotes would play host to the Anaheim Ducks for their home opener, and in the first period Jason Zucker would open up the scoring for the Yotes to take the 1-0 lead. In the second period Clayton Keller would score to grow the Yotes lead to two. Then in the third period Frank Vatrano would score for the Ducks to get them on the board, but it would not be enough as the Coyotes would hold on for the 2-1 victory over the Ducks.

New York Islanders v. Buffalo Sabres – 7p ET
- In Buffalo the Sabres would don their Goat Head jerseys for the first time this season as they host on the New York Islanders, and after a scoreless first period Jeff Skinner and Mattias Samuelsson would score to give the Sabres the 2-0 lead. Then in the third period Dylan Cozens would score to grow Buffalo’s lead to three, but Noah Dobson would score to get the Isles on the board. However, the Sabres would hold on to defeat the Islanders 3-1.

Vancouver Canucks v. Florida Panthers – 7p ET
- In Florida for Pink in the Rink night, the Panthers would play host to the Vancouver Canucks, and in the first period Quinn Hughes would open up the scoring for the Canucks with a powerplay goal, but Aleksander Barkov would strike to tie the game at one for the Panthers. In the second period Carson Soucy would score his first goal as a Canuck and Elias Pettersson would score to give them the 3-1 lead. Then in the third period Sam Reinhart would net a pair of goals for the Panthers, but goals from Andrei Kuzmenko and Brock Boeser would give the Canucks the 5-3 victory over the Panthers.

Washington Capitals v. Montreal Canadiens – 7p ET
- In Montreal for Hockey Night in Canada the Washington Capitals would come to town to battle the Canadiens, and late in the first period Sean Monahan would score on the powerplay to give the Habs the 1-0 lead. In the second period Brendan Gallagher would score to grow the Habs lead to two. Then in the third period Dylan Strome would net his first two goals of the season to tie the game at two and send the game to overtime for the Caps. However, in the extra frame Cole Caufield would score his third of the season to give the Canadiens the 3-2 overtime victory over the Capitals.

Toronto Maple Leafs v. Tampa Bay Lightning – 7p ET
- In Tampa Bay the Lightning would take on the Toronto Maple Leafs in a rematch of last season’s first round playoff series, and in the first period William Nylander would open up the scoring for the Leafs, but a pair of goals from Nikita Kucherov and a tally from Alex Barre-Boulet would give the Bolts the 3-1 lead. Then after a scoreless second period Matthew Knies would net a pair of goals to tie the game at three for the Leafs to send the game to overtime. In the extra frame the Leafs would get to complete their comeback as John Tavares would score to give the Maple Leafs the 4-3 overtime victory over the Lightning.

Vegas Golden Knights v. Chicago Blackhawks – 8p ET
- In Chicago the Blackhawks would do their home opener against the Vegas Golden Knights, and in the first period Connor Bedard would strike on the powerplay to give the Blackhawks the 1-0 lead, but William Karlsson would score to tie the game at one for the Knights. In the second period both teams would trade tallies as Jonathan Marchessault would strike for the Knights and Reese Johnson would score for the Blackhawks for the 2-2 tie. Then in the third period Corey Perry would score for the Blackhawks, but Nicolas Roy, Mark Stone, and Paul Cotter would score for the Golden Knights to take the 5-3 victory over the Blackhawks.

Philadelphia Flyers v. Dallas Stars – 8p ET
- In Dallas the Philadelphia Flyers would come to town to take on the Stars, and in the first period Wyatt Johnston and Tyler Seguin would strike to give the Stars the 2-0 lead, but goals from Joel Farabee and Travis Konecny would tie the game at two for the Flyers. In the second period Roope Hintz would score to give the Stars their lead back at 3-2. Then in the third period Jamie Benn would score to give the Stars the two goal lead, but goals from Konecny and Sean Walker would tie the game at four for the Flyers to send this game to overtime. Then in the extra frame it would be Joe Pavelski with the game winner as the Stars would survive the Flyers 5-4.

Columbus Blue Jackets v. Minnesota Wild – 8p ET
- In Minnesota the Wild would take it back to 1978 with their look as they host the Columbus Blue Jackets, and in the first period Justin Danforth would score to take the 1-0 lead for the Jackets. In the second period Kent Johnson would score to grow the Jackets lead to two, but a pair of goals from Dakota Mermis and Mats Zuccarello would tie the game at two for the Wild. Then in the third period Jonas Brodin would score to give the Wild the 3-2 lead, but Boone Jenner would score to tie the game at three for the Jackets. Then Adam Fantilli would net his first career NHL goal for the Jackets to take the lead, but Marcus Johansson would score to tie the game at four for the Wild to force overtime. Then in the extra frame Jack Roslovic would strike to give the Blue Jackets the 5-4 victory over the Wild.

San Jose Sharks v. Nashville Predators – 8p ET
- In Nashville the Predators would play host to the San Jose Sharks, and in the first period Samuel Fagemo would strike to give the Preds the 1-0 lead. In the second period Tommy Novak and Kiefer Sherwood would score to grow the Preds lead to three. Then in the third period Novak would net his second of the game to give the Preds the 4-0 lead, but Tomas Hertl would score to get the Sharks on the board and end the shutout bid. However, Luke Evangelista would score to give the Predators the 5-1 victory over the Sharks.

Pittsburgh Penguins v. St. Louis Blues – 8p ET
- In St. Louis the Blues would go retro as they face the Pittsburgh Penguins, and in the first period Brandon Saad would open the scoring to give the Blues the 1-0 lead, but Evgeni Malkin would score to tie the game at one for the Pens. In the second period Jake Neighbors and Colton Parayko would score to give the Blues the 3-1 lead. Then in the third period Saad would net his second goal of the game for the Blues, but Radim Zohorna would score to get the Pens back within two. However, it would not be enough as the Blues would go on to defeat the Penguins 4-2.
