Game Recaps

Vancouver Canucks v. Philadelphia Flyers – 6p ET
- In Philadelphia the Flyers would host the Vancouver Canucks for their home opener, and in the first period Egor Zamula would score his first career NHL goal 1:45 into the game to give the Flyers the 1-0 lead. Then later in the period Sean Couturier would score on a penalty shot to give the Flyers the 2-0 victory over the Canucks. Carter Hart would make 25 saves to earn his sixth career shutout.

Minnesota Wild v. Montreal Canadiens – 7p ET
- In Montreal the Canadiens would take on the Minnesota Wild, and in the first period the Wild would record a pair of shorthanded goals in a span of 25 seconds as Brandon Duhaime and Connor Dewar would score to give the Wild the 2-0 lead. In the second period Tanner Pearson would score for the Habs, but powerplay goals from Joel Eriksson Ek and Kirill Kaprizov would give the Wild the 4-1 lead. Then in the third period Eriksson Ek would score his second powerplay goal of the game to give the Wild the 5-1 lead. Alex Newhook would score for the Habs, but it would not be enough as the Wild would go on to defeat the Canadiens 5-2.

Tampa Bay Lightning v. Buffalo Sabres -730p ET
- In Buffalo the Tampa Bay Lightning would come to visit and take on the Sabres, and in the first period Zemgus Girgensons and Jeff Skinner would strike to give Buffalo the 2-0 lead. In the second period Brandon Hagel would score to get the Bolts on the board and cut their deficit to one. Then in the third period with eight seconds left Hagel would net his second of the game to force overtime for the Bolts. However, 1:46 into overtime Dylan Cozens would score to give the Sabres the 3-2 victory over the Lightning.

Arizona Coyotes v. New York Islanders – 730p ET
- On Long Island the Arizona Coyotes would continue their road trip with a visit to the New York Islanders, and after a scoreless first period Mathew Barzal would strike on the powerplay for his first of the season to give the Isles the 1-0 lead. Then in the third period the Islanders would be able to keep the Coyotes off the board for the 1-0 victory.

Edmonton Oilers v. Nashville Predators – 8p ET
- In Nashville the Predators would welcome back Mattias Ekholm as the Edmonton Oilers would come to town, and in the first period Leon Draisaitl, Zach Hyman, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Connor McDavid would score to give the Oilers the commanding 4-0 lead. In the second period Tommy Novak would score to get the Preds on the board, but Draisaitl would net his second powerplay goal and Warren Foegele would strike to put the Oilers up by five. After a scoreless third period the Oilers would go on to defeat the Predators 6-1.

Los Angeles Kings v. Winnipeg Jets – 8p ET
- In Winnipeg the Jets would play host to the Los Angeles Kings, and after a scoreless first period former Jet Pierre-Luc Dubois would score his first goal as a King and Trevor Moore would score to give them the 2-0 lead. Then in the third period Mark Sceifele would score for the Jets, but Arthur Kaliyev would score, Moore would net his second of the game, and Phillip Danault would score while on the powerplay to give the Kings the 5-1 victory over the Jets.
