Today the National Hockey League has announced the Stars of the Month for the month of February 2024.
First Star – Auston Matthews (C – TOR)
- Auston Matthews would record 13 goals and seven assists for 20 points in 12 games played for the Toronto Maple Leafs for the month of February. Matthews would reach the 50 goal plateau in his 54th game of the season (Feb. 21st at ARI), which would make him the fastest since Mario Lemieux (50gp w/PIT) in 1995-96. February would also mark the second time this season Matthews would record back to back hat tricks this season.
Second Star – Connor McDavid (C – EDM)
- Connor McDavid would record two goals and 25 assists for 27 points in 12 games played for the Edmonton Oilers. McDavid’s 25 assists would be the most in the League for the month of February by any player, and would be the first to do so in a month since Mario Lemieux (8g, 28a, 36p in 12gp w/PIT) in December of 1992. McDavid would also record his 600th career NHL assist in the month of February.
Third Star – Igor Shesterkin (G – NYR)
- Igor Shesterkin would go a perfect 7-0-0 with a 1.72 goals against average, a .953 save percentage, and one assist in seven games played for the New York Rangers in February. Shesterkin’s seven wins would be the most by a goalie for the month of February.
