Welcome to the TXHT PHF Weekend Recap for the Weekend of Friday, January 27th and Sunday, January 29th, 2023, plus news coming out of the weekend.

Friday, January 27th, 2023
Game #1 – Montreal Force v. Connecticut Whale
- In the lone regular season game of the weekend the Connecticut Whale would play host the Montreal Force, and after a scoreless first period Melissa Samoskevich would open the scoring and Lenka Serdar would strike to give the Whale the 2-0 lead. Then in the third period Alexandra Labelle would score to get the Force on the board, but empty net goals from Caitrin Lonergan and Katerina Mrazova would give the Whale the 4-1 victory over the Force.

Sunday, January 29th, 2023
Game #1 – All-Star Weekend – Team USA v. Team Canada v. Team World
- In Toronto the PHF All Star festivities would take place, and in the first game we would see Team USA take on Team Canada. Both teams would score as Loren Gabel would open the scoring for the Canadians while Patti Marshall would score for the Americans for the 1-1 tie. In the shootout Brittany Howard would score to give Team Canada the 2-1 victory over Team USA.
- In the second matchup Team Canada would take on Team World, and while Loren Gabel would net her second of the All Star festivities for the Canadians, goals from Leah Lum and Denisa Krizova would give Team World the 2-1 victory over Team Canada.
- In the third game Team USA would take on Team World, and Fanni Garat-Gasparics would shine as she would net the hat trick for Team World to take the 3-2 victory over Team USA. Taylor Girard and Jillian Dempsey would score for the Americans in the loss.
- Then in the All Star Championship Game Team World would faceoff with Team Canada, and to open the scoring Fanni Garat-Gasparics would strike for Team World to take the 1-0 lead. A few minutes later Brittany Howard would score for the Canadians to tie the game at one, but Anna Kilponen would score for Team World to reclaim their one goal lead. Then later in the period Loren Gabel would net her third of the tournament and Jade Downie-Landry would score the winner as Team Canada would go on to defeat Team World 3-2 to claim the All Star Championship.

News and Notes
- For Team Canada, Boston Pride defender Kaleigh Fratkin would be named captain.
- Going into the All Star Weekend the captains would be announced.
Fratkin is now a 5-time All-Star and first-time captain. She’s played in all 8 PHF seasons accumulating 129 games to date which is the second most in league history. The 30-year-old from Burnaby, British Columbia is a 2-time Defender of the Year Award Winner ⭐️ pic.twitter.com/pueqYBqSd0

- Connecticut Whale forward Katerina Mrazova would be named captain for Team World.
Mrázová is the only player on Team World with PHF All-Star experience that dates back to the 2019 game in Nashville. The 30-year-old from Praha, Czechia has an extensive IIHF resume. She notably helped her country win bronze at the 2022 IIHF Women’s World Championship! ⭐️ pic.twitter.com/1BQiBjTAUw

- Forward Madison Packer of the Metropolitan Riveters would be named captain of Team USA.
Madison Packer will be making a record sixth All-Star appearance in Toronto and will serve as an All-Star captain for the second time following the 2020 event in Boston. The 31-year-old forward from Detroit, MI has now served as Riveters captain for four seasons. ⭐️ pic.twitter.com/1sGUlECCZM
