The PWHL kicks off Season 2 with a pair of matchups between Boston and Toronto, and Ottawa and Montreal.

Boston Fleet v. Toronto Sceptres – 2p ET

  • In the opening game of the 2024-25 PWHL season, the Toronto Sceptres hosted the Boston Fleet. In the first period Hilary Knight scored on the powerplay three minutes into the game to give the Fleet the 1-0 lead. However, later in the period Sarah Nurse would score shorthanded for the first jailbreak goal of the season to tie the game at one for the Sceptres. Then after a scoreless second period, Hannah Miller scored on the powerplay and Emma Maltais got the empty netter in the final two minutes of the game to give the Sceptres the 3-1 victory over the Fleet.

Ottawa Charge v. Montreal Victoire – 5p ET

  • Then in Montreal, the Victoire played host to the Ottawa Charge for an all Canadian matchup. In the first period Emily Clark scored to give the Charge the 1-0 lead. The second period would see things pick up scoring wise as Danielle Serdachny would strike to grow the Charge’s lead to two, but goals from Abby Boreen and Laura Stacey tied the game at two for the Victoire. However, before the second period ended, Tereza Vanisova scored to retake the lead for the Charge. Then in the third period Jennifer Gardiner scored her first career PWHL to tie the game at three for the Victoire to force overtime. After a scoreless overtime period it would be Marie-Philip Poulin with the lone shootout goal to complete the comeback victory for the Victoire 4-3.
