Today the Professional Women’s Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of January 1st through 7th.
First Star – Grace Zumwinkle (RW – MIN)
- grace Zumwinkle would record four goals for four points in two games played for Minnesota. In Zumwinkle’s professional debut she would record the game winning goal in a 3-2 victory over Boston on Jan. 3rd. Then on Jan. 6th Zumwinkle would record the first hat trick in PWHL history to give Minnesota the 3-0 victory over Montreal.


Second Star – Alex Carpenter (C – NY)
- Alex Carpenter would record two goals and an assist for three points in two games played for New York. In the first ever game in PWHL history Carpenter would record an assist on the first ever goal in PWHL history and then would score a goal in a 4-0 victory over Toronto on Jan. 1st. Then on Jan. 5th Carpenter would record a goal in a 3-2 loss to Toronto.


Third Star – Corinne Schroeder (G – NY)
- Corinne Schroeder would make history as she would earn both the first victory and shutout in PWHL history. On Jan. 1st Schroeder would make 29 saves to earn the 4-0 shutout victory for New York over Toronto. This is the second consecutive season Schroeder has recorded a shutout to open a season. She did it for the Boston Pride of the PHF during the 2022-23 season, which also saw her record three straight shutouts to start that season.
