Yesterday’s results…

 

Philadelphia 6, BUFFALO 2

The Philadelphia Flyers would score six unanswered goals after being down 2-0 against the Buffalo Sabres and halt the Sabres home win streak at nine contests.

Philadelphia’s Claude Giroux would continue to make history in a Flyers uniform when he became the tenth player in Philadelphia Flyers history to have at least ten games in the regular season to have at least four points.

 

 

LOS ANGELES 5, Vegas 1

The Los Angeles Kings would go on to seal their first victory over the Vegas Golden Knights last night since the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs last spring.

 

BOSTON 6, Toronto 3

The Boston Bruins would go on to defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs by the score of 6-3.

OTTAWA 2, Pittsburgh 1 (OT)

Ottawa’s Ryan Dzingel would go on to seal the win for the Senators in the overtime frame.

 

NY Islanders 3, DETROIT 2

The New York Islanders would comeback in this contest after being down 2-0 to go on to defeat the Detroit Red Wings by the score of 3-2.

 

TAMPA BAY 7, Colorado 1

Tampa Bay Lighning’s Steven Stamkos would have a four-point performance, the 13th as a member of the Lightning.  This would also extend the record for most four-point performances in Tampa Bay Lightning franchise history.

 

 

The Lightning would extend their win streak to six contests, the longest active streak in the NHL.  Tampa Bay also has the best record in the league with a record of  23-7-1, good for 47 points.

 

Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon would also become the sixth player this season in the NHL to reach the 20-goal plateau.

 

 

NY Rangers 5, FLORIDA 4 (SO)

 

New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist would score his 61st NHL career shootout win with the 5-4 shootout win against the Panthers.

 

 

Washington 4, COLUMBUS 0

Washington’s Alex Ovechkin would go on to score his League-leading 22nd NHL goal in the Capitals 4-0 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

San Jose’s Lukas Radil became the oldest player since April 9th, 2015 to score his first NHL goal with the franchise since Bryan Lerg.

With Calgary’s win, they now hold sole possession of first place in the Western Conference.

NWHL

 

Yesterday’s NWHL contest was the Buffalo Beauts taking on the Connecticut Whale.

The Buffalo Sabres would go on to defeat the Connecticut Whale by the score of 3-1.

This would be the first home contest for the Buffalo Beauts in nearly two months and the second home game in the 2018-19 season.

This contest would mark the return to Buffalo for the Connecticut Whale’s Colleen Murphy, who joined the Whale after being added to the team on a Professional Try-Out agreement.  Murphy was a member of the Buffalo Beauts during the 2017-18 NWHL season.

The first period of the contest saw minimal shots on goal from both teams and both teams had to fend off multiple penalties.

Buffalo’s Julianna Iafalloo scored the first goal in the contest while Kelly Babcock and Dani Cameranesi getting the assists.

Buffalo would make the contest a 2-0 when Buffalo’s Hayley Scamurra would score.  Lissa Chesson and Kelly Babcock would register the assists on Scamurra’s goal.

Connecticut Whale’s Katerina Mrázová would score to give the Beauts the 2-1 lead.  The Whale’s Emily Fluke would register the assist on Mrázová’s goal at the 13:55 mark in the second period.

In the third period, Buffalo would put the game away for good when  Emily Janiga would score at the 10:18 mark.  Annika Zalewski would register the assist on the goal scored by Janiga to give the Beauts the 3-1 win.
