    News

    • The Montreal Canadiens announced that they have re-signed goaltender Sam Montembeault.
      • Montembault would sign a three year deal with an AAV of $3.15 million per season.

    • The New York Rangers unveiled their new third jersey.
      • The third jersey will be worn in 10 games at home, and is a navy base with multiple red, white, and blue stripes on the sleeves and base of the jersey.
      • The jersey features the Rangers shield logo as the main crest for the jersey.
      • The sleeves and socks emulate the lights of Madison Square Garden, and the collar has a subway tile design with “BLUESHIRTS” in the center of the collar.

    • The NHL announced that Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard has been named Rookie of the Month for November.

    • The NHL would announce that Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov has been named First Star for the month of November.
      • Cale Makar (COL) and Quinn Hughes (VAN) would round out the rest of the Three Stars.
    • NHL 3 Stars of the Month – Kucherov Produces for Top Honors

    • The New Jersey Devils announced injury statuses on two of their players.
      • Defenseman Dougie Hamilton was placed on IR retroactively to Nov. 28th due to a torn left pectoral muscle, and is out indefinitely.
      • Forward Tomas Nosek re-aggravated his right foot injury and underwent surgery. Nosek is also out indefinitely.

    • The NHL Department of Player Safety announced that they have suspended New Jersey Devils defenseman Brendan Smith.
      • Smith was suspended for two games for slashing Philadelphia Flyers forward Travis Konecny on Thursday night.
      • Smith will forfeit $11,458.34 per the terms of the CBA and based on his average annual salary.

    • The NHL Department of Player Safety announced they have fined Philadelphia Flyers forward Travis Konecny.
      • Konecny was fined $5,000 for cross checking New Jersey Devils defenseman Brendan Smith on Thursday night.
      • The fine is the maximum allowed per the CBA.

    Ottawa Senators v. Columbus Blue Jackets – 7p ET

    • In Columbus Joonas Korpisalo would return with the Ottawa Senators as they take on the Blue Jackets, and in the first period Claude Giroux and Brady Tkachuk would strike for the Sens, but goals from Patrik Laine and Dmitri Voronkov would tie the game at two for the Jackets. In the second period Adam Fantilli and Boone Jenner would score to give the Jackets the 4-2 lead. Then after a scoreless third period the Blue Jackets would hold on to defeat the Senators 4-2.

    San Jose Sharks v. New Jersey Devils – 7p ET

    • In New Jersey the Devils would play host to the San Jose Sharks, and in the first period Jacob MacDonald would strike first for the Sharks, but Dawson Mercer would score to tie the game at one for the Devils. In the second period MacDonald would net his second of the game and Anthony Duclair would score to give the Sharks the 3-1 lead. Then in the third period Jack Hughes and Ondrej Palat would score for the Devils, but Duclair would net his second of the game and goals from Mikael Granlund and William Eklund would give the Sharks the 6-3 victory over the Devils.

    NHL 3 Stars of the Month – Kucherov Produces for Top Honors

    Today the National Hockey League has announced the Stars of the Month for the month of November 2023.

    First Star – Nikita Kucherov (RW – TB)

    • Nikita Kucherov would record nine goals and 19 assists for 28 points in 14 games for the Tampa Bay Lightning. Kucherov would produce 2.00 points per game during the month of November as he would record points in 12 of his 14 games played. Kucherov would also produce six multi-point games including an eight game point streak to end the month. He would also have a six point game on Nov. 24 against Carolina.

    Second Star – Cale Makar (D – COL)

    • Cale Makar would record four goals and 21 assists for 25 points in 14 games for the Colorado Avalanche. Makar’s 21 assists would lead the League for the month of November, and his 25 points would set a franchise record for most points by a defenseman in a calendar month. Makar would record points in 12 of his 14 games played, and he would record his 200th career assist on Nov. 18th against Dallas.

    Third Star – Quinn Hughes (D – VAN)

    • Quin Hughes would record five goals and 17 assists for 22 points in 15 games played for the Vancouver Canucks. Hughes would set a franchise record for points in a calendar month by a defenseman, and would eclipse Dennis Kearns record from March 1977. Hughes would also lead the League with 11 powerplay assists, and post a career best 11 game point streak. Quinn would become the second Hughes brother to earn Star of the Month honors this season after brother Jack of the New Jersey Devils was named First Star for October.

    NHL Rookie of the Month – Bedard Leads Rookie for Top Honors

    Today the National Hockey League has announced the Rookie of the Month for the month of November 2023.

    Connor Bedard (C – CHI)

    • Connor Bedard would pace all rookies in goals and points as he would record six goals and six assists for twelve points in 12 games for the Chicago Blackhawks.
      • Bedard would record points in eight of his twelve games played, and would record two multi-point games including his first career four point game, and game winning goal.
      • Bedard edged out forwards Connor Zary (CAL), Dmitri Voronkov (CLB), Marco Rossi (MIN), and goaltender Samuel Ersson (PHI) for Rookie of the Month honors for November.

    • Corey Perry released a statement regarding his release from the Chicago Blackhawks.

    • The Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames would make a trade.
      • The Canucks would acquire defenseman Nikita Zadorov.
      • The Flames would acquire Chicago’s 2024 5th Round Pick and Vancouver’s 2026 3rd Round Pick.

    PWHL News

    • In the PWHL the official 2023-24 regular season schedule was released.
      • As previously announced, the 2023-24 regular season will begin on January 1st, 2024.
      • The last day of the regular season will be May 5th, 2024.

    • In signing news Minnesota signed forward Liz Schepers to a one year deal.

    • Minnesota would also sign forward Claire Buotrac to a one year deal.

    • The PWHL would unveil the primary home arenas for five of the six teams.
      • Montreal was the only team to not have a home arena announced.

    • The PWHL also announced Training Camp Roster Updates.
      • All rosters were reduced to 27 players.
      • The First Waiver window has also officially opened.
        • 11 players are eligible for the first waiver window. Teams are permitted to contact any of the 11 eligible players during this period with the intent to offer them a contract.

    • In Boston, the Bruins played host to the Sharks for the lone time on the year and after a scoreless first, the B’s got a pair when Danton Heinen scored his third and then Jake DeBrusk scored his fourth. In the third, Pavel Zacha scored a power play goal, his eighth goal on the year, as the Bruins went to shutout the Sharks 3-0.

    Chicago Blackhawks v. Detroit Red Wings – 7p ET

    • In an Original Six match-up in the Motor City, the Red Wings hosted their archrival Blackhawks back to Detroit. In the first, Detroit got on the board with a shorthanded goal from J.T. Compher, his fifth goal on the year, but then Chicago tied the game with a power play goal from Lukas Reichel. Then, Robby Fabbri scored his sixth of the year to put Detroit up 2-1. In the second, Ben Chiarot scored his second of the year and then J.T. Compher scored his second of the night as the Red Wings took the three goal lead. In the third, Robby Fabbri scored his own second of the night as the Red Wings cruised by the Blackhawks for the 5-1 victory.

    Florida Panthers v. Montreal Canadiens – 7p ET

    • In Montreal, the Canadiens and Panthers faced off for the first time this season and after a scoreless first, Aleksander Barkov scored his seventh of the year to out Florida up 1-0. In the third, Florida got a trio of goals when Sam Bennett, Evan Rodrigues, and Carter Verhaeghe all scored. Then, Montreal got on the board when Johnathan Kovaceviv scored his fourth of the year but then Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored his sixth of the year as the Panthers breezed by the Canadiens with the 5-1 victory.

    New Jersey Devils v. Philadelphia Flyers – 7p ET

    • In Philadelphia, the Flyers hosted the Devils and in the first New Jersey got a pair when Alexander Holtz and Jack Hughes scored their seventh and eighth goals on the year, respectively. In the second, Morgan Frost’s power play goal got the Flyers on the board. In the third, Tyler Toffoli scored his 12th of the year on a New Jersey power play but then Sean Walker scored his fourth of the year to bring Philadelphia within a goal. Then, Tyson Foerster’s power play goal, his second of the year, tied the contest for Philly. In the extra session, Luke Hughes scored the game winner, his third of the year, as the Devils downed the Flyers 4-3.

    Pittsburgh Penguins v. Tampa Bay Lightning – 7p ET

    • In Tampa, the Lightning hosted the Penguins and in the first Tampa Bay got a pair when Steven Stamkos scored his 10th of the year and then Tanner Jeannot scored a power play goal, his fifth of the year, to give the Lightning the 2-0 lead. In the second, Pittsburgh got a pair when Sidney Crosby scored his 14th of the season and the Drew O’Connor scored his second of the year to tie the contest 2-2. In the third, Jeff Carter scored his first of the year to give Pittsburgh their first lead and then Tristan Jarry scored the first goaltender goal in franchise history as the Penguins defeated the Lightning 4-2.

    Seattle Kraken v. Toronto Maple Leafs – 7p ET

    • In Toronto, the Maple Leafs hosted the Kraken and in the first Mitchell Marner got Toronto on the baord with a power play goal. In the second, Mitchell Marner scored his second of the night to put the Leafs up two but then the Kraken got on the board with Jared McCann’s power play goal. Then, Mitchell Marner completed the hat trick to put Toronto back up a pair. Then in the third, Seattle got a pair when Eeli Tolvanen scored his sixth and then Jared McCann scored his second of the night to make this a tie game. After a scoreless overtime session, the game moved to the shootout where Mitchell Marner scores the game winner as the Maple Leafs downed the Kraken 4-3.

    New York Islanders v. Carolina Hurricanes – 730p ET

    • In Raleigh, the Hurricanes hosted the Islanders and in the first Carolina took the 1-0 lead when Jalen Chatfield scored his second of the year but then New York answered when Bo Horvat scored his seventh of the year. In the second, Jordan Staal scored his second to give the Canes the lead back but then the Isles got a pair when Simon Holmstrom scored on the power play and then Pierre Engvall scored his second to give the Islanders the one goal lead. In the third, Carolina tied it up with Jack Drury’s second of the year but then the Isles responded with a power play goal from Kyle Palmieri. Then, Sebastian Aho’s sixth of the year tied the game for Carolina 4-4. In overtime, Mathew Barzal scored his seventh of the year as the Islanders downed the Hurricanes 5-4.

    Minnesota Wild v. Nashville Predators – 8p ET

    • In Nashville, the Predators welcomed the Wild back to town and in the first, Minnesota lit the lamp three times with Connor Dewar, Jake Middleton, and Kirill Kaprizov all scoring. In the second, Pat Maroon and Connor Dewar, the latter getting his second of the night, scored to put the Wild up 5-0. In the third, Nashville got on the board when Juuso Parssinen scored but then Connor Dewar completed his hat trick as the Wild crushed the Predators 6-1.

    Buffalo Sabres v. St. Louis Blues – 8p ET

    • In the Gateway City, the Blues welcomed the Sabres back to town and in the first St. Louis took the 1-0 lead with Brandon Saad’s fourth of the year and then the Blues took the 2-0 lead when Brayden Schenn scored a power play goal, his seventh of the year. Then, Jake Neighbours scored his eighth of the year to put the Blues up 3-0 but then Buffalo got on the board when Rasmus Dahlin scored his fifth of the year. In the second, Zach Benson scored his second of the year to bring Buffalo within a goal and then Peyton Krebs scored his first of the year to tie the game 3-3. Then, St. Louis took the 4-3 lead when Kevin Hayes scored his fifth on the year and then the Blues took the two goal lead when Brayden Schenn scored his second of the night. In the third, Jake Neighbours second of the night gave St. Louis the three goal lead once more but then JJ Peterka scored his tenth of the year. Despite the goal from Peterka, the Blues held on as they defeated the Sabres 6-4.

    Edmonton Oilers v. Winnipeg Jets – 8p ET

    • In Winnipeg, the Jets welcomed the Oilers back to town and in the first Winnipeg took the 1-0 lead thanks to a Cole Perfetti power play goal, his eighth goal of the year. After a scoreless second, Darnell Nurse scored his fourth of the year to tie the game for Edmonton and then Leon Draisaitl’s 10th of the year put Edmonton up 2-1. Then, Ryan McLeod scored an empty netter, his first goal of the year, as the Oilers downed the Jets 3-1.

    • The NHL Department of Player Safety announced that they have fined Ottawa Senators forward Zack MacEwen.
      • MacEwen has been fined $2,018.23 for unsportsmanlike conduct during Monday night’s game against Florida.
      • The fine is maximum allowed per the CBA.

    • The Chicago Blackhawks announced that they have placed forward Corey Perry on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract.

    • The Chicago Blackhawks would also make a trade with the Vancouver Canucks.
      • The Blackhawks would acquire forward Anthony Beauvillier.
      • The Canucks would acquire a conditional 2024 5th Round Pick.

    • The Detroit Red Wings announced that they have signed forward Patrick Kane.
      • Kane would sign a one year deal worth $2.75 million.

    PWHL News

    • In the PWHL, the league announced all six teams home openers.
      • The PWHL season will officially kick off on Jan. 1st, 2024 when New York visits Toronto.

In the second period Noah Gregor would score to tie the game at one. Then after a scoreless third period and overtime frame it would be Gregor in the shootout to give the Maple Leafs the 2-1 victory over the Panthers.

    • The NHL announced that they have named Edmonton Oilers forward Connor McDavid as the First Star of the Week,
      • Nikita Kucherov (TB) and Juuse Saros (NAS) would round out the rest of the Three Stars.
    • NHL Stars of the Week – McDavid Surges for Top Honors

    • The NHL Department of Player Safety announced that they have suspended Minnesota Wild forward Ryan Hartman.
      • Hartman was suspended for two games for tripping Detroit Red Wings forward Alex DeBricat on Sunday.
      • Hartman will forfeit $41,463.42 based on his average annual salary per the CBA, and is also considered a repeat offender per the CBA as well.

    • The Minnesota Wild announced that they have relieved head coach Dean Evason and assistant coach Bob Woods of their duties.
      • The Wild would then name John Hynes as their new head coach.

    • The NHL announced that the 2024 All Star Weekend will be three days and will begin with All Star Thursday on February 1st, 2024.
      • At 6p ET on ESPN and SportsNet will be the Return of the All Star Player Draft.
      • Then at 7p ET on ESPN+ and SportsNet will be the NHL Alumni Man of the Year as the 1967 Toronto Maple Leafs will be honored.
      • Then to close out the evening at 9p will be the PWHL 3 on 3 Showcase.

    Boston Bruins v. Columbus Blue Jackets – 7p ET

    • In Columbus, the Blue Jackets hosted the Bruins and in the first Columbus took the 1-0 lead with a goal from Dmitri Voronokov, his fourth of the year. In the second, Columbus got a pair from Ivan Provorov, scoring his second of the year, and Yegor Chinakhov, also scoring his second, to take the 3-0 lead. In the third, a power play goal from Kirill Marchenko put the Blue Jackets up 4-0 but then Boston finally got on the board with Matthew Poitras fifth goal of the season. Columbus then re-took the four goal lead with an empty netter from Justin Danforth but Boston responded when John Beecher netted his fourth of the year. However, Columbus held on as the Blue Jackets defeated the Bruins 5-2.

    Buffalo Sabres v. New York Rangers – 7p ET

    • In New York City, the Rangers hosted the Sabres and in the first, Buffalo took the 1-0 lead when JJ Peterka scored his ninth of the year. In the second, Alex Tuch’s seventh goal of the year put the Sabres up 2-0. In the third, a power play goal from Mika Zibanejad got the Rangers on the board but then Alex Tuch’s second of the night gave Buffalo the two goal lead back. Then, an empty netter from Casey Mittlestadt put Buffalo up three and then Kyle Okposo sealed the game with his third of the year as the Sabres dominated the Rangers 5-1.

    Florida Panthers v. Ottawa Senators – 7p ET

    • In the Canadian capital, the Senators hosted the Panthers and in the first, Sam Reinhart scored a power play goal to give Florida the 1-0 lead. In the second, Sam Reinhart scored his second goal of the night, also on the power play to put the Cats up 2-0 and then Sam Bennett scored a power play goal of his own to give Florida the 3-0 lead. In the third, a major fracas broke out with penalties being doled out between both squads. Calmer heads prevailed for the time being when Carter Verhaeghe scored his ninth of the year to put the Panthers up 4-0. Then, at 12:38, there was even more chaos as another fracas broke out following matching roughing penalties, as well as an Ottawa goaltender interference penalty, and misconduct penalties totaling 106 minutes alone. Then, just shy of two minutes after the fracas, another set of matching misconduct penalties were doled out and then finally cooler heads prevailed with the game clincher from Eetu Luostarinen as the Panthers dominated the Senators for the 5-0 shutout win.

    Today the National Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of November 20th through 26th.

    First Star – Connor McDavid (C – EDM)

    • Connor McDavid would have a resurgence as he would record three goals and nine assists for 12 points in four games for the Edmonton Oilers. To start off his week McDavid would record two goals in a 5-3 loss to Florida on Nov. 20th, and then on Nov. 22nd he would collect an assist in a 6-3 loss to Carolina. Then on Nov. 24th he would record four assists in 5-0 victory over Washington, and then on Nov. 26th McDavid would close out the week with a goal and four assists in an 8-2 victory over Anaheim.

    • Nikita Kucherov would record two goals and six assists for eight points in three games played for the Tampa Bay Lightning. To start off his week Kucherov would record an assist in a 5-4 overtime victory over Boston on Nov. 20th. Then on Nov. 22nd he would record another assist in a 3-2 overtime loss to Winnipeg, and then to close out the week Kucherov would record two goals and four assists in an 8-2 victory over Carolina on Nov. 24th.

    Third Star – Juuse Saros (G – NAS)

    • In three games played for the Nashville Predators, Juuse Saros would go a perfect 3-0-0 with a 2.35 goals against average, and a .921 save percentage. Saros would open the week with 26 saves in a 4-3 comeback victory over Colorado on Nov. 20th. Then on Nov. 22nd he would record 24 saves in a 4-2 win over Calgary, and then to close out the week Saros would record 32 saves in a 3-2 victory over Winnipeg.

    • In a matinee matchup in the Motor City, the Red Wings hosted the Wild and in the first period David Perron scored a power play goal to give Detroit the 1-0 lead but then Minnesota tied the game with a power play goal from Joel Eriksson Ek. In the second, Dylan Larkin scored his eighth of the year to put Detroit back in the lead. In the third, David Perron scores a power play goal of his own as Detroit took the two goal lead and then an empty netter from Shayne Gostisbehere would lift the Red Wings to the 4-1 win over the Wild.

    St. Louis Blues v. Chicago Blackhawks – 2p ET

    • In Chicago the Blackhawks welcomed the Blues back to the Windy City and in the first St. Louis got on the board first with Jake Neighbours sixth of the year and then the Blues took the 2-0 lead when Kevin Hayes scored his fourth of the year. Then, Chicago got on the board when Ryan Donato scored his fourth of the year but then the Blues re-took the two goal lead with Pavel Buchnevich’s eighth of the year on a St. Louis power play. After a scoreless second, St. Louis made it a three goal lead when Jake Neighbours scored his second of the night but then Boris Katchouk scored his first of the year. Despite the late goal by Chicago, the Blues held on as the would double up the Blackhawks with the 4-2 win.

    • In Raleigh, the Hurricanes welcomed the Blue Jackets and after a scoreless first and second period Columbus got a pair when Kirill Marchenko scored his sixth and then Johnny Gaudreau got his third. Then, Carolina got on the board when Jesperi Kotkaniemi scored his seventh and then the Canes tied it up when Brady Skjei scored his third of the year. Andrei Svechnikov then scored the game winner, his first goal of the season, as the Hurricanes downed the Blue Jackets 3-2.

    • In Music City, the Predators welcomed the Jets back to Nashville and in the first, Yakov Trenin scored his fourth of the year to give the Predators the 1-0 lead. In the second, Roman Josi scored his fourth of the year to put Nashville up 2-0 and then Gustav Nyqvist’s third of the year on a power play put the Preds up 3-0. In the third, Winnipeg got on the board when Josh Morrissey scored his fourth of the year and then Cole Perfetti scored his seventh of the year on a power play. Despite the efforts from Winnipeg, the Predators escaped with the 3-2 win over the Jets.

    • The Chicago Blackhawks confirmed that forward Corey Perry will be away from the team for the “foreseeable future”.
      • Perry’s agent Pat Morris announced that Perry has stepped away to attend to personal matters.
      • However, the team is claiming it was an “organizational decision” for his absence.

    • The NHL Department of Player Safety announced that they have fined New York Rangers defenseman Jacob Trouba.
      • Trouba would be fined $5,000 for high sticking Boston Bruins forward Trent Frederic on Saturday afternoon.
      • The fine is the maximum allowed per the CBA.

    Boston Bruins v. New York Rangers – 1p ET

    • At Madison Square Garden the New York Rangers would host the Boston Bruins for an Original Six matchup to kick start Saturday’s action, and in the first period Nick Bonino and Chris Kreider would open the scoring for the Rangers, but goals from Charlie Coyle and Morgan Geekie would tie the game at two for the B’s. However, before the end of the first Kreider would net his second of the game to give the Rangers the 3-2 lead. In the second period David Pastrnak would strike 26 seconds in to tie the game at three for the B’s, but goals from Jimmy Vesey and K’Andre Miller would give the Rangers the 5-3 lead. Then in the third period Coyle would net his second of the game for the B’s, but goals from Tyler Pitlick and Artemi Panarin would give the Rangers the 7-4 victory over the Bruins.

    • In Los Angeles the Kings would play host to the Montreal Canadiens, and in the first period Carl Grundstrom would score to give the Kings the 1-0 lead. In the second period Trevor Moore would score to grow the Kings lead to two. Then in the third period Trevor Lewis would score and Moore would net his second of the game to give the Kings the 4-0 shutout victory over the Canadiens.

    • In Pittsburgh for Hockey Night in Canada (but played in the US) the Penguins would play host to the Toronto Maple Leafs, and in the first period Tyler Bertuzzi and Matthew Knies would score for the Leafs, but Jake Guentzel would score to get the Pens on the board and down by one. In the second period Noel Acciari and Erik Karlsson would score to give the Pens the 3-2 lead. Then in the third period it would be scoreless as the Penguins would hold on to defeat the Maple Leafs 3-2.

    Philadelphia Flyers v. New York Islanders – 730p ET

    • On Long Island the Philadelphia Flyers would come to town to faceoff with the New York Islanders, and after a scoreless 65 minutes of hockey it would be Tyson Foerster in the shootout to give the Flyers the 1-0 victory over the Islanders. Samuel Ersson would stop all 25 shots faced in regulation and overtime and all four shots faced in the shootout for the shutout victory. Ilya Sorokin would stop all 40 shots faced in regulation and overtime for the Islanders.
