    • Montreal would play host to New York with hopes to become the second team to win a game at home, and in the first period Gabrielle David and Leah Lum would score to give Montreal the 2-0 lead. In the second period Jaime Bourbonnais would score for New York to get them back within one. Then in the third period Jessie Eldridge would score to tie the game at two for New York, but Marie-Philip Poulin would score to give Montreal the 3-2 victory over New York and earn their first home victory of the season.

    PWHL Stars of the Week – Poulin Rises for Top Honors

    Today the Professional Women’s Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of January 8th through 14th.

    First Star – Marie-Philp Poulin (C – MON)

    • In two games played for Montreal, Marie-Philip Poulin would record three goals, and register ten shots and a plus three rating. Poulin would open up her week with a hat trick in a 5-2 victory over New York on Jan. 10th. Then on Jan. 13th Poulin would win 74% of her faceoffs, and would register five shots on goal in a 3-2 overtime loss to Boston.

    Second Star – Ella Shelton (D – NY)

    • Ella Shelton would record a goal and four assists for five points in two games played for New York. On Jan. 10th Shelton would record a goal and an assist in a 5-2 loss to Montreal. Then on Jan. 14th Shelton would factor on all of New York’s goals as she would record three assists in a 3-2 overtime victory over Minnesota.

    Third Star – Taylor Heise (C – MIN)

    • In Two games played for Minnesota, Taylor Heise would record two goals and an assist for three points. On Jan. 10th Heise would record two goals and an assist to help Minnesota win the first home game in PWHL history 3-1 over Toronto. Then on Jan. 14th Heise would be held off the scoresheet as Minnesota would lose to New York 3-2 in overtime.

    • In the lone game of the day for the PWHL, Minnesota would play host to New York, and in the first period Minnesota would get goals from Lee Stecklein and Kelly Pannek to take the 2-0 lead. In the second period Alex Carpenter would score to get New York on the board and back within one. Then in the third period Jessie Eldridge would score to tie the game at two for New York to send the game to overtime. In the extra frame Emma Woods would strike to give New York the 3-2 overtime victory over Minnesota.

    • Toronto would play host to Ottawa for a Battle of Ontario to start the day for the PWHL, and in the first period Katerina Mrazova, Gabbie Hughes, and Daryl Watts would score to give Ottawa the 3-0 lead. In the second period Natalie Spooner would score for Toronto to get on the board, but Natalie Snodgrass would strike to give Ottawa the three goal lead back. Then in the third period Hughes would net her second of the game to give Ottawa the 5-1 victory over Toronto.

    Boston v. Montreal – 330p ET

    • In the second game of the day Montreal would take on Boston, and after a scoreless first period Erin Ambrose and Laura Stacey would score to give Montreal the 2-0 lead, but Taylor Girard and Hannah Brandt would score to tie the game at two for Boston. Then after a scoreless third period Amanda Pelkey would score to give Boston the 3-2 overtime victory over Montreal.

    • At UBS Arena New York would host Montreal, and in the first period Marie-Philip Poulin would strike for Montreal to take the 1-0 lead, but Jessie Eldridge would score to tie the game at one for New York. In the second period Catherine Dubois and Erin Ambrose would score to give Montreal the 3-1 lead. Then in the third period Ella Shelton would score to get New York Back within one, but Kennedy Marchment would score and Poulin would net two more goals to complete the hat trick to give Montreal the 5-2 victory over New York.

    PWHL Stars of the Week – Zumwinkle’s Hot Start Earns Top Honors

    Today the Professional Women’s Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of January 1st through 7th.

    First Star – Grace Zumwinkle (RW – MIN)

    • grace Zumwinkle would record four goals for four points in two games played for Minnesota. In Zumwinkle’s professional debut she would record the game winning goal in a 3-2 victory over Boston on Jan. 3rd. Then on Jan. 6th Zumwinkle would record the first hat trick in PWHL history to give Minnesota the 3-0 victory over Montreal.

    Second Star – Alex Carpenter (C – NY)

    • Alex Carpenter would record two goals and an assist for three points in two games played for New York. In the first ever game in PWHL history Carpenter would record an assist on the first ever goal in PWHL history and then would score a goal in a 4-0 victory over Toronto on Jan. 1st. Then on Jan. 5th Carpenter would record a goal in a 3-2 loss to Toronto.

    Third Star – Corinne Schroeder (G – NY)

    • Corinne Schroeder would make history as she would earn both the first victory and shutout in PWHL history. On Jan. 1st Schroeder would make 29 saves to earn the 4-0 shutout victory for New York over Toronto. This is the second consecutive season Schroeder has recorded a shutout to open a season. She did it for the Boston Pride of the PHF during the 2022-23 season, which also saw her record three straight shutouts to start that season.
