- Winnipeg Jets head coach Rick Bowness announced his retirement.
- Bowness head coached in 803 NHL games for both the current and original Winnipeg Jets, Boston Bruins, Ottawa Senators, New York Islanders, Phoenix Coyotes, and Dallas Stars.
- Bowness would also appear in an additional 1800 NHL games as an assistant or associate coach for the teams he head coached and also for Vancouver and Tampa Bay.

Boston Bruins v. Florida Panthers – Game 1 – 8p ET
- In South Florida, the Panthers hosted the Bruins in Game One of this Second Round match-up. After a scoreless first, Florida got on the board with a Matthew Tkachuk goal but then Boston scored three goals with Morgan Geekie, Mason Lohrei, and Brandon Carlo all getting on the scoresheet. In the third, Boston went up three when Justin Brazeau got his first career postseason goal and then Jake DeBrusk scored an empty net goal as the Bruins dominated the Panthers 5-1 to take Game One.
