News

  • The Washington Capitals announced that they have recalled goaltender Hunter Shepard from Hershey of the AHL.
    • The Capitals also sent forward Ivan Miroshnichenko to Hershey.

Game Recaps

Minnesota Wild v. Winnipeg Jets – 2p ET

  • In Winnipeg for an afternoon matinee the Jets would play host to the Minnesota Wild, and in the first period Alex Iafallo and Nino Niederreiter would score to give the Jets the 2-0 lead. In the second period Neiderreiter would net his second of the game to give the Jets the three goal lead, but Ryan Hartman would score to get the Wild on the board. Then in the third period Matt Boldy would score to get the Wild back within one, but Axel Jonsson-Fjallby would score to give the Jets the 4-2 victory over the Wild.

Columbus Blue Jackets v. Buffalo Sabres – 5p ET

  • In Buffalo the Sabres would take on the Columbus Blue Jackets, and in the first period Damon Severson would score to give the Jackets the 1-0 lead. In the second period Jack Quinn would score 40 seconds into the period to tie the game at one for the Sabres, but Adam Fantilli would score to retake the lead for the Jackets. Then in the third period Casey Mittelstadt would score to tie the game at two for the Sabres to force overtime. In the extra frame Jeff Skinner would score to give the Sabres the 3-2 overtime victory over the Blue Jackets.

New Jersey Devils v. Boston Bruins – 7p ET

  • In Boston the New Jersey Devils would come to visit the Bruins, and in the first period Nico Hischier would score to give the Devils the 1-0 lead. In the second period Luke Hughes would score to grow the Devils lead to two, but a pair of goals from David Pastrnak and goals from Jake DeBrusk and Kevin Shattenkirk would score to give the B’s the 4-2 lead. Then in the third period Shattenkirk would score his second of the game to give the Bruins the 5-2 victory over the Devils.

Montreal Canadiens v. Florida Panthers – 7p ET

  • In Florida the Panthers would play host to the Montreal Canadiens, and after a scoreless first period both teams would trade goals as Eetu Luostarinen would strike for the Panthers while Cole Caufield would strike for the Habs for the 1-1 tie. Then in the third period Luostarinen would net his second of the game while Sam Bennett and Carter Verhaeghe would score to give the Panthers the 401 victory over the Canadiens.

St. Louis Blues v. Pittsburgh Penguins – 7p ET

  • In Pittsburgh the Penguins would battle the St. Louis Blues, and in the first period Drew O’Connor would score to give the Pens the 1-0 lead. In the second period Robert Thomas would score for the Blues to tie the game at one, but Evgeni Malkin would score to retake the lead for the Pens. Then in the third period former Penguin Kasperi Kapanen would score for the Blues, but goals from Jeff Carter and Sidney Crosby would give the Penguins the 4-2 victory over the Blues.

New York Rangers v. Tampa Bay Lightning – 7p ET

  • The New York Rangers would travel south and faceoff with the Tampa Bay Lightning, and in the first period Artemi Panarin and Vincent Trocheck would score to give the Rangers the 2-0 lead. In the second period Nikita Kucherov would score to get the Bolts back within one, but Chris Kreider would score to regain the two goal lead for the Rangers. Then in the third period Panarin would net a pair of goals to complete the hat trick to give the Rangers the 5-1 victory over the Lightning.

Carolina Hurricanes v. Toronto Maple Leafs – 7p ET

  • In Toronto for Hockey Night in Canada the Maple Leafs would play host to the Carolina Hurricanes, and in the first period former Leaf Michael Bunting would score to give the Canes the 1-0 lead. In the second period Seth Jarvis would score to grow the Canes lead to two. Then in the third period Timothy Liljegren and Nick Robertson would score for the Leafs, but an empty netter from Sebastian Aho would give the Hurricanes the 3-2 victory over the Maple Leafs.

Nashville Predators v. Washington Capitals – 7p ET

  • In DC the Washington Capitals would battle the Nashville Predators, and in the first period Luke Evangelista and Roman Josi would score for the Preds to take the 2-0 lead, but Beck Malenstyn would score fort he Caps to get back within one. In the second period Alex Ovechkin would net career NHL goal 829 to tie the game at two for the Caps. Then in the third period Ovechkin would be denied his second goal of the game off of a questionable goaltender interference call as this game would go to overtime tied at two. After a scoreless extra five minutes of hockey Ryan O’Reilly would net the shootout winner to give the Predators the 3-2 victory over the Capitals.
