- The Washington Capitals recalled goaltender Hunter Shepard from Hershey of the AHL.
- The Capitals would also loan goaltender Clay Stevenson to Hershey.

- The contract allows Anderson to retire as a Senator.

- The NHL announced that after consulting with the NHLPA and the NHL Player Inclusion Coalition, that players will now be able to use Pride Tape and other tape to represent social causes throughout the season.
- The League idiotically banned the specialty tape, more specifically Pride Tape, before the season began.
- Now the League needs to reverse course on Specialty Jerseys and bring them back too.

Game Recaps

Toronto Maple Leafs v. Washington Capitals – 6p ET
- To kick off the Frozen Frenzy the Washington Capitals would play host to the Toronto Maple Leafs, and in the first period the Leafs would strike first while on the powerplay as Morgan Rielly would net his first of the season to take the 1-0 lead. In the second period John Tavares, William Nylander, and Auston Matthews would score to grow the Leafs lead to four. However, late in the period Alex Ovechkin would net his first goal of season and the Caps first powerplay goal of the season to get them on the board. The goal would also mark Ovechkin’s 300th career powerplay goal, and the 3,000th in franchise history. It would be a scoreless third period as the Maple Leafs would go on to defeat the Capitals 4-1.

Buffalo Sabres v. Ottawa Senators – 645p ET
- In Ottawa the Senators would honor former goaltender Craig Anderson as they host his former team the Buffalo Sabres for some Frozen Frenzy action, and in the first period Jeff Skinner and Zemgus Girgensons would strike to give the Sabres the 2-0 lead. In the second period the Sabres would light it up as Skinner would net his second of the game and Alex Tuch and Tage Thompson would score for the Sabres. Jakob Chychrun would score for the Sens, but the Sabres would take the four goal lead into the second intermission. Then in the third period Vladimir Tarasenko, Josh Norris, and Mathieu Joseph would score for the Sens, but it would not be enough as Thompson would get his second of the game as the Sabres would hold on to defeat the Senators 6-4.

Carolina Hurricanes v. Tampa Bay Lightning – 7p ET
- In Tampa Bay the Lightning would take on the Carolina Hurricanes, and in the first period Brayden Point would score to give the Bolts the 1-0 lead. In the second period Alex Barre-Boulet would score to grow Tampa’s lead to two. then in the third period Nick Paul would score to give the Lightning the 3-0 victory over the Hurricanes.

New Jersey Devils v. Montreal Canadiens – 715p ET
- In Montreal the Canadiens would faceoff with the New Jersey Devils, and in the first period Justin Barron would score for the Habs to give them the 1-0 lead, but Alexander Holtz would score to tie the game at one for the Devils. In the second period Tyler Toffoli would strike for the Devils to take the 2-1 lead. Then in the third period Nico Hischier would net his first of the season and Toffoli would score his second of the game to give the Devils the 4-1 lead. While Mike Matheson would score a nice end to end tally for the Habs, the Devils would see Toffoli complete the hat trick to seal the deal and give the Devils the 5-2 victory over the Canadiens.

Dallas Stars v. Pittsburgh Penguins – 730p ET
- In Pittsburgh the Penguins would face off with the Dallas Stars, and in the final 38 seconds of the first period Bryan Rust would score to give the Pens the 1-0 lead. In the second period Jason Robertson and Evgenii Dadonov would score their first goals of the season to take the 2-1 lead for the Stars. Then in the third period Thomas Harley would net his first of the season and Wyatt Johnston would strike to give the Stars the 4-1

San Jose Sharks v. Florida Panthers – 745p ET
- In Florida Anthony Duclair would return with the San Jose Sharks to take on the Panthers, and after a scoreless first period Fabian Zetterlund would score on the powerplay for the Sharks to take the lead, but Carter Verhaeghe would score to tie the game at one and Sam Reinhart would score for the Panthers to take the 2-1 lead.

Colorado Avalanche v. New York Islanders – 8p ET
- On Long Island the Colorado Avalanche would come to town to take on the New York Islanders in the Frozen Frenzy, and in the first period Ryan Johansen would open the scoring for the Avs, but Cal Clutterbuck would score to tie the game at one. However, before the period ended Cale Makar would net his third of the season to give the Avs the 2-1 lead. Then in the second period Kyle Palmieri would score to tie the game at two for the Isles while on the powerplay, and Simon Holmstrom would score to give the Isles the 3-2 lead. But Bowen Byram would strike for the Avs to tie the game up at three, and Nathan MacKinnon would score to retake the lead for the Avs. Then in the third period Anders Lee would score for the Isles, but Mikko Rantanen and Ross Colton would score and Johansen would net his second of the game to give the Avalanche the 7-4 victory over the Islanders.

Seattle Kraken v. Detroit Red Wings – 815p ET
- In Detroit the Red Wings would take on the Seattle Kraken, and after a scoreless first period Joe Veleno would score to give the Wings the 1-0 lead, but Jaden Schwartz would score a pair of goals and Tye Kartye would score to take the 3-1 lead for the Kraken. Then in the third period Shayne Gostisbehere and Dylan Larkin would score for the Wings to tie the game at three, and Alex DeBrincat would score to give the Red Wings the 4-3 lead, but Jared McCann would score to tie the game at four for the Kraken to force overtime. In the extra frame with 4.9 seconds left Jordan Eberle would score to give the Kraken the 5-4 comeback victory over the Red Wings.

Anaheim Ducks v. Columbus Blue Jackets – 830p ET
- In Columbus the Frozen Frenzy would be delayed due to a power outage as the Blue Jackets would play host to the Anaheim Ducks, and in the first period Emil Bemstrom would score his first of the season to give the Jackets the 1-0 lead. In the second period Ryan Strome would net his first of the season to tie the game at one for the Ducks. Then in the third period Adam Fantilli would score to give the Blue Jackets the 2-1 lead, but Brett Leason would score to tie the game at two for the Ducks to force overtime. In the extra frame it would be Frank Vatrano with the winner as the Ducks would defeat the Blue Jackets 3-2.
