Los Angeles Kings v. St. Louis Blues – 7:30p ET
In St. Louis for a night right out of the 90’s, the Blues would play host to the Los Angeles Kings, and in the first period Alexey Toropchenko would score to give the Blues the 1-0 lead. In the second period Jake Neighbours would score to grow the Blues lead to two. Then in the third period Adrian Kempe would score for the Kings, but Brandon Saad would score to give the Blues the 3-1 victory over the Kings.
In Winnipeg the Jets would play host to the Nashville Predators, and in the first period Gustav Nyquist and Kiefer Sherwood would score to give the Preds the 2-0 lead. Then after a scoreless second period Alex Iafallo and Mason Appleton would score for the Jets, but goals from Filip Forsberg and Jason Zucker would give the Predators the 4-2 victory over the Jets.
The NHL announced that the Buffalo Sabres, New Jersey Devils, Dallas Stars, and Florida Panthers will participate in the 2024 Global Series.
The Sabres and Devils will faceoff in Prague, Czechia to kickoff the 2024-25 season on Friday, Oct. 4th and Saturday, Oct. 5th.
The Sabres will also participate in an exhibition match against Red Bull Munich of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) in Munich, Germany on Friday, Sept. 27th.
The Stars and Panthers will faceoff in Tampere, Finland on Friday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2nd.

Detroit Red Wings v. Buffalo Sabres – 7p ET
In Buffalo the Sabres would play host to the Detroit Red Wings, and in the first period Ben Chiarot would score for the Wings, but goals from Alex Tuch, Bowen Byram, Zach Benson, and Jeff Skinner would give the Sabres the 4-1 lead. In the second period Connor Clifton would score, and Byram would net his second of the game to grow the Sabres lead to five, but Lucas Raymond would score to get the Wings back on the board. However, JJ Peterka would score to regain the dominating five goal lead for the Sabres. Then in the third period Jake Walman would score for the Wings, but the Sabres would hold the Red Wings at bay with the 7-3 victory.
In Carolina the New York Rangers would come to town to take on the Hurricanes, and in the first period Adam Fox would score to give the Rangers the 1-0 lead. Then after a scoreless second and third period the Rangers would hold on to defeat the Hurricanes 1-0. Igor Shesterkin would stop all 28 shots faced to earn the shutout.
Columbus Blue Jackets v. Montreal Canadiens – 7p ET
In Montreal the Canadiens would face off with the Columbus Blue Jackets, and in the first period Brendan Gallagher, Juraj Slafkovsky, and Joshua Roy would score to give the Habs the 3-0 lead. Then after a scoreless second and third period the Canadiens would keep the Blue Jackets off the board for the 3-0 victory. Cayden Primeau would make 41 saves to earn the shutout.
In Ottawa the Senators would go to battle with the Pittsburgh Penguins, and after a scoreless first and second periods Jake Sanderson would score for the Sens while Michael Bunting would score for the Pens for the 1-1 tie. Then in the overtime Drake Batherson would score to give the Senators the 2-1 victory over the Penguins.
In Philadelphia the San Jose Sharks would come to town to battle the Sharks, and in the first period Joel Farabee would strike for the Flyers to take the 1-0 lead, but Filip Zadina would score for the Sharks to tie the game at one. In the second period Morgan Frost would score to give the Flyers the 2-1 lead, but Zadina would net his second of the game for the Sharks to tie the game at two. Then in the third period Owen Tippett would score to give the Flyers the 3-2 victory over the Sharks.
In Dallas the Stars would take on the Florida Panthers, and in the first period Joe Pavelski would score to give the Stars the 1-0 lead. In the second period Jason Robertson and Wyatt Johnston would score for the Stars to take the three goal lead, but Sam Reinhart would score to get the Panthers on the board. Then in the third period Carter Verhaeghe, Sam Bennett, and Aleksander Barkov would score for the Panthers to take the 4-3 comeback victory over the Stars.
In Minnesota the Wild would battle the Arizona Coyotes, and in the first period Kirill Kaprizov would score to give the Wild the 1-0 lead. In the second period Nick Bjugstad would score for the Yotes to tie the game at one, but Ryan Hartman would score to retake the lead for the Wild. Then in the third period Kaprizov would net his second of the game and Marcus Foligno would score to give the Wild the 4-1 victory over the Coyotes.

St. Louis Blues v. Boston Bruins – 7p ET
In Boston, the Bruins hosted the Blues and in the first Kasperi Kapanen scored his fifth of the year to give St. Louis the 1-0 lead and then a power play goal from Robert Thomas gave the Blues the 2-0 lead. In the second, Kevin Hayes 12th of the season put St. Louis up three and then the Blues went up four with Brandon Saad’s 19th of the year. In the third, Boston got on the board when David Pastrnak scored his 41st of the year but Alexey Toropchenko hit the empty net as the Blues blew by the Bruins 5-1.
In New York City, the Rangers hosted the Devils and after a scoreless first, Mika Zibanejad scored his 20th to put New York up 1-0 and then Erik Gustafsson’s sixth put the Blueshirts up 2-0. In the third, New Jersey got on the board when Simon Nemc scored his third of the year but Vincent Trocheck got an empty net goal as the Rangers knocked off the Devils 3-1.
In Winnipeg, the Jets hosted the Capitals for the lone time on the year and in the first Winnipeg took the 1-0 lead with Neal Pionk’s fifth of the year. In the second, Alex Iafallo scored his ninth of the year to put Winnipeg up 2-0. In the third, Kyle Connor scored his 27th as the Jets got the 3-0 shutout victory over the Capitals.
Today the National Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of March 4th through 10th.
First Star – Nathan MacKinnon (C – COL)
Nathan MacKinnon would record three goals and seven assists for ten points in three games played for the Colorado Avalanche. To open up the week, MacKinnon would record two goals and two assists in a 5-0 victory over Chicago on March 4th, and then on March 6th he would record a goal and three assists in a 7-2 victory over Detroit. Then to close out the week MacKinnon would record two assists in a 2-1 overtime victory over Minnesota on March 8th.

Second Star – Pavel Zacha (C – BOS)
Pavel Zacha would record five goals and two assists for seven points in four games played for the Boston Bruins. To open up the week Zacha would record two goals in a 4-1 victory over Toronto on March 4th, and then on March 5th he would record the Bruins lone goal in a 2-1 overtime loss to Edmonton. Then on March 7th he would record an assist in a 4-1 victory over Toronto, and to close out the week Zacha would record two goals and an assist in a 5-1 victory over Pittsburgh on March 9th.

Third Star – Thatcher Demko (G – VAN)
Thatcher Demko would go 3-0-0 with a .81 goals against average and a.969 save percentage in three games played for the Vancouver Canucks. Demko would open up his week with 23 saves in a 2-1 overtime victory over Los Angeles on March 5th, and then on March 7th he would make 27 saves in a 3-1 victory over Vegas. Then on March 9th Demko would make 12 saves before leaving the game due to injury in a 5-0 victory over Winnipeg. Demko would share the shutout with Casey DeSmith (10 saves) for the shutout victory.

Edmonton Oilers v. Pittsburgh Penguins – 1p ET
In Pittsburgh, the Penguins welcomed the Oilers back to the Steel City and in the first Connor McDavid scored his 24th to put Edmonton up 1-0 and then Mattias Ekholm scored his fifth to give the Oilers the 2-0 lead. Following a scoreless second, Darnell Nurse scored a pair of goals as the Oilers went on to shutout the Penguins 4-0.
In Minnesota, the Wild hosted the Predators and in the first Jonas Brodin scored his seventh of the year to put Minnesota up 1-0 and then Mark Jankowski scored his third of the year as Nashville tied the contest. In the second, Nashville took the lead when Luke Evangelista scored his 14th of the year but Kirill Kaprizov’s 31st of the year tied the game for Minnesota. In the third, Ryan Hartman’s 16th gave the Wild the lead but then Ryan O’Reilly scored a power play goal to tie the game for Nashville. In overtime, Matt Boldy scored his 24th of the year as the Wild got the 4-3 victory of the Predators.
In Raleigh, the Hurricanes hosted the Flames and in the first Jordan Martinook scored his 11th to put Carolina up 1-0 and then Sebastian Aho’s 25th put the Canes up 2-0. In the second, Jalen Chatifeld scored his sixth to put Carolina up 3-0 and then the Canes took the 4-0 lead with Andrei Svechnikov’s 16th of the year. Calgary then got on the board when Dryden Hunt scored his third of the year but Brent Burns got Carolina the four goal lead with his 10th of the year. Seth Jarvis then scored his 20th of the year as Carolina made it a 6-1 game. In the third, Yegor Sharangovich’s 27th of the year brought Calgary within four but Teuvo Teravainen netted his 21st of the year as the Hurricanes blew by the Flames 7-2.
In the Windy City, the Blackhawks took on the Coyotes and in the first Arizona took the 1-0 lead when Clayton Keller scored his 24th of the year. In the second, Clayton Keller scored his second of the night to put Arizona up 2-0 but then Connor Bedard scored his 18th to bring the Blackhawks within a goal. Then, Colin Blackwell scored his sixth of the year to tie the game and then Connor Bedard’s power play goal gave the ‘Hawks the 3-2 lead. Dylan Guenther then scored his ninth to tie the game on the power play for the ‘Yotes and then a power play goal from Tyler Johnson put Chicago back in the lead. In the third, Colin Blackwell scored his second of the night to put the Blackhawks up two but then Nick Schmaltz scored his 19th of the year to bring Arizona within a goal. Then, Ryan Donato scored his eighth to put Chicago back up two and then Colin Blackwell got the hat trick with an empty netter as the Blackhawks downed the Coyotes 7-4.
In Anaheim, the Islanders made the trip to face the Ducks and in the first New York went up 1-0 with Casey Cizikas’ eighth of the year and then Kyle Palmieri scored his 20th of the year to put the Isles up two. Then, Brock Nelson scored his 29th on the power play to give the Islanders the 3-0. In the second, Anaheim got on the board when Alex Killorn got his 12th of the year. In the third, New York went back up three when Bo Horvat scored his 26th of the year and then Pierre Engvall netted his eighth of the year as the Isles went up four. Then, Cal Clutterbuck scored his fifth of the year as the Islanders stomped the Ducks 6-1.

With a scoreless overtime, the game moved the shootout where Alex Tuch scored the game winner to give the Sabres the 3-2 win over the Oilers.
Nashville Predators v. Columbus Blue Jackets – 12:30p ET
In Columbus, the Blue Jackets hosted the Predators and in the first Nashville took the 1-0 lead with Kiefer Sherwood’s eighth of the year. In the second, Columbus tied the contest when Alexandre Texier scored his 10th of the season. In Montreal, Original Six archrivals faced off with the Maple Leafs and the Canadiens. In the first, Montreal went up 1-0 when Mike Matheson scored his ninth. In the second, Toronto got a pair of goals when Bobby McMann and Max Domi each got on the scoresheet. In the third, Alex Newhook scored an empty netter as Montreal evened the score but then John Tavares scored his 20th of the year as the Maple Leafs downed the Canadiens 3-2.
In San Jose, the Senators visited the Sharks and in the first Thomas Bordeleau scored his third on the power play to give San Jose the 1-0 lead. In the third, Chicago got on the board when Tyler Johnson scored his 13th of the year but the Capitals stood by as they downed the Blackhawks 4-1.

In an Original Six match-up in Beantown, the Bruins and Maple Leafs renew their rivalry. In the first, David Pastrnak scored on the power play to put Boston up 1-0. In the second, Trent Frederic scored his 17th of the year to put the B’s up 2-0 but then Mitch Marner scored on the power play to put Toronto on the board. Morgan Geekie scored a power play goal of his own to put Boston back up two and then Brandon Carlo scored his fourth of the year. Following a scoreless third, the Bruins went on to down the Maple Leafs 4-1.
In Raleigh, the Hurricanes hosted the Canadiens and in the first Joshua Roy scored his third to put Montreal up 1-0. Brady Skjei then scored his ninth of the year to put Boston on the board. In the second, Stefan Noesen then struck with his 14th of the year to put Carolina in the lead. In the third, Bradyn Skjei scored his second of the night to put the Canes up two and then Andrei Svechnikov scored an empty netter as the Hurricanes breezed by the Canadiens 4-1.
In Columbus, the Blue Jackets hosted the Oilers and in the first Mathieu Oliver scored his third of the year to make it a Columbus 1-0 lead and then Alex Nylander scored his fifth of the year to give the Jackets the 2-0 lead. Then, Dmitri Voronkov struck with his 17th of the year to put Columbus up 3-0. In the second, Zach Hyman got Edmonton on the board with his 43rd of the year. In the third, Corey Perry scored a power play goal to bring Edmonton within a goal but then Jack Roslovic scored an empty net goal to lift the Blue Jackets to the 4-2 victory over the Oilers.
In South Florida, the Panthers hosted the Flyers and after a scoreless first Ryan Poehling scored his eighth to put Philly in the lead but Gustav Forsling’s 10th of the year tied the game. In the third, Garnet Hathaway’s seventh of the year gave the Flyers the 2-1 win over the Panthers.
In Newark, the Devils hosted the Blues and in the first Timo Meier scored a pair of goals to give New Jersey the 2-0 lead. In the second, Brandon Saad scored his 18th to put St. Louis on the board but then Timo Meier struck to get the hat trick. In the third, Erik Kaula scored his 13th of the year as the Devils downed the Blues 4-1.
Washington Capitals v. Pittsburgh Penguins – 7p ET
In the Steel City, the Penguins and Capitals went to battle and in the first Washington took the 1-0 lead with a shorthanded goal from Tom Wilson. In the second, Alex Ovechkin scored a power play goal to put the Caps up 2-0 and then Nick Jensen scored his first goal of the year to make it a 3-0 Washington lead. Then, Hendrix Lapierre scored his sixth of the year to make it a 4-0 Washington lead followed by Ivan Miroshnichenko scoring his first career NHL goal to put the Caps up 5-0. In the third, Sonny Milano’s ninth of the year gave the Capitals the dominant 6-0 shutout win over the Penguins.
In Tampa, the Lightning hosted the Flames and in the first Dryden Hunt scored his second of the year to put Calgary in the lead but then Conor Sheary’s second of the year tied the game. In the second, Yegor Sharangovich scored a pair of goal to put Calgary up 3-1 and then Jakob Pelletier’s first put the Flames up three. Then, Anthony Cirelli’s 14th of the year brought Tampa within two. In the third, Blake Coleman scored his 26th of the year to put Calgary up 5-2 and then Andrew Mangiapane hit an empty net to put the Flames up four. Tampa’s Michael Eyssimont then scored his ninth but the Flames went on to double up the Lightning 6-3.
In Nashville, the Predators hosted the Sabres and in the first, Filip Forsberg scored his 31st on the power play to put Nashville up 1-0 but then Bowen Byram scored his ninth to tie the game. Then, Luke Evangelista scored his 12th on the power play to put the Preds back in the lead. After a scoreless second, Filip Forsberg scored a pair to complete the hat trick but then Owen Power scored his fifth of the year. However, the Predators escaped with the 4-2 win over the Sabres.
The trades are heating up in the NHL as we would see five impactful trades take place along with a signing and three games.

The Washington Capitals announced that they have re-signed defenseman Rasmus Sandin.
Sandin would sign a five year deal with an AAV of $4.6 million per season.

The Edmonton Oilers, Anaheim Ducks, and Tampa Bay Lightning would make a three team trade.
The Oilers acquired forwards Adam Henrique and Sam Carrick, and Anaheim’s 2024 7th Rd Pick.
The Oilers would also acquire the signing rights to goaltender Ty Taylor.
The Ducks acquired Edmonton’s 2024 1st Rd Pick, and a conditional 2025 5th Round Pick (EDM).
The Lightning would acquire a conditional 2026 4th Rd Pick (EDM).
The Ducks retained 50% of both Carrick (to EDM) and Henrique’s (to TB) salaries.
The Lightning also retained 50% of Henrique’s remaining salary when trading him to Edmonton.

The Rangers would acquire forward Alex Wennberg.
The Kraken would acquire a 2024 2nd Rd Pick and a conditional 2025 4th Rd Pick (DAL).
The Kraken retained 50% of Wennberg’s salary.

The NHL Department of Player Safety announced that they have suspended Calgary Flames forward Martin Pospisil.
Pospisil would be suspended for three games for boarding Seattle Kraken defenseman Vince Dunn on Monday night.
Pospisil will forfeit $12,109.38 based on his average annual salary per the terms of the CBA.

Then after a scoreless third period Auston Matthews would end it as the Maple Leafs would defeat the Sabres 2-1 in overtime.
