      • In Vancouver for what could be Bruce Boudreau’s final game behind the bench for the Canucks, they take on the Edmonton Oilers, and in the first period Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman would score to give the Oilers the 2-0 lead. In the second period Leon Draisaitl would score to grow the Oilers lead to three, but Andrei Kuzmenko would score to get the Canucks on the board and back within two.       • In Vegas the Alex Ovechkin less Washington Capitals would come to town to battle the Golden Knights, and in the first period Alec Martinez and Nicolas Roy would score to give the Knights the 2-0 lead. In the second period Michael Amadio and Byron Froese would strike to grow the Knights lead to four to chase Darcy Kuemper from the Caps net.       • The Canadiens also announced that forward Jake Evans will miss 8-10 weeks with a lower-body injury that also does not require surgery.

    • The NHL and NHLPA announced that Nashville Predators forward Michael McCarron has been reinstated by the Player Assistance Program.

    • The Detroit Red Wings and San Jose Sharks made a trade.
      • The Red Wings acquired forward Jasper Weatherby.
      • The Sharks acquired forward Kyle Criscuolo.

    Today the National Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of January 9th through 15th.

    First Star – Martin Jones (G – SEA)

    • Martin Jones would go a perfect 3-0-0 with a 1.67 goals against average and a .933 save percentage that would also see him record two shutouts for the Seattle Kraken. Jones would start the week with a 21 save 4-0 shutout victory over Montreal on Jan. 9th, and then he would follow it up with a 27 save 3-0 shutout victory over Boston on Jan. 12th. Then to close out the week Jones would make 22 saves in a 8-5 victory over Chicago on Jan. 14th.

    • Lucas Raymond would record three goals and four assists for seven points in three games played for the Detroit Red Wings.       • In Music City, the Predators host the Sabres.       • In the Windy City, the Blackhawks welcome the Kraken to the Madhouse.       • In St. Louis, the Lightning make the annual trip to face the Blues. In the first, St. Louis takes the 1-0 lead when Tyler Pitlick scores his second of the year but then Brayden Point nets a pair of goals to give Tampa Bay the 2-1 lead. In the second, Nick Perbix’s fourth of the year gives Tampa Bay the two goal lead but then St. Louis comes within a goal when Pavel Buchnevich scores his 15th of the year.       • DOPS would fine Arizona Coyotes forward Clayton Keller $5,000 for cross checking Ottawa Senators defenseman Erik Brannstrom on Thursday night.

      • DOPS also fined Tampa Bay Lightning forward Mikhail Sergachev $5,000 for roughing Vancouver Canucks forward Conor Garland on Thursday night.

      • Both fines were the maximum allowed per the CBA.

      • In Pittsburgh the Penguins would host the Winnipeg Jets, and in the first period Blake Wheeler would open the scoring for the Jets, but Drew O’Connor would score to tie the game at one for the Pens.
