Montreal Canadiens Drop Home Opener

Auston Matthew’s started off the scoring for the Toronto Maple Leafs on their first powerplay of the game in the first period. Then in the second period John Tavares gave the Leafs a 2-1 lead. After the Leafs 2nd goal the game, they were dominated by the Montreal Canadiens throughout the remainder of the second period. Andrew Shaw would score the game tying goal with seconds remaining in the second. The Leafs would answer when Matthew’s scored the game winner in overtime.

The Bright Side for the Canadiens:
Jesperi Kotkaniemi had a great NHL debut picking up an assist and looking pretty great in his first regular season game and was moving the puck.

Max Domi had 2 assists after coming back from a suspension.

The Canadiens powerplay looked very solid in the first game going 1 for 4.

Carey Price looks like hes back to his normal self and made a few great saves throughout the game. One key thing Price needs to work on is handling the puck behind the net.
