First Period:

End of 1st – TML – 0         PIT – 1

Shots              9                     17

Hits               5                      10

PP                 0/0                   1/1

Analysis:

Leafs played well early but let the Pens offence in the zone for prolonged periods of time. The Pens play an aggressive offence so the puck needs to be moved quick and the Leafs defence struggled with that a bit.

Need to Do:

Quick passes, more offensive zone time. Draw penalties.

Analysis:

Leafs took over this period, but Matt Murray has played unbelieveable. Leafs need to get more traffic in front of the goaltender, right now Matt Murray is seeing everything.

Need to Do:

Get more bodies in front of the net. Matt Murray is seeing everything and playing picture perfect tonight.

PP                 0/1                    1/2

Analysis:

The Leafs played a strong game ran into a hot goalie, made one mistake on the powerplay and paid for it. Frederik Andersen played unbelievable at the other end. Leafs just need to go back and remember they didn’t lose this because of any lack of effort.
