Montreal v. Toronto – 7p ET
At Scotiabank Arena Toronto would play host to Montreal for the Battle on Bay Street, and after a score first and second periods Jesse Compher, Hannah Miller, and Victoria Bach would score to give Toronto the 3-0 victory over Montreal. Kristen Campbell would make 29 saves to earn the shutout for Toronto.

Toronto v. Boston – 7p ET
In a return to action for the PWHL, Boston would play host to Toronto, and in the first period Sarah Nurse would score to give Toronto the 1-0 lead. In the second period Natalie Spooner would net a pair of hat tricks to grow Toronto’s lead to three. Then in the third period Jamie Lee Rattray, Hannah Brandt, and Taylor Girard would score for Boston, but Kali Flanagan would score and Spooner would complete the hat trick, and net her tenth of the season, to give Toronto the 5-3 victory over Boston.

In the other game of the night Minnesota would take on Ottawa, and in the first period Amanda Boulier would net her first career PWHL goal for Ottawa to take the 1-0 lead. In the second period Abby Boreen would score to tie the game at one for Minnesota. Then in the third period Maggie Flaherty would strike for her first career PWHL goal to give Minnesota the 2-1 home victory over Ottawa.
Today the Professional Women’s Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of January 29th through February 4th.
First Star – Natalie Spooner (RW – TOR)
Natalie Spooner would record two goals and an assist in one game played for Toronto. She would be the catalyst for Toronto to defeat Minnesota 4-1 as she would also record seven shots in the game. The game also marked the second game in a row where Spooner has recorded two goals. Spooner is currently the only player for Toronto to score while on the powerplay.

Second Star – Alex Carpenter (C – NY)
Alex Carpenter would record two goals in New York’s lone game of the week. Carpenter would strike for both the game tying and game winning goals in a 4-3 overtime comeback victory over Ottawa. She would also record seven shots on goal and win 67% of her faceoffs taken.

Third Star – Abby Roque (F – NY)
Abby Roque would record a goal and two assists for three points in New York’s lone game of the week. Roque would score the first goal for New York to kickstart their comeback and would record an assist on both the tying and winning goals for New York to secure the comeback victory over Ottawa.

Today the Professional Women’s Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of January 22nd through 28th.
*Due to time constraints to get this out tonight we have used the official release from the PWHL to do this article. Next week we will be back to normal with the Three Stars of the Week, and hopefully released at a more reasonable time.
First Star – Alina Müller (C – BOS)
Müller takes first star honors a week after being named third star of the week. The 2023 college grad led all players in scoring last week, with two goals and two assists in two games played. Müller scored her first PWHL goal— a power-play marker— on January 24 against Ottawa after entering the game with five assists through her first five games. She added an assist on the game-winning-goal with just 52 seconds remaining in regulation play, clinching three standings points for her team. Müller then made it two games in a row with a goal, scoring a first-period tally against Minnesota on January 27. The Swiss star once again assisted on the game-winning goal, this time in overtime, securing her team’s second win of the week. Müller now shares the PWHL scoring lead with New York’s Alex Carpenter with nine points. She also leads the assist category with seven through six games played. The center has amassed eight points in her past four games, propelling Boston to third place in league standings.

Second Star – Brianne Jenner (C – OTT)
Jenner makes her first appearance on the ‘3 Stars of the Week’ list after recording her first three points of the season. The forward scored her first PWHL goal, the game-winner, in a 3-1 win against Toronto on January 23. In her team’s next game against Boston, Jenner recorded a power-play assist in the third period—her first PWHL assist — which, at the time, tied the game 2-2 after her team had a two-goal deficit earlier in the match. She also won 72.7% of her face-offs. Jenner finished her week in Montréal, recording another assist, which put her point streak at three games, in an overtime loss. The helper was a perfect saucer pass across the ice on the power play to teammate Hayley Scamurra, who tied the game 1-1 in the third period and headed the game toward overtime. Jenner finished the week with a face-off winning percentage of 61.3% across three games.

Third Star – Natalie Spooner (RW – TOR)
In two games played last week, Spooner netted both goals in a 2-0 win against New York, her team’s first victory on home ice this season. She scored the winner by carrying the puck into the offensive zone, evading the New York defenders, then cutting across the crease and tucking the puck between the goaltender’s pads. With five goals thus far, Spooner leads her team in goal scoring and is one of two players on Toronto with multiple goals. Her insurance marker against New York is her second power-play goal of the year— she’s the only Toronto player to score on the advantage this season. Spooner now sits second in goals in the league, one behind co-leaders Marie-Philip Poulin (MTL) and Grace Zumwinkle (MIN).

In PWHL action Montreal would play host to Ottawa, and in the first period Laura Stacey would score to give Montreal the 1-0 lead. Then after a scoreless second period Hayley Scamurra would score to tie the game at one for Ottawa to force overtime. In the extra frame Maureen Murphy would score to give Montreal the 2-1 overtime victory over Ottawa.

Boston would play host to Minnesota in the second PWHL game of the day, and in the first period Kaleigh Fratkin would net her first PWHL goal and Taylor Girard would score to give Boston a early two goal lead, but Brittyn Fleming would score to get Minnesota back within one. However, Alina Muller would score to regain the two goal lead for Boston. In the second period Grace Zumwinkle would score to get Minnesota back within one. Then int he third period Kendall Coyne Schofield would score late in regulation to tie the game at three to force overtime for Minnesota. In the extra frame Hilary Knight would score to give Boston the 4-3 overtime victory over Minnesota.

First Star – Marie-Philip Poulin (C – MON)
Marie-Philip Poulin would earn her second consecutive First Star of the Week honor after recording three goals in two games for Montreal. Poulin would score the game winning goal in a 3-2 victory over New York on Jan. 16th. The game would mark Montreal’s first road win of the season. Then on Jan. 20th she would score two goals in a 4-3 shootout loss to Toronto. Poulin would also win 57.8% of her faceoffs for the week.

Second Star – Jade Downie Landry (C – NY)
Jade Downie-Landry would also record three goals in two games played for New York, and she would kick start her week by being held off of the scoresheet in a 3-2 loss to Montreal on Jan. 16th. Then Downie-Landry would record a hat trick in a 4-1 victory over Boston on Jan. 20th. The hat trick would be scored on all three shots she would have in the game. Jade would also win 66% of her faceoffs for the week.

Then on Jan. 20th Müller would record an assist in a 4-1 loss to Boston. All of Müller’s assists were the primary assists for all of Boston’s goals for the week.
