Ladies and gentlemen welcome to another edition of TXHT Jersey Share where today we take a look at the Washington Capitals 2023 Stadium Series jersey.
For the first time in franchise history the Capitals were the road team for the Stadium Series as they traveled to Raleigh, NC to take on the Carolina Hurricanes, and with this first time road trip, the Caps decided to give their Weagle logo the main logo treatment for the first time since debuting in 2007 as part of the Caps rebrand back to the red, white, and blue.
For the jersey itself, the Caps decided to go with blowing up the logo so it covers as much of the front of the jersey as possible. With the white base the Caps did the two color tone to the Weagle as it would be dominant navy blue with white to give the logo its definition. The Caps would have some red on the jerseys, but just for the bottom of the jersey and the sleeves. Navy would also be on the sleeves, and in a semi-cool way connects with the Weagle’s wings which lets the wings go onto the sleeves a little bit.
Some minor details to note, but on the Weagle’s head there is very minimal stitch work as it allows the Weagle’s head and face have more of a pop to it, and is the only true patch to the entire front of the jersey which is sublimated. Also this is the second Caps jersey to feature laces under the collar, but unlike the 2015 Winter Classic jersey, the laces are not loose, and are made to look like the a representation of the DC flag. Lastly, in the collar it says “WASHINGTON” with the W being the Caps current third jersey logo as it has the three stars above it.
Overall, it’s an ok jersey. Not one of my favorites, and honestly I was hoping for something better, but it is what it is. Also, Adidas not adding the event patch is a bummer. Luckily you can buy it and have it added onto the jersey.

Following a crushing 6-1 loss and being forced to the brink of elimination, the New Jersey Devils look to fight another day as they take on the Carolina Hurricanes in enemy territory in game five. It was a pretty even first period with both teams trading some chances. However, it would be the Devils who would breakthrough at the 15:06 mark with a Dawson Mercer goal and get on the board first. Mercer would deflect the puck in on a long cross ice pass to give New Jersey the 1-0 lead and take the lead into the intermission.
Jacob Slavin got the Hurricanes on the scoreboard early in the early seconds of period two as he would wrist a shot from the point that way find it’s way to get by goalie Akira Schmid to tie the score up at one. Fast forward about seven minutes give or take, Timo Meier would pot one in on the power play off of a rebound from a Dougie Hamilton shot to give the Devils a 2-1 lead. Carolina did get the equalize from Brent Burns late in the period as he whipped a shot through traffic and in to tie the score up 2-2. We would take that score into the third period.
Period three was a very eventful one with both the Devils and Hurricanes trading multiple chances. Each team came super close but both Akira Schmid & Frederik Andersen kept their respective teams in this game and the puck out of the net. This game would now move onto overtime with the Devils hoping to stay alive, while the Hurricanes look to move onto the Eastern Conference Final.
In overtime, Devils defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler would send a puck over the glass for a delay of game penalty to put the Carolina Hurricanes on the power play. The Canes would certainly take advantage as Jesper Fast would tip in a shot from Jesperi Kotkaniemi for the overtime game winner to help Carolina advance to the conference final. The Hurricanes now await the winner of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers matchup.
Here’s how the lineup looked during warmups for Game 5:

After a wild victory the other night, the New Jersey Devils looks to even up the series against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Devils did get off to a good fast start thanks to a Jack Hughes goal that he redirected off of a Timo Meier shot to give their team a 1-0 lead. It would remain that way for a while until late in the period Martin Necas tied things up scoring on a 2 on 1 that was created off of a turnover in the neutral zone. After the first period the score would be tied 1-1.
Things started to unravel for New Jersey in the second period as the Hurricanes scored five times to really put themselves out in front as they got goals from Martin Necas (second of the game), Brett Pesce, Jesper Fast, Brent Burns, & the especially red hot Jordan Martinook. The explosion of offense would put Carolina up 6-1 after two periods.
Period three saw the Hurricanes shut down the Devils the rest of the way and not giving them much opportunity at all to get back in this one and would warn the victory by a final score of 6-1.
