    Game Recap-Round 2: Game 6 Colorado Avalanche v.s San Jose Sharks

    Game Recap:

    Tonight is a very important game between the Colorado Avalanche and San Jose Sharks. San Jose can clinch the series while Colorado can force a winner takes all Game 7. The first period of this game future no scoring between these two teams. The Avs were able to generate more scoring chances than the Sharks, but weren’t able to capitalize on them. The first period would remain scoreless.

    The second period saw both the Avalanche & Sharks trade goals. Colorado would strike first on a Tyson Jost goal from a feed from JT Compher on a 2 on 1. Marc Edourd-Vlasic would tie the game as he came towards the net and wristed in the rebound off goalie Phillip Grubauer. JT Compher would fire one past Sharks goalie Martin Jones from inside the blue line through traffic. The lead was short lived as Brent Burns would receive a pass from Erik Karlsson and fire it in the net to tie the game. After two periods, the score would be tied 2-2.

    In the third period, Colorado and San Jose would trade goals as each team would head into overtime. San Jose would tie the game on Marc Edourd-Vlasic’s second goal of the game at the 17:32 mark. In overtime, Gabriel Landeskog would be the hero as he scored the game winner in front of the net. Colorado now forces a game 7 on Wednesday night in San Jose.

    Game Recap:

    Tonight‘s game four between the Colorado Avalanche & Calgary Flames was a pivotal game for both teams. The Avalanche with a win would lead the series 3-1 while the Flames could even the series 2-2. The first period featured no scoring between either teams. Each team had some chances but neither could convert.

     

    In the second period, the Flames would strike first on a goal from Elias Lindholm. After two periods, the Flames would take a 1-0 lead.

     

    The third period became very exciting between these two teams. Calgary would tack on a second goal by Derek Ryan. However, it was an enough to hold back the Colorado Avalanche. The Avalanche would tie the game 2-2 as they got goals from JT Compher & Mikko Ranten late in the game at the 17:10 mark.

     

    In Overtime, Mikko Rantanen would be the hero as he tipped in a shot past Flames goalie Mike Smith. The Avalanche as a result now lead the series 3-1 with a chance to take out the top-seeded western conference Flames on Friday night in Calgary.

    Game Recap:

    Game 2 resumes play tonight between the Colorado Avalanche and the Calgary Flames. The first period featured no scoring between the two teams but the physical and rough play certainly was there. There were five penalties between the two teams in the first period. Each team had their power play chances but were unable to convert. After one period of play, the game would be scoreless.

     

    In the second period, both the Avalanche and Flames each got on the scoreboard. While the Flames were on the power play, Matt Nieto of the Avalanche would pick the puck off near the boards and take it down the ice to score on a breakaway shorthanded. Calgary would even the score up on a power play goal by Rasmus Andersson. Heading towards the 3rd period, the score would be tied 1-1.

     

    The third period became very exciting overall. The Calgary Flames thought they had in the game in hand as Sean Monahan scored to give the Flames the lead at the 12:27 mark. However, the Avalanche battled back late in the game to tie the score up 2-2 on a goal by JT Compher at the 17:21 mark to force in overtime.

     

    During the first two minutes and nine seconds of overtime, Ian Cole of the Avalanche was called for cross-checking. The Avalanche were able to kill the penalty and gave themselves the opportunity to remain in the game. Moments later, Avalanche superstar and captain Nathan MacKinnon, scored the game-winning goal in overtime to help even the series at one game apiece. The Colorado Avalanche host the Calgary Flames on Monday night at the Pepsi Center in Denver, CO.
