TXHT Jersey Share – Special Fan Submission

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, we have a very special edition of TXHT Jersey Share as we have a fan submission to the series from Joshua Benkin.

Joshua: I have a Baltimore Skipjacks red road jersey when Abe Pollin’s Centre Management group ran the Baltimore Arena, as a part of the agreement the AHL team there became the Caps (Washington Capitals) top affiliate and the (Washington) Bullets (of the NBA) returned to play 4 games a year.

Here’s a video of the jersey history of Baltimore Minor League hockey:

Here is the Baltimore Skipjacks Road jersey when Abe Pollin managed the Baltimore (now Royal Farms) arena and they were a Caps affiliate.  Before the Caps were established my Dad and I went up to Baltimore to see the Clippers play AHL hockey.   The three main teams to play there were the Clippers, then in the late 90s, for a half season, the WHA Michigan Stags became the Blades which were a league owned place holder team and folded at season end.   Then the new Clippers came in and later had to change name to Skipjacks due to copyrights.  The last they had was the first pro team in that town to wear purple, the Bandits which were a (Anaheim Mighty) Ducks affiliate.

Thank you Joshua for your submission, and your story about the your Skipjacks jersey. Both pictures are courtesy of Joshua Benkin.

TXHT Jersey Share – Heading to the Minors

We’re heading to the minors today in TXHT Jersey Share as we take a look at this beautiful Manchester Monarchs jersey.

So full disclosure the number one reason I got this jersey because it was purple, and that is my favorite color. Also this a jersey I purchased from my friends Mark and John when they were doing their moving sale before they moved from Virgina to Florida.

In regards to the jersey itself, I really like the overall design of the jersey as it does a few things differently comparedmost jerseys. The crowns on the sleeves to the word “MANCHESTER” on the bottom to mimicks when the Los Angeles King used to have “LOS ANGELES” on the bottom of their jerseys before moving to what they have now. Overall a really cool jersey.
