    • NHL’s Department of Player Saftey announced that Detroit’s Michael Rasmussen was suspended for two games for High-sticking Boston’s David Krejci.

    • The Vancouver Canucks have acquired D Ethan Bear and F Lane Pederson from the Carolina Hurricanes for a 2023 5th round draft pick.  Carolina will retain a portion of Bear’s salary.

      • In Vegas, the Ducks face off against the Golden Knights in a matinee contest. In the first period, Chandler Stephenson scores his fourth of the year on the power play to give Vegas the 1-0 lead. In the second, Reilly Smith nets his second of the year, a shorthanded goal to give Vegas the 2-0 lead and then William Karlsson scores his fourth of the year to give the Golden Knights the 3-0 lead. Nicolas Roy then strikes with his second of the year as the Golden Knights shutout the Ducks with the 4-0 win.

      • In New Jersey, the Avalanche make their lone trip to the Garden State to take on the Devils. After a scoreless first and second period, Jack Hughes scores his third goal, a power play goal, to give the Devils 1-0 lead and win over the Avalanche.

    • Pittsburgh Penguins v. Vancouver Canucks – 10p ET
      • In Western Canada, the Penguins make the lone trip to Vancouver to take on the Canucks. In the first period, Tanner Pearson scores his first of the season to give the Canucks the 1-0 lead. In the second, Bo Horvat nets his fifth of the year, a power play goal, to make it a 2-0 Vancouver lead but then Pittsburgh gets on the board when Rickard Rakell scores his fourth of the year, a power play goal In the third, Vancouver takes the 3-1 lead when Andrei Kuzmenko nets his third of the year and then Bo Horvat’s second of the night, another power play goal, puts Vancouver up by three.     • Winnipeg Jets v. Arizona Coyotes – 1030p ET
      • In the temporary home opener at Mullet Arena at Arizona State University, the Coyotes host the Jets. In the first, Arizona gets a pair of goals from Christian Fischer to give the Yotes the 2-0 lead but then Winnipeg gets on the board when Cole Perfetti scores his third of the year. After a scoreless second, Mark Scheifele’s sixth of the year ties it up for the Jets. In overtime, Blake Wheeler’s second of the year gives the Jets the 3-2 win over the Coyotes.

      • In Columbus the Blue Jackets would take on the Arizona Coyotes, and in the first period Shayne Gostisbehere and Zack Kassian would score to give the Yotes the 2-0 lead. In the second period Gostisbehere would net his second of the game and Dylan Guenther would strike to grow the Yotes lead to four.       • In Oil Country, the Penguins continue to avoid their first regular season loss on the year against the Oilers.       • In Winnipeg, the Jets look to take the Blues back to St. Louis. After a scoreless first period, the Jets get on the board when Mark Schiefele scores his fourth of the period.     NHL Stars of the Week – Dahlin Dazzles for Top Honors

    Today the National Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of October 17th through 23rd.

    First Star – Rasmus Dahlin (D – BUF)

    • This past week Rasmus Dahlin would lead all defensemen in scoring with with three goals and two assists for five points in the three games he would play for the Buffalo Sabres. On Oct. 18th Dahlin would open the week with a goal in a 4-2 victory over Edmonton, and then two nights later on Oct. 20th he would make history as the first defenseman to record a goal in their first four games of the season with a goal and an assist in a 6-3 victory over Calgary. Then to close out the week Dahlin would record another goal and assist in a 5-1 victory over Vancouver on Oct. 22nd to extend the NHL record for defensemen with his fifth consecutive game with a goal to start the season, and also set a franchise record for longest goal streak for a defenseman at any time during the season for the Sabres.

    Second Star – Brady Tkachuk (LW – OTT)

    • Brady Tkachuk would be on fire for the Ottawa Senators this past week as he would record three goals and four assists for seven points in three games played. Tkachuk would start the week off with a goal and two assists in the Sens 7-5 victory over Boston for their home opener on Oct. 18th. Then on Oct. 20th he would record two assists and eight shots in a 5-2 victory over Washington, and to close out the week Tkachuk would record a pair of goals against Arizona in a 6-2 victory on Oct. 22nd.

    Third Star – MacKenzie Blackwood (G – NJ)

    • MacKenzie Blackwood would go a perfect 3-0-0 for the New Jersey Devils this past week which would see him post a 1.33 goals against average and a .932 save percentage. Blackwood would start the week with a 18 save 4-2 victory over Anaheim on Oct. 18th, and then on Oct. 20th he would stop 16 shots in a 4-1 victory over the New York Islanders. To close out the week Blackwood would make 21 saves in a 2-1 victory over San Jose on Oct. 22nd.

      • In Columbus, the Predators and Blue Jackets face off and each team looks to get their third win on the season. In the first, Tanner Jeannot and Ryan Johansen each score their second goals of the season to give the Predators the 2-0 lead. In the second, the Blue Jackets get on the board when Jake Bean nets his first goal of the season but the Preds re-take the two goal lead when Yakov Trenin scores his first of the season.       • In Manhattan, the Sharks make the lone trip to the Big Apple and look to knock off the Rangers.       • In Long Island the Devils and the Islanders renew their rivalry. After a scoreless first period, the Devils get a pair of goals when Jack Hughes scores his first of the season and Ondrej Palat nets his second to make it a 2-0 lead. In the third, Ondrej Palat nets his second of the night to make it a 3-0 New Jersey lead but then Andres Lee gets the Islanders on the board with his second of the season.       • In the Land of 10,000 Lakes, the Canucks look to get the first win of the season over the Wild. In the first period, Minnesota takes the 1-0 lead with Mats Zuccarello’s third goal of the season but then Bo Horvat scores his fourth of the year to tie the game.       • In the Saddledome, the Flames look to stay perfect on the season against the Sabres. In the first, Andrew Mangiapane scores his second goal of the season to give the Flames the 1-0 lead but then Dylan Cozens scores his first of the season to tie the contest 1-1.       • In Edmonton, the Hurricanes look to bring the storm surge to Oil Country. In the first, Edmonton takes the 1-0 lead when Zach Hyman nets his first goal of the year, a power play goal. In the second, Andrei Svechnikov scores his fourth of the year to tie the game for the Canes but then Edmonton re-takes the lead when Ryan McLeod scores his second of the season. Connor McDavid then closes out the game, scoring an empty net goal, his fifth goal on the year, to give the Oilers the 6-4 win over the Hurricanes.

      • In Sin City, the Golden Knights and Jets face off in a Western Conference match-up.
