    • The NHL and NHLPA announced that Detroit Red Wings forward Jakub Vrana has been reinstated by the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program.
      • Vrana is now in the follow-up care phase of the program.
      • Vrana’s care continues to be administered pursuant to the player assistance program.

    • The NHL has announced that they have fined Dallas Stars forward Mason Marchment.
      • Marchment has been fined $2,000 for Diving/Embellishment under NHL Rule 64.
      • Marchment was issued a Warning following an incident that took place on Nov. 26th against Colorado, and then was hit with his second citation for an incident that took place on Dec. 8th against Ottawa.
      • The second citation triggered the fine as per NHL Rule 64.

    Today the National Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of December 5th through 11th.

    First Star – Charlie Lindgren (G – WAS)

    • Charlie Lindgren would go a perfect 4-0-0 with a 1.50 goals against average and a .949 save percentage. To open the week Lindgren would stop 28 shots in a 3-2 victory over Edmonton on Dec. 5th, and then he would 29 saves in a 4-1 victory over Philadelphia on Dec. 7th. On Dec. 9th he would make 25 saves in another 4-1 victory, this time over Seattle. Then on Dec. 11th Lindgren would close out the week with a 29 save 5-2 victory over Winnipeg.

    Second Star – Tage Thompson (C – BUF)

    • Tage Thompson would record five goals and two assists for seven points in three games played for the Buffalo Sabres. To open up the week Thompson would record five goals and an assist in a 9-4 victory over Columbus on Dec. 7th. Then on Dec. 9th he would record an assist in a 4-3 overtime loss to Pittsburgh, and would close out the week scoreless in a 3-1 defeat to Pittsburgh on Dec. 10th.

    Third Star – William Nylander (RW – TOR)

    • William Nylander would record three goals and four assists for seven points in three games played for the Toronto Maple Leafs. To start the week Nylander would not record a point in a 4-0 loss to Dallas on Dec. 6th, but he would record a goal and an assist in a 5-0 victory over Los Angeles on Dec. 8th. To close out the week Nylander would record two goals and three assists in a 5-4 overtime victory over Calgary on Dec. 10th.

    • Colorado Avalanche v. St. Louis Blues – 3p ET
      • In St. Louis it would be a Reverse Retro battle between the Colorado Avalanche and Blues, and after a scoreless first period Mikko Rantanen would strike to give the Avs the 1-0 lead. Then in the third period Vladimir Tarasenko and Brandon Saad would score to give the Blues the 2-1 lead, but Rantanen would net his second of the game with 9 seconds left in regulation to force overtime. In the extra frame Rantanen would complete the hat trick as the Avalanche would defeat the Blues in overtime 3-2.
    • Los Angeles Kings v. Columbus Blue Jackets – 6p ET
      • In Columbus the Blue Jackets would go to battle with the Los Angeles Kings, and in the first period Kirill Marchenko would net his first career NHL goal and Boone Jenner would score to give the Jackets the 2-0 lead. In the second period Patrik Laine would score for the Jackets, but goals from Anze Kopitar, Blake Lizotte, and Jaret Anderson-Dolan would tie the game at three for the Kings. However, before the end of the second Jack Roslovic would strike shorthanded and then on the powerplay to give the Jackets the 5-3 lead. Then in the third period Kopitar would net his second of the game and Adrian Kempe would score to tie the game at five for the Kings. In overtime it would be Johnny Gaudreau with the winner as the Blue Jackets would defeat the Kings 6-5.
    • Seattle Kraken v. Florida Panthers – 6p ET
      • In Florida the Seattle Kraken would come to town to battle the Panthers, and in the first period Matty Beniers would score to give the Kraken the 1-0 lead. In the second period Eric Staal would net his first as Panther to tie the game at one, but Andre Burakovsky would score to retake the lead for the Kraken. Then in the third period Matt Kierstad would strike for the Panthers, but goals from Jordan Eberle, Daniel Sprong, and Yanni Gourde would give the Kraken the 5-2 victory over the Panthers.
    • Philadelphia Flyers v. Arizona Coyotes – 7p ET
      • In Arizona the Coyotes would host the Philadelphia Flyers at the Mullett, and in the first period Clayton Keller would strike on the powerplay to give the Yotes the 1-0 lead. In the second period Morgan Frost and James van Riemsdyk would score to give the Flyers the 2-1 lead, but Keller would net his second of the game to to tie the game at two, and then Jack McBain would score to give the Yotes the 3-2 lead. However, before the end of the second Owen Tippett would score to tie the game at three for the Flyers. Then in the third period Nick Ritchie would score to give the Yotes, but Travis Konecny would score for the Flyers to tie the game at four. In overtime it would be Keller completing the hat trick to give the Coyotes the 5-4 victory over the Flyers.
    • Washington Capitals v. Winnipeg Jets – 7p ET
      • In Winnipeg the Jets would go to battle with the Washington Capitals, and after a scoreless first period Trevor van Riemsdyk and Evgeny Kuznetsov would score to give the Caps the 2-0 lead, and they wouldn’t stop as while they were shorthanded Marcus Johansson would score on a penalty shot to grow their lead to three. Before the end of the second Lars Eller would strike to give the Caps the commanding 4-0 lead. Then in the third period Adam Lowry would end the Caps shutout bid followed by a tally from Pierre-Luc Dubois to get the Jets back within two, but Alex Ovechkin would get goal number 797 to give the Capitals the 5-2 victory over the Jets.
    • Boston Bruins v. Vegas Golden Knights – 8p ET
      • In Vegas the Boston Bruins would look for revenge as they take on the Golden Knights, and in the first period Mark Stone would score to give the Knights the 1-0 led. In the second period Patrice Bergeron would score to tie the game at one for the Bruins. Then in the third period Jake DeBrusk and Charlie Coyle would score to give the Bruins the 3-1 victory over the Golden Knights.

      • DoPS first announced the suspension of Buffalo Sabres forward Jeff Skinner.
        • Skinner was suspended for three games for cross checking Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jake Guentzel.
        • Skinner will forfeit $145,945.95 per the terms of the CBA and based on his average annual salary.

      • DoPS also announced that they have suspended Seattle Kraken defenseman Jamie Oleksiak for three games for an illegal check to the head of Washington Capitals defenseman Alezander Alexeyev.
        • Oleksiak will forfeit $74,594.58.
