    TXHT Jersey Share – Bonzai!!

Today on TXHT Jersey Share we take a look at a Washington Capitals retro red jersey customized to Capitals Legend Peter Bondra.

    Bondra Retro Red Front

So I actually haven’t touched base on this jersey outside of the Capitals alternate jersey, but this jersey is what the Capitals wore from when they entered the league in 1974 all the way up to 1995. This is the only one I have from the NHL Vintage Series, and when I had the opportunity to I had is customized to my favorite player of all time Peter Bondra.

    Bondra Retro Red Back

Bondra is someone I tried to emulate my game after in ice hockey, except I didn’t exactly have the skill set like Bondra to pull it off. *laughs*

One of my most fundest memories of seeing Bondra play live was the game against the Tampa Bay Lightning at the old Capital Centre then known as US Air Arena when he would score 5 goals against the Lightning. Bondra also shot a puck over the boards during pregame warmups and I got the puck. Still have it to this day in safe keeping.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – Hendy!!

    TXHT Jersey Share – Hendy!!

Today on TXHT Jersey Share we now get to shift our focus over to some signed jerseys starting with this replica Washington Capitals 2011 Winter Classic Matt Hendricks jersey.

    WC11 Hendricks Front

So funny story about this one. I orginally ordered through NHL Shop a John Erskine Winter Classic jersey, but it was taking forever so I tried cancelling it and went to Modell’s and picked up a blank Capitals Winter Classic jersey to have customized by the Capitals Team Store to an Erskine jersey. Well before I could get to the team store the Erskine jersey arrived because the NHL Shop never cancelled my order despite sayingt hey would. Good job NHL Shop.

    WC11 Hendricks Back

So I decided to get another player that I really liked on the team for my now second Winter Classic jersey, and that was forward Matt Hendricks. I loved Hendricks when he played. He was a hard working player that put in 110% every game he played. I was able to get this jersey autographed after one of the team practices by Hendricks, and I will say this. Hendricks was one of the greatest guys to talk to and I would like to personally congratulate him on an amazing career and wish him nothing but the best with the Minnesota Wild Front Office.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – The Beginning

TXHT Jersey Share – The Beginning

On today’s edition of TXHT Jersey Share we look at where it all began for me as an ice hockey player. Frederick Sport & Ice Arena.

    FS&IA Front

Before it was known as Skate Frederick it was Frederick Sport & Ice Arena, and at FSIA is where I learned how to play ice hockey. Just like most kids learning to play, I obviously wasn’t very good. My skills didn’t truly develop until I was older, and too late. *laughs*

    FS&IA Back

I can’t remember what team I played for, besides the red team, but I know that this was definitely my first jersey because my coach at the time wanted to make a point to have our jerseys with our names on them so they would be memorable keepsakes. He was right. *laughs*

  • TXHT Jersey Share – First Goal

TXHT Jersey Share – First Goal

Today on TXHT Jersey Share we stick with Skate Frederick and their House League as we look at the last team I played for in Ice Hockey.

    SF Maple Leafs 2004 Front

So this would unfortunately be the last team I would play for in ice hockey, and the last time I got to play for Bill Barse. The Fall 2004 season would be my last in ice hockey, and I was determined of making the most of it. Surprisingly leading up to this season I had never scored a goal in ice hockey, but in the first game of the season I would shoot one five hole to get my first ever ice hockey goal. It was exciting, and then in the next game I would score my second goal. I wouldn’t score again but I would rack up 18 assists and about 40 penalty minutes.

    SF Maple Leafs 2004 Back

For this final season I wore the number 10 as the 12 jersey was too small, and there was no 16 jersey. It was a good season. Just wish my last game had a better ending then the one I had. Such a sour way to end it.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – First Championship

TXHT Jersey Share – First Championship

Today in TXHT Jersey Share we take a look at the jersey that was worn when I won my first and only ice hockey championship.

    SF Blackhawks 2004 Front

In the Spring of 2004 after a rockey return to Churchill’s JV team that saw me play two minutes in the JV State Championship Game, I returned to Skate Fredeerick for their Spring House League and played under my long time coach Bill Barse for the SF Blackhawks. For the majority of the season and for the playoffs I played my natural position of left wing and was primarily playing on the fourth line which I was ok with. rarely did I have to go between the pipes as Bill had brought on two other goalies to play, and I only played in net when they weren’t available. However, when Iplayed goalie I wore my Churchill jerseys as my normal SF Blackhawks jersey was too small and would only fit under my forward gear.

    SF Blackhawks 2004 Back

Well insert the Championship game and I was preparing to play forward on the fourth line like usual until Bill comes to my dad and I and told me I was playing in goal because the other two goalies wouldn’t be able to come. Well luckily we always kept my goalie gear in the car just in case, and so we had to swap out the gear that I was going to wear that night. Only issue was that I needed to wear my team’s jersey, so Bill actually went and grabbed one of the spare jerseys and gave me what would be the jersey I would wear for my only Ice Hockey Championship (picture lost in my mom’s multitude off messes in the basement). I’ve only worn this jersey once, and luckily once was enough as we won that game 7-5 over the SF Wild.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – The Start of the Street Sharks

TXHT Jersey Share – The Start of the Street Sharks

Welcome to another edition of the TXHT Jersey Share series as we go to the realm of ball hockey today.

    Street Sharks Front

Back in late 2009/early 2010 a group of friends and I talked about playing in a ball hockey league in Fairfax, VA and in the process created our own team. Now originally the team was going to be called the “John Cusacks” and have pink uniforms, but at the last minute the name “Street Sharks” was thrown out there and the rest you would say is history.

    Street Sharks Back

I remember when it came to getting uniforms for the team Modell’s still cared about hockey (I think?), and team captain Mateo Samper and I looked at their website and looked over the ball hockey jerseys they had. This specific design really jumped out at us, and the Navy with White really worked well. Having the team name on the front, and then the names and numbers on the back in Silver had a nice touch to it. The red border on the team name and numbers came out really nicely too. Overall a solid jersey that was still being worn recently until the recent team rebrand as now no original Street Sharks are on the team anymore, and the team has taken on a new identity.

For the record, it’s ball hockey. The reason no original Street Sharks are on the team anymore is because real life came into play so some aren’t playing anymore, and others branched out and are playing in other leagues now.

TXHT Jersey Share – The Protector of Gotham

Today on TXHT Jersey Share we take a look at a very soecial Batman jersey from Geeky Jerseys.

    Knights Geeky Front

This is a very special jersey to me for two reasons.

    1. This was my first jersey from Geeky Jerseys.

    2. I won this jersey from Geeky Jerseys in a Twitter contest days after I was laid off from my job.

    Knights Geeky Back

Having been able to win this jersey meant a lot to me. I was in a really bad place after losing my job, and winning this jersey really made me happy. Sometimes in life it’s the little things like this that can brighten your day when things have not been going well. I’m very appreciative of Geeky Jerseys, and this is a jersey I truly cherish.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – The Story Behind the Number 75

TXHT Jersey Share – The Story Behind the Number 75

Ladies and Gentlemen we are back with another edition of TXHT Jersey Share as we continue looking at Michael’s Churchill jerseys.

    Churchill Navy Front

Now despite the things I said yesterday about not having the most fun of times with Churchill, it did allow me to do something I had wanted to do and that was change my jersey number from my typical 12, 10, or 16 to the number 75 and Churchill allowed me to do that. Now way the number 75 you ask? Here’s why…

    Churchill Navy Back

The number 75 is the age of how old my grandfather was when he passed away in June 2000. I wear the number 75 out of respect to him. My grandfather was Sgt. Major Lesser Lindenbaum who fought in both World War 2 and the Korean War. He was also someone that I was very close to, and wish I got to spend more time with. When he passed away it devastated me, and playing hockey helped me get through the pain of losing him. Also when he passed away that was when I decided to change my number officially to 75.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – High School Days

TXHT Jersey Share – High School Days

Ladies and Gentlemen, TXHT Jersey Share is now going to get deep with the jerseys and their meanings for having them, and we start that off today with my first Churchill High School jersey.

    Churchill White Front.jpg

So for Churchill, they were the first real team I played on outside of the Skate Frederick house league, and it was a shock to know that I was originally cut as a forward only to be brought back as a goaltender, though I never played nor dressed for an actual game during my sophmore year with the team.

    Churchill White Back.jpg

Now when I got to my senior year of high school I did get into a couple games but more in spot relief which was really lame. I mean I played two minutes in the JV State Championship, didn’t face a shot, then was pulled to only have our starting goalie give up the 6th goal of th game. Yea, wasn’t fun times for me with Churchill.

TXHT Jersey Share – Finally Champions!

Today in the TXHT Jersey Share series we celebrate the Washington Capitals 2018 Stanley Cup Championship.

    Capitals Away White 2018.jpg

Finally after so much torture as a Capitals fan it was with great joy when the Washington Capitals won the Stanley Cup in 2018. For what I originally wanted to was  get the Capitals road jersey with the Finals patch on it, and then have the home jersey with the Champions patch on it. Obviously I switched it due to jersey availability, and also it made a better concept to go with the Capitals home with the Finals patch as they played two games at home, and then the Champions patch on the road jersey because they won the Stanley Cup on the road in Vegas.
