    NWHL News and Notes – June 24th, 2019

    Today in the NWHL both the Boston Pride and Minnesota Whitecaps re-signed players for the 2019-20 season.

     

    First for the Pride they re-signed defender Lauren Kelly to a one year contract.

    Kelly becomes the fifth defender to sign with the Pride for the 2019-20 season. She will also be entering second season with the team.

     

    Then the Whitecaps re-signed Brooke White-Lancette to a one year contract.

    White-Lancette will be entering her second season with the Whitecaps in the NWHL and 16th overall with the franchise.

     

    Both players did not have their salaries disclosed.

     

    All players will partake in the 50 percent cut of revenue from league sponsorship and media deals. Plus they will also receive 15 percent of revenue from apparel sold with their name on it.

    Today in the NWHL, we had one announcement today that Boston Pride has re-signed forward McKenna Brand for the 2019-20 season.

    Brand, who will be entering her second season with the Pride and the NWHL, scored 6 goals and 11 assists for 17 points in her rookie season in 2018-19, and ranked fifth overall in scoring in the NWHL. Brand’s salary was not disclosed.

     

    All players will partake in the 50 percent cut of revenue from league sponsorship and media deals. Plus they will also receive 15 percent of revenue from apparel sold with their name on it.

    Today in NWHL news, we had a three big signings for the Buffalo Beauts, Metropolitan Riveters, and Boston Pride this morning.

     

    First up, the Buffalo Beauts have signed goaltender Mariah Fujimagari for the 2019-20 season.

    Fujimagari will be entering her first season in the NWHL after spending the last two seasons in Slovakia (2017-18) and with the Worcester Blades of the now defunct CWHL (2018-19).

     

    Then it was announced that Rebecca Morse has re-signed with the Riveters for her fourth season with the team.

    Morse, who is a New Jersey native and 2018 Isobel Cup Champion, will be bringing her leadership and versatility back to the Riveters for the 2019-20 season.

     

    Lastly to cap off the morning signings, Jillian Dempsey has re-signed with the Pride for the 2019-20 season.

    Dempsey, the captain of the Pride for the past two seasons, is tied for first overall in career NWHL goals (29 – Tied with Madison Packer), and is second all time in points (58) in the NWHL. Dempsey is also a two time NWHL All Star.

     

    All three player’s salaries were not disclosed.

    Today in the NWHL teams continue to build their rosters through free agency with two announced signings.

     

    First up we have the Boston Pride re-sign Mary Parker to a one year contract.

    Parker will be entering her third full season in NWHL. Parker’s salary was not disclosed.

     

    Then the Minnesota Whitecaps re-signed 2018-19 Newcomer of the Year Jonna Curtis for the 2019-20 season.

    Curtis will be entering her second season with both the Whitecaps and the NWHL as she looks for her second Isobel Cup. Curtis’ salary was not disclosed.

    NWHL News and Notes – June 5th, 2019

    This morning was a busy one for the NWHL as they made three free agent signing announcements.

     

    First it was the Connecticut Whale re-signing defender and NWHL veteran Elena Orlando to a one year deal.

    Orlando will be playing in her fourth season with the Whale, and her fifth in the NWHL. Orlando’s salary was not disclosed.

     

    Next up it would be announced that the Boston Pride has re-signed Mallory Souliotis to a one year contract.

    This will be Souliotis’ second full season with the Pride and in the NWHL. Souliotis’ salary was also not disclosed.

     

    Then it would be the Minnesota Whitecaps signing the goaltender of free agency when the re-signed Amanda Leveille for the 2019-20 season.

    Leveille is a two time Isobel Cup Champion (2017 with Buffalo, and 2019 with Minnesota), and with her sigming she became the 15th player to sign for the 2019-20 season. Leveille’s salary was also not disclosed.

    Today in the NWHL we had a couple more signings announced for the 2019-20 season.

     

    First up, the Connecticut Whale have re-signed defender Taylor Marchin to a one year deal.

    Marchin’s salary for the 2019-20 season was not disclosed.

     

    Then next up the Boston Pride has signed the 12th overall pick of the 2017 NWHL Draft Lexie Laing to a one year deal.

    Laing’s salary was also not disclosed.

    Today the NWHL has announced that the Boston Pride has signed defender Lexi Bender to a one year contract.

    Bender will make $13,000 in salary, and she will also partake in the 50 percent cut of revenue from league sponsorship and media deals. Plus she will also receive 15 percent of revenue from apparel sold with her name on it.

    Today the National Women’s Hockey League has announced two more signings for the 2019-20 season.

     

    First signjng to be announced was that the Boston Pride have signed 2018 NWHL Draft pick Jenna Rheault to a one year contract.

    Rheault will be making $7500 this season in salary.

     

    Next up the NWHL announced that the Metropolitan Riveters have signed their 2018 NWHL Draft pick Cailey Hutchison to a one year deal.

    Hutchison’s salary was not disclosed for the 2019-20 season.

     

    Both players will partake in the 50 percent cut of revenue from league sponsorship and media deals. Plus they will also receive 15 percent of revenue from apparel sold with their name on it.

     

    Then later this afternoon the NWHL announced that the Buffalo Beauts have hired Mandy Cronin as their new General Manager.

    Cronin is one of the co-founders of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League, and also the founder of M-Power Hockey. As part of her duties as GM, Cronin will collaborate with the league in the hiring of coaches, construction of a roster, and overall management of the team and Beauts’ staff.
