TXHT Jersey Share – Beware the Storm

Ladies and gentlemen welcome to another edition of TXHT Jersey Share where today we take a look at our third Reverse Retro 2.0 jersey with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

For the 2022-23 season the Lightning would hit a home run this time around as they would bring back the Thunderstorm jersey, but this time with a color swap to it. Originally worn from the 1996-97 season through the 1998-99 season, the Lightning’s Thunderstorm jersey would be blue “skies” with black water to insinuate a thunderstorm during night over the bay. The sleeves on the original would be black with lightning running down the sleeves. The shoulders would also be grey to represent the storm clouds. It was a very intuitive jersey design, especially for the late 90’s that had plenty of crazy designs.

Fast forwarding to this past season, the Lightning would do some changes. For one, they would make the jersey white and the water blue. The rain on the jersey would go from grey and black to grey and blue, but the sleeves and shoulders would remain black and grey respectively. The lightning on the sleeves however, would become patches instead of sublimated like before.

Overall, this is a fun jersey for the Lightning and one that was very well received when it was unveiled. Plus the Reverse Retro battles they had with the Panthers and their Miami Vice vibe jerseys meshed really well together. All in all, a great jersey to have in the collection.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – Bringing Back the Pedestal

TXHT Jersey Share – Bringing Back the Pedestal

Ladies and gentlemen welcome to another edition of TXHT Jersey Share where today we take a look at the Calgary Flames Reverse Retro 2.0 jersey.

For the return of the Reverse Retro program this past season there were some high expectations for a lot of teams this time around, and the Calgary Flames did not disappoint. Bringing back their pedestal look that they wore from the 1994-95 season through the 1999-2000 season that the likes of Jarome Iginla, Theo Fleury, Grant Fuhr, and many others wore, however, this time they went with a black look.

One of the things that obviously makes this jersey so unique is the way the striping is done. Not just underneath the center crest logo, but on the sleeves as well. Back in the 90’s this was a very radical shift from how jerseys were designed, but it works so well too. Plus having it look like your logo is on an actual pedestal is very cool, and gives the jersey a whole new vibe to it as it’s a unique way for a team to show case their logo on their jersey.

Overall, this is an amazing jersey, and one I’m glad to have in my collection.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – Reversing Back to 2005

TXHT Jersey Share – Reversing Back to 2005

Ladies and gentlemen welcome to another edition of TXHT Jersey Share where today we take a look at the Washington Capitals Reverse Retro 2.0 jersey from the 2022-23 season.

With the return of the Reverse Retro series for the 2022-23 season the Washington Capitals thought it was so nice, they do it twice as they would return to the screaming eagle, but this time instead of doing the current Red, White, and Blue colors, they would go back to the Blue, Black, and Bronze of the 90’s and early to mid 2000’s.

The simple color swap of the Black and the Blue works nicely, and quite honestly, this looks a lot better than the 1.0 version a couple seasons earlier. It was also rumored that jersey was originally supposed to be the team’s alternate jersey back in the late 90’s, but the Dome jerseys ended up becoming the alternate’s instead.

Also, this time around there were more of these jerseys that were put into stock which means you didn’t have to get a really bad knockoff jersey. I mean seriously, look how way off the knockoffs were:

It’s not even close accurate lol. At least the first Reverse Retro line knockoffs were somewhat closer to resembling them lol.

But all in all, it’s a really great jersey, and one that the Caps themselves really enjoyed wearing. Definitely a must own for any Caps fan or jersey collector.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – Heading Home to Boston

TXHT Jersey Share – Heading Home to Boston

Ladies and gentlemen welcome to another edition of TXHT Jersey Share where today we take a look at the Boston Bruins home jersey courtesy of Cool Hockey.

The Boston Bruins have always had an iconic look throughout their history, and their current home jersey is no exception. Donning the black and yellow they’ve been known for, this jersey keep it simple with it’s striping while also keeping it look fresh and modern for the current generation. The shoulders being yellow with white underneath without a proper border is a different look, but one that doesn’t hurt it either.

The shoulder patches don the Bruins alternate logo that was used on one of their previous alternate jerseys, and the Spoked B takes it’s rightful place as the center crest.

Overall, this is a solid jersey, and one that I like better than their current alternate jersey. I may also consider sending this in to Cool Hockey to get customized later on down the road. So stay tuned to see if I do.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – A Nice Tribute to Power Rangers

TXHT Jersey Share – A Nice Tribute to Power Rangers

Ladies and gentlemen welcome to another edition of TXHT Jersey Share where today we take a look at the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers jersey from Geeky Jerseys.

This limited edition jersey is the perfect homage to the original series that debuted in 1993. Taking the White Ranger look from seasons two and three to use as the base of the jersey was a good idea as the shield works better then how the Green Ranger’s shield would have, especially once you put the center crest in perspective. Using the black shield instead of the gold shield allows the center crest to really pop out at you, and using gold for trim adds a nice aesthetic to the jersey as well.

On the back of the jersey you have the number 93 with “RANGERS” in a sleek font that is white with gold borders. It really blends nicely with the black background. While I prefer to get jerseys customized with my name or number, or just leave the back blank, this is one of the few rare ones where having it with the year the show debuted is a nice touch given how this year is the 30th anniversary.

For the sleeves I love the creative touch of doing three Rangers per sleeve. Having the power coins on the shoulders and then the respective Ranger colors in diamonds like they were on the Ranger suits on the sleeves was a really cool touch. While the coloring for the Pink Ranger is a little more on the purple side, it still looks great.

Overall, it’s a really great jersey, and a nice tribute to the series that debuted 30years ago in 1993.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – Making a Quick Stop

TXHT Jersey Share – Making a Quick Stop

Ladies and gentlemen welcome to another edition of TXHT Jersey Share where today we take a look at the Quick Stop Groceries jersey from the Kevin Smith/Geeky Jerseys collaboration series.

When watching Kevin Smith films starting all the way back to his debut film “Clerks” in 1994, Quick Stop Groceries has remained synonymous with the View Askewniverse. In 2022 with the movie “Clerks 3” Geeky Jerseys made the Quick Stop Groceries jersey for the movie and is seen in the beginning of the film when a hockey game is being played on the roof of the Quick Stop.

The jersey has black as the primary color with yellow used to for the striping on the jersey. The main crest being yellow helps compliment the jersey, and also give the Quick Stop a more modern, but still vintage feel to it.

For the name and numbers we would have yellow font for the name, and black with yellow trim for the numbers would allow the numbers to stand out a little bit.

Overall, it’s a really solid jersey that got a color swapped version a few months later.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – Representing Ming Chen

TXHT Jersey Share – Representing Ming Chen

Ladies and gentlemen welcome to another edition of TXHT Jersey Share where today we take a look at the LA Mings of the View Askew Street Hockey League (VASHL.)

Named after Ming Chen of AMC’s “Comic Book Men”, this jersey has very strong comic book vibe to it from the “POW!” logos on the shoulders to the Ming superhero comic book character on the front of the jersey. The colors vibe really nicely too. The navy base with purple, lighter blue, and yellow adds to the comic book vibe of the jersey.

The bold yellow name and numbers help players stand out, and also lends itself to the comic book vibe. I’m saying that a lot, but it’s true. I also got the shirsey version of the LA Mings jersey, and it is a great complimentary shirsey to the jersey for those that chose to go with a shirt over a jersey.

Overall, it a really great jersey, and I can’t wait to wear it this June in Brantford, Ontario, Canada for the Walter Gretzky Street Hockey Tournament.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – Ain’t Afraid of No Kraken

TXHT Jersey Share – Ain’t Afraid of No Kraken

Ladies and gentlemen welcome to another edition of TXHT Jersey Share where today we take a look at the Seattle Kraken’s road jersey courtesy of Cool Hockey.

The Seattle Kraken coming into their first season in 2021-22 the expectations were not as high for them as it was a few seasons earlier for the Vegas Golden Knight, but they looked good with these fresh jerseys. The road jerseys are the standard white with the teal, cyan and navy, plus thin red stripes on the jerseys. The font for the numbers and names are crisp and have solid look to them.

One addition I had to get on this jersey was the inaugural patch, which makes this the first jersey to have that type of patch in my collection.

Also, I broke from my tradition of getting jerseys with my name and number as I decided to get Brandon Tanev, and let’s be honest, the reason why is simple. He’s a loveable player. From his hilarious headshots, to his hard work on the ice, Tanev is a fun player to watch.

As always, Cool Hockey did an amazing job with this jersey.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – A Good Surprise from the Mystery Box

TXHT Jersey Share – A Good Surprise from the Mystery Box

Ladies and gentlemen welcome to another edition of TXHT Jersey Share where today we take a look at the one of our latest editions through Cool Hockey and their Mystery Box.

In this Mystery Box we got our first customized jersey in a very long time as I was fortunate to get a Gustav Nyquist Columbus Blue Jackets jersey. This jersey marked the first time I received a jersey with an anniversary patch AND a jersey with an alternate captain “A” on it.

Overall this is a very nice jersey, and one the Jackets have been wearing since the change over to Adidas back in 2017. This is also one of the first PrimeGreen jerseys I’ve gotten, that wouldn’t be Washington Capitals, and I must say, it looks really nice.

On the Blue Jackets themselves, I really like the overall look of the jersey. I’m especially fond of the font style they used for the name and numbers on the jersey. This was definitely a great pick up through Cool Hockey in one of their Mystery Boxes.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – Beware the Zombies

TXHT Jersey Share – Beware the Zombies

Ladies and gentlemen welcome to another edition of TXHT Jersey Share where today we take a look at the Monroeville Zombies from the Geeky Jerseys/Kevin Smith collaboration.

The Monroeville Zombies are another Original Four team from Kevin Smith’s View Askew Street Hockey League (VASHL), and the Zombies take their inspiration from the 2008 film Zack and Miri Make a Porno. In the Smith film the characters of Zack and Deacon would play for a hockey team based in Monroeville, PA called the Zombies. The team name was also a reference to George Romero’s film Dawn of the Dead which was filmed at Monroeville Mall in the 1970’s.

For the jersey itself it is a very plain jersey, but one that isn’t hurt by how plain it is. The jersey has an ash grey base with black striping on sleeves and bottom of the jersey, as well as black shoulders. It gives a nice dreary look, and the logo on the crest gives a Romero vibe which doubles as a nice little tribute to his films. For name and numbers just plain black with some grey trim on the numbers allows it to keep it’s dreary aesthetic.

And with all jerseys in the Geeky Jerseys/Kevin Smith collaborations, this one was numbered up to 420 as well, and with this one I got jersey number 35 out of 420.
