    • The PWHL Player Safety Committee announced that they have suspended Boston forward Taylor Wenczkowski.
      • Wenczkowski would be suspended for one game for roughing Ottawa defender Amanda Boulier on Jan. 24th.

    Ottawa v. Montreal – 330p ET

    • In PWHL action Montreal would play host to Ottawa, and in the first period Laura Stacey would score to give Montreal the 1-0 lead. Then after a scoreless second period Hayley Scamurra would score to tie the game at one for Ottawa to force overtime. In the extra frame Maureen Murphy would score to give Montreal the 2-1 overtime victory over Ottawa.

    Minnesota v. Boston – 4p ET

    • Boston would play host to Minnesota in the second PWHL game of the day, and in the first period Kaleigh Fratkin would net her first PWHL goal and Taylor Girard would score to give Boston a early two goal lead, but Brittyn Fleming would score to get Minnesota back within one. However, Alina Muller would score to regain the two goal lead for Boston. In the second period Grace Zumwinkle would score to get Minnesota back within one. Then int he third period Kendall Coyne Schofield would score late in regulation to tie the game at three to force overtime for Minnesota. In the extra frame Hilary Knight would score to give Boston the 4-3 overtime victory over Minnesota.

Kristen Campbell would stop all 19 shots faced to earn the shutout.

    PWHL Stars of the Week – Poulin Gets Back to Back Honors

    Today the Professional Women’s Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of January 15th through 21st.

    First Star – Marie-Philip Poulin (C – MON)

    • Marie-Philip Poulin would earn her second consecutive First Star of the Week honor after recording three goals in two games for Montreal. Poulin would score the game winning goal in a 3-2 victory over New York on Jan. 16th. The game would mark Montreal’s first road win of the season. Then on Jan. 20th she would score two goals in a 4-3 shootout loss to Toronto. Poulin would also win 57.8% of her faceoffs for the week.

    Second Star – Jade Downie Landry (C – NY)

    • Jade Downie-Landry would also record three goals in two games played for New York, and she would kick start her week by being held off of the scoresheet in a 3-2 loss to Montreal on Jan. 16th. Then Downie-Landry would record a hat trick in a 4-1 victory over Boston on Jan. 20th. The hat trick would be scored on all three shots she would have in the game. Jade would also win 66% of her faceoffs for the week.

    Third Star – Alina Müller (C – BOS)

    • Alina Müller would record four assists in two games played for Boston, and she would kick off the week with three assists in a 3-2 victory over Toronto on Jan. 17th. Then on Jan. 20th Müller would record an assist in a 4-1 loss to Boston. All of Müller’s assists were the primary assists for all of Boston’s goals for the week.

    • Boston would play host to New York for an early afternoon matinee as PWHL action would return after a couple days off, and in the first period Jade Downie-Landry would net her first of the season to give New York the 1-0 lead. In the second period Jessie Eldridge would score and Downie-Landry would net her second of the game to grow New York’s lead to three. Then in the third period Loren Gabel would score for Boston, but Downie-Landry would score to complete the hat trick and give New York the 3-1 victory over Boston.

    Toronto v. Montreal – 8p ET

    • Montreal would play host to Toronto for their first meeting of the season, and in the first period Sarah Bujold would score for Montreal to take the 1-0 lead. In the second period Jocelyne Larocque would score for Toronto to tie the game at one, but Marie-Philip Poulin would score to give Montreal the 2-1 lead. Then in the third period Maggie Connors and Natalie Spooner would score to give Toronto the 3-2 lead, but Poulin’s second of the game would tie the game at three for Montreal to force overtime. After a scoreless five minutes of extra hockey Lauriane Rougeau would score the shootout winner to give Toronto the 4-3 victory over Montreal. The game would also mark the first shootout victory in PWHL history.
