TXHT Jersey Share – Heading to the Minors

We’re heading to the minors today in TXHT Jersey Share as we take a look at this beautiful Manchester Monarchs jersey.

    Monarchs Home Purple.jpg

So full disclosure the number one reason I got this jersey because it was purple, and that is my favorite color. Also this a jersey I purchased from my friends Mark and John when they were doing their moving sale before they moved from Virgina to Florida.

In regards to the jersey itself, I really like the overall design of the jersey as it does a few things differently comparedmost jerseys. The crowns on the sleeves to the word “MANCHESTER” on the bottom to mimicks when the Los Angeles King used to have “LOS ANGELES” on the bottom of their jerseys before moving to what they have now. Overall a really cool jersey.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – Holy Retro Jersey Batman!

TXHT Jersey Share – Holy Retro Jersey Batman!

Holy Geek Jersey Batman! The TXHT Jersey Share series today takes a look at Geeky Jerseys Crusader jersey based off the 1960’s Batman TV series starring the late Adam West.

    Crusader Geeky Front.jpg

A more recent addition to my collection, this jersey had been on my radar for a while, and when it was re-released late last year for orders I hopped on the opportunity and ordered one for the collection. I mean how can you deny that amazing retro Batman logo? You can’t.

    Crusader Geeky Back

For the back of the jersey I really like the curved text for the name, and the light from the top of the Batmobile at the center right below the collar is a really nice touch to the jersey. Overall a really great design and a nice tribute to the past to Adam West’s Batman.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – Old School Becomes New School

TXHT Jersey Share – Old School Becomes New School

What is old becomes new again in today’s edition of the TXHT Jersey Share series. The past two days we have looked at two jerseys from the Washington Capitals past, and today we are looking at the reintroduction of the Capitals retro white jersey through reebok as an alternate jersey.

    Capitals Alternate White 2012.jpg

Originally brought back for the 2011 Winter Classic against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Capitals decided to bring back the original red, white, and blue uniform as their alternate jersey for the 2011-12 campaign. Honestly seeing this jersey over the Capitals then current, still current(?), away jersey has always been more appealing to the eyes, and a full time switch to this look is still very desired. Especially since 1994 and all of the jersey design changes like Reebok Edge and now Adidas AdiZero, this is a design that has been able to work on both of those jersey changes as evident with the Reebok jersey pictured above.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – A Time for Change

TXHT Jersey Share – A Time for Change

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls welcome to another edition of the TXHT Jersey Share series. Today we have the Washington Capitals blue eagle jersey that they switched to for the 1995-96 season.

    Capitals Road Blue 1996.jpg

As a kid this was the first Capitals jersey I owned, though not the one pictured as the one I had a child was donated after I grew out of it. I always loved this jersey because it was so different from how all of the other jerseys looked, though the Calgary Flames and St. Louis Blues both had really unique jerseys that I liked too. However, this is one of the hardest jerseys to find along with a quality New York Islanders Fisherman jersey, and I was able to find one but sadly the word “CAPITALS” is screen printed on instead of sewn on like how my childhood one was. Overall it’s an awesome jersey and one I cherish as it was a jersey I always loved seeing it in action.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – Going Old School

TXHT Jersey Share – Going Old School

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls welcome to another edition of TXHT Jersey Series. Today we go old school with this vintage 1994 Washington Capitals jersey.

    Capitals Home White 1994.jpg

This one is a special one in my collection as I had never truly owned any of the old school red, white, and blue jerseys as a kid, though I did have a Kevin Hatcher shirsey during the Capitals 20th Anniversary Season, so when CCM started doing the NHL Vintage series I knew picking up a Capitals retro jersey was a must.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – Playing with the Devil

TXHT Jersey Share – Playing with the Devil

Today for the TXHT Jersey Share series we have a jersey that has seen some damage through playing but with the name on the back of this one, you can’t blame the rough stuff.

Devils Home Red Stevens 2004 Front.jpg

This jersey I bought either right before the year long lockout, or during it. I can’t remember, but I do know that it was $50 at my local Modell’s in Germantown, MD, weird I know, and it was between Scott Stevens or Martin Brodeur.

Devils Home Red Stevens 2004 Back

I chose Stevens being how for one he is a former Washington Capital, but also because I liked Stevens as a player more than Brodeur. Also given at the time I was playing defense more than I was at forward, having the jersey of a defenseman to wear made logistical sense. So logical that I accidently cut up one of the sleeves when falling down during a practice *laughs*.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – Battle Tested

TXHT Jersey Share – Battle Tested

Welcome to another edition of TXHT Jersey Share, and we got a battle tested jersey for you today.

Capitals Away White Lindenbaum 2007 Front

So for today’s jersey it is the Washington Capitals away jersey that was introduced in 2007 for the 2007-08 season and was worn all the way to 2016-17 when Adidas took over from Reebok. This was the first of two away jerseys I bought for the Capitals, the other one to be featured later in this series.

Capitals Away White Lindenbaum 2007 Back

So this was one of the first jerseys that I actually got my name and number on the back that wasn’t a jersey that I got for a team that I played for. However, this did become a jersey that I would wear regularly as one of my ball hockey teams wore white, but didn’t have an official team uniform so I wore this one, and then when Russian Machine Never Breaks held their second annual ball hockey tournament Team TXHT wore white and this was the jersey I wore when we played, and to great success too.

Yup. Team TXHT defeated Team RMNB 1-0 in the Championship Game of the 2017 2nd Annual RMNB Ball Hockey Tournament. It was a great accomplishment and it was done wearing this jersey. And if Ian and RMNB want a rematch, they know where to find me. 😉

  • TXHT Jersey Share – Do You Want to Live Forever?

TXHT Jersey Share – Do You Want to Live Forever?

Welcome to the latest edition of TXHT Jersey Share. Today we have a special jersey based on the cult classic sci-fi movie “Starship Troopers”. Would you like to know more?

    Roughnecks Geeky Front.jpg

So this is a really cool jersey from Geeky Jerseys who specialize in pop culture jerseys, particularly in television, movies, and video games. This jersey is based off of Rico’s Roughnecks in the movie “Starship Troopers”. As you can see with the shoulder patches, it is the emblem that Rico and his friends and company members get when they join the Roughnecks, and the emblem on the chest is the main logo for the Federation in the film.

    Roughnecks Geeky Back

For the back of the jersey on the very top near the neck is the Victory emblem. For the name and number on the back I got it they way it is adverstised on the Geeky Jerseys website, however you can get it customized if you place your order for the jersey in their open period, which has Rico for the name and 97 for the jersey number. If I was able to oreder it a week or two earlier I would have been able to get my name and number on the back, but I’m ok with the default that Geeky Jerseys had set for it too.

Definitely a quality jersey by Geeky Jerseys. Everything is handstitched, and is top quality for you to play in too which is really awesome. So definitely a cool jersey to have.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – North of the Border

TXHT Jersey Share – North of the Border

Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls welcome to the latest edition of the TXHT Jersey Share series that sees us going up north of the border as we look at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey jersey of Team Canada.

    Canada WCH 2016 Front.jpg

Michael: Hey everyone it’s me again. So we’ve decided to do as many of my jerseys as possible to start off the TXHT Jersey Share series since I have so many *laughs*. I promise you’ll get to see other’s jerseys as this series continues to matures.

In 2016 the World Cup of Hockey returned to mixed(?) reactions, but it did one thing for us and that was introduce Adidas’ style for their hockey jerseys that would eventually come to the NHL starting the 2017-18 season. As a part of the World Cup of Hockey was a special unveiling of all eight teams uniforms and instantly I fell in love with the Team Canada and their home red jersey.

I thoroughly enjoy the sleeves with the maple leaf at the very end of them. It gives it it’s own unique feel and vibe to the jersey. While they do the same thing for the away white uniforms, it didn’t have the same feel to me as the home red jersey did.

    Canada WCH 2016 Back

Also one of the things I really liked about Team Canada’s jersey is the font style that they used for players names and numbers. It’s sleek and stylish, and it looks really good on the jersey itself.

So after seeing this stylish uniform I knew it was one that would be great to have so I actually went to Cool Hockey since everywhere else I looked for the jersey I was not satisfied with what I saw. Cool Hockey did an amazing job with the jersey as they sell officially licensed NHL jerseys, and they put the quality of their work into every customization. When I received my Team Canada jersey I was very satisfied with what I got. I highly recommend them.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – Camp of Development

TXHT Jersey Share – Camp of Development

Ladies and Gentlemen, oys and girls welcome to another edition of the TXHT Jersey Share series. For today’s jersey we have one that was procured from the 2012 Washington Capitals Development Camp and is a part of Michael’s collection.

    Capitals Training White 2016 Front.jpg

Michael: So for this edition of TXHT Jersey Share I wanted to go with my one and only Development Camp jersey which I bought at one of the Washington Capitals Fan Fests from a few years ago. This jersey belonged to Aaron Gens, and I picked up this jersey for a few reasons. For one, who wouldn’t want an official practice worn jersey by a player? I mean sure Gens never made it to the NHL, but the fact it was worn during a Capitals official Development Camp is really cool. Secondly, I really wanted a jersey that I could wear when I play ice hockey. Obviously a regular replica could always suffice, but if you’ve ever tried wearing one of those over your equipment when you buy in a size that you wouldn’t normally when playing, but for casual wear it can be a really tight fit. So getting a jersey that could fit over my equipment was obviously an important factor for me. However, the biggest I got it was because of the number on the back.

    Capitals Training White 2016 Back

That’s right. The number 75, which is the number that I wear when I play, and have been since 2001. However, the story behind the number will be told another time, as when I talk about a specific jersey it’ll be more of the personal nature.

Overall, this is a really cool jersey. The few times I’ve worn it playing ice hockey it’s breathed easily and was a comfortable fit making it a really solid addition to my collection.
