      • In a matinee match-up in the Lone Star State, Dallas hosts Calgary. In the first period, Calgary gets a pair of goals when Andrew Mangiapane nets his ninth of the year and then Trevor Lewis scores a power play goal, his eighth goal of the season, to make this a 2-0 Flames lead but then Jamie Benn gets the Stars on the board with a shorthanded goal, his 16th goal of the season. In the second, Calgary lights the lamp four times when Elias Lindholm nets his 14th of the year on the power play, Nazem Kadri gets his 17th on the season, Rasmus Andersson scoring his sixth of the season, and then Chris Tanev gets his first of the season. Dallas then cuts the Calgary lead to four when Tyler Seguin scores his 11th of the season. In the third, Joe Pavelski gets on the scoresheet twice to bring Dallas within two and then Colin Miller scores his third of the season. However, Dallas falls short of mounting a monumental comeback as the Flames narrowly escape with a 6-5 win over the Stars.

      • In Denver, the Senators make the annual trip to Colorado to face the Avalanche. In the first, Mikko Rantanen scores his 28th and then Alex Newhook scores his eighth to make it a 2-0 Avs lead. In the second, Artturi Lehkonen’s 10th of the year gives Colorado the 3-0 lead and then Rantanen scores his second of the night to put the Avs up 4-0.       • In the Motor City, the Red Wings welcome the Blue Jackets.       • In New York, the Islanders play host as the Canadiens come to town. In the third, Montreal gets on the board when Nick Suzuki scores his 16th of the year but the Islanders defeat the Canadiens with the 2-1 win.

      • In the Nation’s Capital, Washington hosts arch-rival Philadelphia to town. In the second, Philly takes back the lead when James van Riemsdyk scores his seventh of the season and then Wade Allison scores his sixth of the season as the Flyers go on to defeat the Capitals 3-1.

      • In the State of Hockey, the Wild welcome the Coyotes to Minnesota. After a scoreless first, Mats Zuccarello’s 18th of the year on a Minnesota power play puts the Wild up 1-0 and then Frederick Gaudreau’s 11th of the year puts Minnesota up 2-0. In the third, Lawson Crouse’s 16th of the year puts Arizona on the board but they are unable to mount a complete comeback as the Wild escape with the 2-1 win over the Coyotes.

      • In Music City, the Predators host the Sabres. In the first, Buffalo takes the 1-0 lead when Jeff Skinner scores his 18th of the year but then Nashville ties it up when Roman Josi scores a power play goal, his 11th of the year.       • In the Windy City, the Blackhawks welcome the Kraken to the Madhouse. In the first, Daniel Sprong’s 14th of the year gives Seattle the 1-0 lead but then Chicago gets on the board when Jonathan Toews scores his 12th of the year. Then, Seattle makes it a 2-1 lead when Matty Berniers scores his 17th of the year and then Jared McCann scores his 20th of the year to give the Kraken the two goal lead.       • In St. Louis, the Lightning make the annual trip to face the Blues. In the first, St. Louis takes the 1-0 lead when Tyler Pitlick scores his second of the year but then Brayden Point nets a pair of goals to give Tampa Bay the 2-1 lead. In the second, Nick Perbix’s fourth of the year gives Tampa Bay the two goal lead but then St. Louis comes within a goal when Pavel Buchnevich scores his 15th of the year.       • DOPS would fine Arizona Coyotes forward Clayton Keller $5,000 for cross checking Ottawa Senators defenseman Erik Brannstrom on Thursday night.

      • DOPS also fined Tampa Bay Lightning forward Mikhail Sergachev $5,000 for roughing Vancouver Canucks forward Conor Garland on Thursday night.

      • Both fines were the maximum allowed per the CBA.

Then on Jan. 7th against San Jose he would record two goals in a 4-2 victory, and to close out the week Pastrnak would record a hat trick and an assist in a 7-1 victory over Anaheim on Jan. 8th.
