    Nashville Predators v. Edmonton Oilers – 3p ET

    • In Edmonton, the Oilers hosted the Predators and in the first Edmonton got on the board when Darnell Nurse scored a power play goal but then Filip Forsberg tied the game up for Nashville. In the second, Ryan O’Reilly scored a pair to put the Preds up two but then Zach Hyman scored a power play goal to bring the Oilers within a goal. Tommy Novak then went on to score his sixth of the year to put Nashville back up two. In the third, Ryan O’Reilly got the hat trick as the Predators defeated the Oilers 5-2.

    Winnipeg Jets v. Arizona Coyotes – 4p ET

    • In Arizona, the Coyotes hosted the Jets and in the first the Coyotes jumped out to the 1-0 lead when J.J. Moser scored his second of the year. In the second, Liam O’Brien scored his second of the year to give Arizona the 2-0 lead but then Winnipeg scored a pair with Liam O’Brien and Brenden Dillon getting the goals. Then, Lawson Crouse scored a power play goal to give the lead back to Arizona, but Nino Niederreiter scored his second of the contest to tie the game 3-3. In the third, Brenden Dillon scored his second of the night and then Nino Neiderreiter completed the hat trick as the Jets flew by the Coyotes for the 5-3 win.

    Boston Bruins v. Detroit Red Wings – 7p ET

    • In an Original Six match-up in the Motor City, the Red Wings hosted the Bruins and in the first Boston got a pair with goals from James van Riemsdyk and Matthew Poitras. Detroit then got on the board when Lucas Raymond scored his fourth of the year, a power play goal. In the second, Jake Walman’s third of the year tied the game for Detroit but Charlie Coyle scored his second to put Boston back up a goal. In the third, the Red Wings got three goals when Dylan Larkin, David Perron, and Andrew Copp scored to put Detroit up two. Then, a goal from David Pastrnak would bring Boston within a goal but Detroit held on as the Red Wings squeaked by the Bruins for the 5-4 win.

    Tampa Bay Lightning v. Ottawa Senators – 7p ET

    • In Ottawa, the Lightning made the visit to the Canadian capital to take on the Senators and in the first Ottawa took the 1-0 lead when Brady Tkachuk scored his seventh of the year but Tampa tied the contest with Victor Hedman’s second of the year. In the second, Brayden Point scored his third to put Tampa up 2-1 and then Micheal Eyssimont’s third gave the Lightning the two goal lead. Brayden Point then went on to score his second of the night to make it a 4-1 Lightning lead. In the third, Claude Giroux’s third cut the Lightning lead to two but then Brayden Point finished off the hat trick to make it a 5-2 Tampa lead. Then, brady Tkachuk’s second of the night made this a 5-3 Tampa lead but Nikita Kucherov’s seventh of the year put the Bolts back up three. However, Drake Batherson scored his second for Ottawa but the Lightning would get the 6-4 win over the Senators.

    Montreal Canadiens v. St. Louis Blues – 7p ET

    • In the Gateway City, the Blues hosted the Canadiens for the lone time this season and in the first St. Louis took the 1-0 lead when Jordan Kyrou scored his second but then Juraj Slafkovsky netted his first of the season. Then, Robert Thomas scored his fourth of the year to put the Blues back up a goal. In the second, Brandon Saad’s third of the year gave St. Louis the two goal lead but Brendan Gallagher’s fourth brought the Habs within a goal. In the third, Alexey Toropchenko’s first gave the Blue the two goal lead once more and then Brayden Schenn’s first of the year gave St. Louis the 5-2 lead. Then, Kasperi Kapanen’s empty net goal put St. Louis up four but Nick Suzuki’s third of the year brought the Habs within three. However, St. Louis held on as they went on to double up the Canadiens for the 6-3 win.

    Buffalo Sabres v. Toronto Maple Leafs – 7p ET

    • In Toronto, the Maple Leafs hosted the Bruins and in the first Mitch Marner’s fourth gave Toronto the 1-0 lead but then JJ Peterka’s fifth tied the game for Buffalo. In the second, Tage Thompson’s sixth gave Buffalo the 2-1 lead but then Toronto tied the contest with Auston Matthews ninth of the year. Then, the Sabres took the 3-2 lead when Jeff Skinner scored his sixth of the year. In the third, Auston Matthews second of the night tied the contest for Toronto but then Jordan Greenway’s second of the year put Buffalo back up a goal. Then, the Maple Leafs tied it up as Auston Matthews completed the hat trick but Alex Tuch got a pair of goals as the Sabres defeated the Maple Leafs 6-4

    Columbus Blue Jackets v. Washington Capitals – 7p ET

    • In Washington, the Capitals hosted the Blue Jackets and in the first Tom Wilson and Sonny Milano scored to put Washington up 2-0. In the second, Dmitri Voronkov scored to put Columbus on the board. After a scoreless third, the Capitals held on to get the 2-1 win over the Blue Jackets.

    Los Angeles Kings v. Philadelphia Flyers – 730p ET

    • In the City of Brotherly Love, the Flyers hosted the Kings and in the first Los Angeles got a pair of goals when Adrian Kempe and Anze Kopitar scored. In the second, Arthur Kaliyev and Trevor Moore scored to put Los Angeles up 4-0. In the third, Blake Lizotte’s thrid would close the night as the Kings shutout the Flyers 5-0.

    Carolina Hurricanes v. New York Islanders – 730p ET

    • In Long Island, the Hurricanes visited the Islanders and in the first Noah Dobson scored as the Isles took the 1-0 lead. In the second, New York took the 2-0 lead with Simon Holmstrom’s third of the year and then Mathew Barzal scored his second to put the Islanders up three. Then, Carolina got on the board with Jalen Chatfield’s first of the year. In the third, Dmitry Orlov and Jesperi Kotkaniemi scored to tie the game for Carolina. In overtime, Sebastian Aho scored the gamee winer as the Hurricanes got the 4-3 win over the Islanders.

    Florida Panthers v. Chicago Blackhawks – 8p ET

    • In the Windy City, the Blackhawks hosted the Panthers and in the first Chicago got a trio of goals when Nick Foligno, Nikita Zaitsev, and Taylor Hall each scored. In the second, Connor Bedard got his fifth to put the Blackhawks up 4-0. In the third, Florida got a pair when Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Matthew Tkachuk each scored their second goals of the seoasn but an empty net goal from Philipp Kurashev gave the Blackhawks the 5-2 win over the Panthers.

    New York Rangers v. Minnesota Wild – 8p ET

    • In Minnesota, the Wild hosted the Rangers for the lone time on the year and in the first New York struck with three when Jimmy Vesey, Artemi Panarin, and Erik Gustafsson scored. In the second, Minnesota got on the board when Ryan Hartman scored his seventh and then Joel Eriksson Ek got the Wild within a goal. In the third, Mats Zuccarello and Marco Rossi each scored to give Minnesota the one goal lead but Chris Kreider’s eighth of the year tied the contest for the Blueshirts. After a scoreless overtime session, the game moved to the shootout where Matt Boldy scored the game winner as the Wild downed the Rangers 5-4.

    News

    • The PWHL Boston organisation and Hannah Brandt came to terms on a one year deal

    • The PWHL Toronto organisation and Emma Maltais, a Team Canada gold medalist, came to terms on a three-year contract.  

    • Also in the PWHL, the New York organisation and Élizabeth Giguère came to terms on a one-year contract.

    • In the final PWHL signing of the day, the PWHL Ottawa franchise and two-time Isobel Cup champion Amanda Boulier agreed to terms on a one year contract.

    • The NHL fined Anaheim Ducks Head Coach Greg Cronin was fined $25,000 for unprofessional conduct directed to officials that was brought on by a game misconduct from Monday’s contest.  The fine will be going into the NHL Foundation.

    Philadelphia Flyers v. Buffalo Sabres – 7p ET

    • In Buffalo the Sabres hosted the Flyers for the first time during the season and in the first Philadelphia got three when Scott Laughton, Louie Belpedio, and Travis Konecny scored. In the second, the Flyers took the 4-0 lead with a Garnet Hathaway goal. Then in the third, Henri Jokiharju got Buffalo on the board but Booby Brink scored the game clincher for Philadelphia as the Flyers breezed by the Sabres for the 5-1 victory.

    New Jersey Devils v. St. Louis Blues – 8p ET

    • In St. Louis, the Blues hosted the Devils for the lone time this season and after a scoreless first, St. Louis got a pair of goals from Jake Neighbours and Kevin Hayes but then New Jersey got on the board with a Curtis Lazar goal. In the third, St. Lois would get a pair of empty net goals from Kevin Hayes and Robert Thomas as the Blues went on to sing to the 4-1 over the Devils.

    Tampa Bay Lightning v. Columbus Blue Jackets – 7p ET

    • In Columbus, the Blue Jackets and Lightning faced off and in the first Kirill Marchenko’s first of the year gave Columbus the 1-0 lead. In the second Tampa tied the contest with Steven Stamkos fourth of the year and then Tampa took the lead with Conor Sheary’s first of the year. In the third, Columbus tied the game with Boone Jenner’s fifth of the year and then Erik Gudbranson struck with his first to put Columbus up 3-2. Then, an empty netter from Johnny Gaudreau gave the Blue Jackets the 4-2 win over the Lightning.

    Florida Panthers v. Detroit Red Wings – 7p ET

    • In Detroit, the Red Wings hosted the Pantherd and after a scoreless first, Steven Lorentz scored his first of the year as Florida took the 1-0 lead. In the second, Anton Lundell’s empty netter, his first goal of the season, gave the Panthers the 2-0 shutout victory over the Red Wings.

In the second, Los Angeles took the 2-0 lead with Carl Grundstrom’s fourth of the year and then Anze Kopitar scored to lift the Kings to the 3-0 lead. Dominik Kubalik then scored a power play goal to put the Senators on the board. In the third, Ottawa’s Josh Norris scored his fourth of the year but the Kings held on to get the 3-2 win over the Senators.

    New York Islanders v. Washington Capitals – 7p ET

    • In the Nation’s Capital, the Capitals hosted the Islanders and in the first New York jumped out to the early 1-0 lead when Ryan Pulock scored his first of the year and then the Isles took the 2-0 with Simon Holmstrom’s second of the year. In the second, Brock Nelson’s fifth gave the New York the 3-0 lead. In the third, Washington seemed to have gotten on the board with a goal from TJ Oshie, but the goal was disallowed after a coach’s challenge for Goaltender Interference. The Islanders then went on to shut out the Capitals for the 3-0 win.

    Toronto Maple Leafs v. Boston Bruins – 730p ET

    • In an Original Six match-up in Boston, the Bruins and Maple Leafs renewed their rivalry and in the first Pavel Zacha’s fourth of the year put Boston up 1-0. In the second, Jake DeBrusk’s first of the year put the B’s up 2-0 but then Toronto got a pair of goals when Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews each got a goal to tie the contest 2-2. After a scoreless third and overtime, the game moved to the shootout where Charlie Coyle scored the winner as the Bruins defeated the Maple Leafs 3-2.

    New Jersey Devils v. Minnesota Wild – 8p ET

    • In the State of Hockey, the Devils and Wild face off for the final time this season and in the first New Jersey got a pair of goals when Alexander Holtz and Michael McLeod scored. In the second, Timo Meier scored a power play goal to put New Jersey up 3-0 but then Kirill Kaprizov scored a power play goal of his own to put Minnesota on the baord. Then, in the third Marco Rossi brought the Wild within a goal but Jesper Bratt scored a power play goal to put the Devils back up two. Jake Middleton then scored his second to cut the New Jersey lead to a goal once more but New Jersey’s Dougie Hamilton fourth sealed the win as the Devils defeated the Wild 5-3.

    News

    • The NHL would name New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes First Star of the Month for October.
      • Elias Pettersson (VAN) and David Pastrnak (BOS) would round out the rest of the Three Stars of the Month.
    • NHL 3 Stars of the Month – Hughes Earns Top Honors for October

    • The NHL announced punishment for the Ottawa Senators.
      • The Ottawa Senators will forfeit a first-round draft pick for their role in the July 2021 trade of Player Evgenii Dadonov from the Senators to the Vegas Golden Knights and the subsequent, invalidated March 2022 Dadonov trade between the Golden Knights and the Anaheim Ducks.
      • Ottawa will forfeit its first-round draft pick in one of the 2024, 2025 or 2026 Drafts.
        • The determination as to which pick will be forfeited will be made by Ottawa within 24 hours of the conclusion of the Draft Lottery for that year.

      • As a result of this punishment handed down by the League, the Senators would announce that Pierre Dorion would resign as General Manager.
      • The Senators would also announce that they have named Steve Staios as Interim General Manager.

    • The Washington Capitals announced that Nicklas Backstrom would be stepping away from the team for health reasons.
      • Backstrom is stepping away due to the hip surgery he had last year, and will be evaluating all of his options.
      • Backstrom has one year left on his contract with an AAV of $9.2 million after this season.

    PWHL News

    • In the PWHL we would have more signings announced.
      • Ottawa would sign forward Hayley Scamurra to a two year deal

      • Ottawa would also announce that they have signed defender Ashton Bell to a three year deal.

      • Minnesota announced that they have signed forward Grace Zumwinkle to a three year deal.

      • Boston would announce the signing of forward Theresa Schafzahl to a two year deal.

      • New York would announce the signing of forward Jade Downie-Landry to a one year deal.

    Buffalo Sabres v. Philadelphia Flyers – 7p ET

    • In Philadelphia the Flyers would play host to the Buffalo Sabres as they play in tribute to the victims of the Lewiston, Maine victims, and in the first period Joel Farabee would strike 55seconds into the game to give the Flyers the 1-0 lead. However, Casey Mittelstadt would score to tie the game at one for the Sabres, and Brandon Biro would score his first career NHL goal for the Sabres to take the 2-1 lead. But before the period would end Cam Atkinson would score to tie the game at two for the Flyers. Then after a scoreless second period Owen Power would score early into the third period, and then Tage Thompson would strike for his fifth of the season and Biro would net his second of the game to give the Sabres the 5-2 victory over the Flyers.

    Dallas Stars v. Calgary Flames – 830p ET

    • In Calgary the Flames would play host to the Dallas Stars, and in the first period Connor Zary would score his first career NHL goal on his first shift in his first career NHL game to give the Flames the 1-0 lead, but in the final minute of the period Jamie Benn would score shorthanded to tie the game at one for the Stars. In the second period Andrew Mangiapane would strike early to give the Flames the 2-1 lead, but Jason Robertson would score to tie the game at two and Evgenii Dadonov and Mason Marchment would score to give the Stars the 4-2 lead. Then in the third period MacKenzie Weegar would score on the powerplay fort he Flames, but the Stars would hold on for the 4-3 victory over Calgary.

    NHL 3 Stars of the Month – Hughes Earns Top Honors for October

    Today the National Hockey League has announced the Stars of the Month for the month of October 2023.

    First Star – Jack Hughes (C – NJ)

    • Jack Hughes earned top honors for October as the NHL would announce him the First Star of the Month for October. Hughes would lead the League in assists with 13 and points with 18 in eight games played for the New Jersey Devils. Hughes would also record five goals for the Devils as they went 5-2-1 for the month of October. Hughes would also be tied for the League lead in powerplay assists (7) and powerplay points (10).

    Second Star – Elias Pettersson (C – VAN)

    • Elias Pettersson would rank second in the NHL as he would record five goals and 11 assists for 16 points in nine games for the Vancouver Canucks. Pettersson would help guide the Canucks to a 6-2-1 October, their best start to a season in nine games since 2005-06. Pettersson would close out the month strong as he would record a hat trick over Nashville on Oct. 31st.

    Third Star – David Pastrnak (RW – BOS)

    • David Pastrnak would record eight goals and six assists for 14 points in nine games played for the Boston Bruins. The Bruins would go 8-0-1 for the month of October, and Pastrnak would record points in seven of his nine games played. Pastrnak would also record a pair of penalty shot goals when he would score on Oct. 14th against Nashville and again on Oct. 28th against Detroit.

    Today the National Hockey League has announced the Rookie of the Month for the month of October 2023.

    • Lukas Dostal’s strong start earns top honors as Rookie of the Month for the month of October in the National Hockey League. Dostal would go 4-1-0 in five games played for the Anaheim Ducks which would also see him record a 2.79 goals against average and a .921 save percentage. Dostal would also factor in all but one of the Ducks victories for the month of October.
      • Dostal would edge out fellow goalie Joseph Woll (TOR), and forwards Ridly Greig (OTT), Connor Bedard (CHI), and Bobby Brink (PHI) for the honor.
      • Dostal would be the first Duck since Trevor Zegras in December 2021 to earn Rookie of the Month honors, and the first Ducks goalie since John Gibson in December 2015 to earn the honor.

    • The NHL Department of Player Safety announced that they have suspended Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy.
      • McAvoy would be suspended for four games for an illegal check to the head of Florida Panthers defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson on Monday night.
      • McAvoy will forfeit $197,916.68 per the terms of the CBA and based on his average annual salary.

    • Forward Paul Stastny retired.
      • As learned on Insider Training on TSN, Pierre Lebrun announced that Stastny retired back in September, and did so quietly.
      • Stastny played in 1,145 games, and played for the Colorado Avalanche, St. Louis Blues, Winnipeg Jets, Vegas Golden Knights, and Carolina Hurricanes over a 17 year career.

    • In the PWHL we would have some more signings to announce.
      • In New York defender Ella Shelton would sign a three year deal.

      • In Toronto forward Maggie Connors would sign a two year deal.

      • In Montreal forward Kristen O’Neill would sign a three year deal.

      • Boston would sign forward Alina Müller to a three year deal.

      • Boston would also sign goaltender Emma Söderberg to a two year deal.

    • In Toronto the Los Angeles Kings would come to town rocking their 90’s inspired alternates as they would take on the Maple Leafs, and in the first period Andreas Englund would open up the scoring for the Kings with his first career NHL goal. Then Phillip Danault would score to grow the Kings lead to two. In the second period Arthur Kaliyev would strike on the powerplay to grow the Kings lead to three. Then in the third period John Tavares would finally get the Leafs on the board with a powerplay goal, but Adrian Kempe would score late into the period to give the Kings the 4-1 victory over the Maple Leafs.

    • In Boston, the Bruins hosted the Panthers and in the first period Aleksander Barkov scored his second of year to put Florida up 1-0 and then Sam Reinhart scored his eighth as the Panthers took the 2-0 lead. In the second, Boston got on the board when Brad Marchand scored his fifth. In the third, Boston tied the contest with Charlie McAvoy’s second of the year. As the contest moved to overtime, Pavel Zacha scored the game winner to give the Bruins the 3-2 win over the Panthers.

In the second, Carolina tied the contest when Michael Bunting scored a power play goal. In the third, Teuvo Teravainen scored his eighth of the year as the Hurricanes defeated the Flyers 3-2.

    Anaheim Ducks v. Pittsburgh Penguins – 7p ET

    • In Pittsburgh, the Ducks made their annual visit to the Steel City to take on the Penguins and in the first Pittsburgh struck first with a goal from Erik Karlsson on the power play but then Anaheim responded with a Jakob Silfverberg goal. In the second, the Ducks took the lead with Frank Vatrano’s ninth of the year on the power play but then Evgeni Malkin scored a power play goal his own to tie the game for the Penguins. In the third, Pittsburgh re-took the lead when Radim Zohorna scored his second of the year but Mason McTavish’s fourth of the year ties the game up for Anaheim once again. Then, McTavish scored the game winner with 13 second left on a shorthanded goal as the Ducks defeated the Penguins 4-3.

    Seattle Kraken v. Tampa Bay Lightning – 7p ET

    • In Tampa, the Kraken visit the Lightning and in the first the Kraken got a pair of goals when Brian Dumoulin and Yanni Gourde scored. But then Tampa got on the board when Tanner Jeannot scored his second of the year but then Kailer Yamamoto scored his second goal on a Kraken power play that gave Seattle the 3-1 lead. In the second, Tampa’s Alex Barré-Boulet scored his third of the year to bring the Bolts within a goal. In the third, Brandon Hagel’s sixth of the year tied the contest for the Lightning. In the overtime period, Jared McCann scored the game winner on a Seattle power play as the Kraken struck down the Lightning for the 4-3 win.

    Detroit Red Wings v. New York Islanders – 730p ET

    • In Long Island, the Islanders host the Red Wings and after the scoreless first, the Islanders got a goal late in the second from Casey Cizikas to take the 1-0 lead. In the third, Noah Dobson scored his third of the year to put New York up 2-0 but then Detroit responded when Daniel Sprong scored his third. Then, the Red Wings tied the game up when Jake Walman scored his second of the year and then J.T. Compher’s second of the year gave Detroit their first lead of the game. Then, Bo Horvat’s fourth of the year tied the contest for the Islanders. In overtime, Lucas Raymond scored his third of the year to give the Red Wings the 4-3 win over the Islanders.

    New York Rangers v. Winnipeg Jets – 730p ET

    • In Winnipeg, the Jets played host to the Rangers and in the first the Rangers struck first with a goal from Artemi Panarin but then Winnipeg tied the contest when David Gustafsson scored his second of the year. After a scoreless second, Nikolaj Ehlers scored his second of the year to give Winnipeg the 2-1 lead but then Chris Kreider’s power play goal tied the contest for the Blueshirts. In overtime, Mika Zibanejad’s second of the year gave the Rangers the 3-2 win over the Jets.

    Columbus Blue Jackets v. Dallas Stars – 8p ET

    • In the Lone Star State, Dallas hosted Columbus and in the first the Stars got on the board with Thomas Harley’s second of the year but the Blue Jackets responded with a pair of goals from Dmitri Voronkov and Damon Severson. In the second, Dallas would tie the contest with Roope Hintz’s third of the year. In the third, Matt Duchene gave the Stars the lead again with his first of the year and then Evgenii Dadonov scored his second as the Stars took the two goal lead. Then the Stars made it a three goal lead when Wyatt Johnston scored his third of the year but Columbus’ Sean Kuraly scored his second of the year. However, the Stars held on as they defeated the Blue Jackets for the 5-3 win.

    Today the National Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of October 23rd through 29th.

    First Star – Tyler Toffoli (RW – NJ)

    • Tyler Toffoli would lead the League in scoring with six goals and an assist for seven points in four games played for the New Jersey Devils. Toffoli would open up the week with a hat trick against Montreal in a 5-2 victory on Oct. 24th, and then on Oct. 25th in a 6-4 loss to Washington he would record two goals and an assist. On Oct. 27th Toffoli would be held off the scoresheet in a 5-4 victory over Buffalo, but on Oct. 29 he would score a goal in a 4-3 victory over Minnesota to close out the week.

    Second Star – Jonas Johansson (G – TB)

    • In two games played for the Tampa Bay Lightning Jonas Johansson would go a perfect 2-0-0 that would see him post back to back shutouts. Johansson would start his week with a 3-0 victory over Carolina that would see him make 32 saves on Oct. 24th. Then to end his week Johansson would make 23 saves in a 6-0 victory over San Jose on Oct. 26th.

    Third Star – Ryan Hartman (RW – MIN)

    • Ryan Hartman would record five goals and two assists for seven points in four games played for the Minnesota Wild. Hartman would open up his week with a hat trick and two assists for five points in a 7-4 victory over Edmonton on Oct. 24th. On Oct. 26th in a 6-2 loss to Philadelphia he would be held scoreless, but on Oct. 27th in a 3-2 shootout loss to Washington he would score one goal. Then to close out his week Hartman would score a goal in a 4-3 loss to New Jersey on Oct. 29th.

    • In Western New York, the Avalanche visited Buffalo to take on the Sabres and in the first JJ Peterka’s fourth of the year puts Buffalo up 1-0. In the second period, Buffalo scored a pair when Casey Mittelstadt got his second and then Tyson Jost struck for his first of the season to give the Sabres the 3-0 lead. Then in the third, Rasmus Dahlin scored an empty net goal as the Sabres shutout the Avalanche 4-0.

    Minnesota Wild v. New Jersey Devils – 5p ET

    • In New Jersey, the Devils hosted the Wild and in the first period both teams traded a pair of goals when Jesper Bratt scored to get New Jersey on the board but then Minnesota’s Pat Maroon scored his first of the year. In the second, Minnesota took the 2-1 lead with a Ryan Hartman power play goal but then Tyler Toffoli scored a power play goal of his own to tie the game for New Jersey. Then, Erik Haula and Jesper Bratt would score to put New Jersey up 4-2. In the third, Minnesota’s Jake Middleton scored his first but the Devils held on to defeat the Wild 4-3.

    San Jose Sharks v. Washington Capitals – 5p ET

    • In Washington, the Capitals welcomed the Sharks to the Nation’s Capital and in the first San Jose took the 1-0 lead when Luke Kunin scored his first of the season. After a scoreless second, Washington tied the game with Dylan Strome’s sixth of the year and then the Caps took the lead with Tom Wilson’s second of the year. Then, Evgeny Kuznetsov scored an empty goal, his first goal of the season, as the Capitals come back and defeat the Sharks for the 3-1 win.

    Calgary Flames v. Edmonton Oilers – 7p ET
    – 2023 NHL Heritage Classic at Commonwealth Stadium

    • In the first Battle of Alberta game of the season, the Oilers hosted the Flames in the Heritage Classic. In the first period, Edmonton struck first with a goal from Brett Kulak and then Zach Hyman scored his third of the year to put the Oilers up 2-0. Then Nazem Kadri scored a power play goal, his first goal of the season, to put the Flames on the board, but Edmonton responded when Evan Bouchard scored his third of the year to give the Oilers the two goal lead back. In the second, AJ Greer scored his first to bring the Flames within a goal. Then as he contest moved to the third, Vincent Desharnais scored of the season to give the Oilers the two goal lead once again and then Evander Kane hits the empty net as the Oilers win the Heritage Classic over the Flames 5-2.
