    NWHL News and Notes – July 11th, 2019

    Today in the NWHL we had two major announcements today.

     

    Forst it was announced that the Boston Pride will be taking on Boston University on Friday, September 27th at 7p EST.

    Then the NWHL announced that they are partnering with the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday, August 16th for street hockey and on-ice clinics at the Brandon Ice Sports Forum.

    Hosting the women’s hockey clinics will be Lightning Made, the Lightning Community Hockey Department that is growing the game at all ages, genders, and levels. Serving as guest coaches representing the NWHL will be Taylor Accursi, a member of the Buffalo Beauts last season, and Mallory Souliotis who will be returning to the Boston Pride next season.

    Today in the NWHL the preseason exhibition game announcements continue.

     

    The Boston Pride will be taking on Northeastern University on Saturday, September 28th at 2p EST.

    Today in the NWHL we were given amazing news in regards to some preseason action that will be taking place this September.

     

    First on July 5th the NWHL announced that the Connecticut Whale will take on the University of Connecticut on Saturday 28th at 3p EST.

    Then this morning the NWHL announced two more preseason games.

     

    First you will have the Metropolitan Riveters take on Long Island University on Saturday September 28th at 745p EST in what will be the first time ever an NWHL team and a D1 Women’s Hockey team play a game on Long Island.

    Then it was announced that the Minnesota Whitecaps will take on the University of Minnesota on Sunday September 22nd at 2p CST.

    Then in NWHL news, it has been announced that the home rink for the Connecticut Whale will be Danbury Arena located in Fairfield County.

    The Whale will hold all of their practices and have all of their home games at Danbury Arena for the 2019-20 season.

  • TXHT Year Five is Coming!!

    TXHT Year Five is Coming!!

    “The Xperience Hockey Talk”… Serious Hockey Talk For Serious Hockey Fans. A motto created during the summer of 2015 and with a vision in mind to grow the game of hockey the right way and by talking about the game of hockey by taking the game seriously and looking at it as a way to help educate the masses on the game.

     

    Here we are now. We’ve finished off our fourth season with preparations for the 2019-20 season, our fifth year of covering hockey, underway.

     

    During these first four years we’ve had many ups and downs, but the vision has remained the same. From being on TauRadio, to WBGR and Twitch, to having TXHTHockey.com. TXHT has grown, and year five will be our biggest yet.

     

    Starting tomorrow we will begin our TXHT Jersey Share series which will be released everyday at 10a EST with a new jersey featured. Then in September our 2019-20 NHL Team previews will be released along with the return of the TXHT Podcast previewing the NHL 2019-20 season.

     

    In regards to our Women’s Hockey coverage, TXHT will be expanding it’s coverage of the National Women’s Hockey League (NWHL). To go along with TXHT’s continual coverage on the podcast, Michael will now be joining Shaggy covering NWHL games and once the 2019-20 schedule is announced we will have a better idea as to how many games we’ll be covering this upcoming season.

     

    Also TXHT will be adding Scott Fairchild who will be covering Washington Capitals games with Michael. Scott will also be doing occasional New Jersey Devils coverage throughout the season. Also Shaggy will be doing occasional Carolina Hurricanes coverage throughout the season as well.

     

    There will be more things that we will be announcing, but those will be announced at a later time, including an idea that was attempted in our second year that we want to bring back.

     

    TXHT is going to be five years old this September, and we can’t wait for the ride to continue this fall. It’s going to be a great year.

    For our final part of the 2018-19 Season Finale for the TXHT Podcast Michael is joined by Nate Oliver as they talk Women’s Hockey and the crazy offseason that it has had this Spring/Summer.

     

    The TXHT Podcast will be returning in September.

    Today in the NWHL the Minnesota White Caps announced that they have re-signed Lisa Martinson for the 2019-20 season.

    Prior to coming to the Whitecaps Martinson played 126 games for St. Cloud State where she posted 19 points (7-12-19) for the Huskies. Martinson’s salary was not disclosed.

     

    All players will partake in the 50 percent cut of revenue from league sponsorship and media deals. Plus they will also receive 15 percent of revenue from apparel sold with their name on it.

    Today in the NWHL both the Boston Pride and Minnesota Whitecaps re-signed players for the 2019-20 season.

     

    First for the Pride they re-signed defender Lauren Kelly to a one year contract.

    Kelly becomes the fifth defender to sign with the Pride for the 2019-20 season. She will also be entering second season with the team.

     

    Then the Whitecaps re-signed Brooke White-Lancette to a one year contract.

    White-Lancette will be entering her second season with the Whitecaps in the NWHL and 16th overall with the franchise.

     

    Both players did not have their salaries disclosed.

    Today in the NWHL the Buffalo Beauts have announced that they have signed highly skilled forward Brooke Stacey from the University of Maine.

    Stacey will be entering her first season in the NWHL and with the Beauts. During her time at the University of Maine, Stacey registered 13 goals and 17 assists for 30 points in 36 games last season. Stacey’s salary was not disclosed.

     

    All players will partake in the 50 percent cut of revenue from league sponsorship and media deals. Plus they will also receive 15 percent of revenue from apparel sold with their name on it.

    Today in the NWHL, we had one announcement today that Boston Pride has re-signed forward McKenna Brand for the 2019-20 season.

    Brand, who will be entering her second season with the Pride and the NWHL, scored 6 goals and 11 assists for 17 points in her rookie season in 2018-19, and ranked fifth overall in scoring in the NWHL. Brand’s salary was not disclosed.

     

    All players will partake in the 50 percent cut of revenue from league sponsorship and media deals. Plus they will also receive 15 percent of revenue from apparel sold with their name on it.

    Today in NWHL news, we had a three big signings for the Buffalo Beauts, Metropolitan Riveters, and Boston Pride this morning.

     

    First up, the Buffalo Beauts have signed goaltender Mariah Fujimagari for the 2019-20 season.

    Fujimagari will be entering her first season in the NWHL after spending the last two seasons in Slovakia (2017-18) and with the Worcester Blades of the now defunct CWHL (2018-19).

     

    Then it was announced that Rebecca Morse has re-signed with the Riveters for her fourth season with the team.

    Morse, who is a New Jersey native and 2018 Isobel Cup Champion, will be bringing her leadership and versatility back to the Riveters for the 2019-20 season.

     

    Lastly to cap off the morning signings, Jillian Dempsey has re-signed with the Pride for the 2019-20 season.

    Dempsey, the captain of the Pride for the past two seasons, is tied for first overall in career NWHL goals (29 – Tied with Madison Packer), and is second all time in points (58) in the NWHL. Dempsey is also a two time NWHL All Star.

     

    All three player’s salaries were not disclosed.
