    There were 13 matchups yesterday in NHL action.

     

     

     

    PHILADELPHIA 5, Edmonton 4 (OT)

    The Philadelphia Flyers took on the Edmonton Oilers in the NHL European Game of the Week and would go on to defeat Edmonton 5-4 in the overtime frame.

     

    Philadelphia’s Nolan Patrick would go on to score the game winner at the 2:01 mark in the overtime frame.

    With this win by the Flyers, they have now won seven games in a row and eight out of their last ten games.

     

    New Jersey 3, MONTREAL 2 (OT)

    The New Jersey Devils would go on to defeat the Montreal Canadiens in overtime thanks to two goals by Nico Hischier, including the game-winner in the overtime frame.

    Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Phillip Danault would be the goal scorers for the Canadiens in this contest.

     

     

    TORONTO 3, Pittsburgh 2

    The Toronto Maple Leafs would take on the Pittsburgh Penguins and would come away with the 3-2 win, after being down 2-0 in the first period.

    Detroit 2, OTTAWA 0

     

    The Detroit Red Wings with this win over the Ottawa Senators would win back to back games.

     

    The Red Wings would score the only two goals in the contest in the first period with no one scoring any goals in the second or third periods.

     

    FLORIDA 3, Vegas 1

    The Vegas Golden Knights would fall to the Florida Panthers, leading to a three game skid.

    With the win by Florida, they now have a record of 21-21-8 on the season, good for 50 points.

     

    NY ISLANDERS 4, Los Angeles 2

    The New York Islanders would go on to double up the Los Angeles Kings with a 4-2 win.  Ryan Pulock would go on to have a three assist night, notching all three assists in the third period.

     

     

     

    St. Louis 4, COLUMBUS 2

    With the 4-2 loss to the St. Louis Blues, the Columbus Blue Jackets would go on to split the season series.

     

    St. Louis Vladimir Tarasenko would go on to register one goal and two assists in the contest.

     

     

    WINNIPEG 9, Anaheim 3

    The Winnipeg Jets throttled the Anaheim Ducks with a 9-3 win, and giving the Jets 70 points thus far on the season.

    Winnipeg’s Jack Roslovic would go on to register a hat trick in this contest, his first career hat trick.

     

    With the 9-3 loss, the Ducks have lost their last three games and have a record of 2-6-2 in their last ten contests.

    TAMPA BAY 3, NY Rangers 2

    In a hard fought contest the Tampa Bay Lightning would go on to defeat the New York Rangers with a 3-2 win at Madison Square Garden last night.

     

     

    Dallas 3, NASHVILLE 1

    The Dallas Stars would go on to win their fourth straight contest with the 3-1 win over the Nashville Predators last night.

    Despite being tied going into the third period, the Nashville Predators would fall to the Stars.

    There were eight contests in the NHL last night.

     

    Chicago 7, BUFFALO 3

     

    The Chicago Blackhawks would go onto defeat the Buffalo Sabres with a decisive 7-3 win in Buffalo last night.

     

     

     


    Nashville 4, FLORIDA 1

     

    The Nashville Predators would go on to defeat the Florida Panthers with a 4-1 win.  Nashville’s Viktor Arvidsson would score twice to join the 20 goal plateau on the season.

     

     


    Tampa Bay 1, NY ISLANDERS 0 (SO)

     

     


    PITTSBURGH 5, Ottawa 3

     


    WASHINGTON 4, Calgary 3

    The Washington Capitals, fresh off the All-Star break and the bye week, would take on the Calgary Flames and defeat Calgary by the score of 4-3.  With this win by Washington, they would snap their seven-game losing streak.

    DETROIT 3, Toronto 2 (OT)

    In a pre-game ceremony last night prior to the face-off between the Detroit Red Wings and the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Red Wings would retire Red Kelly’s number to the rafters at Little Caesars Arena in downtown Detroit.

     

    The Detroit Red Wings would go on to defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs by the score of 3-2 in overtime.

    CAROLINA 5, Vegas 2

    The Vegas Golden Knights would fall after their bye week to the Carolina Hurricanes with a 5-2 loss in Carolina last night.

     

    DALLAS 3, Minnesota 1

     

    In this contest, the Dallas Stars would defeat the Minnesota Wild 3-1.  With this win by the Stars, they have now won their last three games.

     

     

    Stars F Tyler Seguin would score twice, and join one of 45 players this season to have at least 20 goals on the season.  This would be his sixth straight season to have at least 20 goals.

    There are two games taking place today in the NWHL.

    This week’s NWHL Twitter Game of the Week puts the Buffalo Beauts against the Metropolitan Riveters at the RWJBarnabas Health Hockey House at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.

     

    The other NWHL game today pits the Connecticut Whale against the Boston Pride.

    This is your NHL recap for Tuesday, January 22nd, 2019.

     

    There were four games on the NHL schedule yesterday.

     

     

    Nashville 4, COLORADO 1

    The Nashville Predators would take on the Colorado Avalanche in a matinee affair and would come away with the 4-1 over the Avalanche.

    With the win for Nashville, Head Coach Peter Laviolette would get his 600th career win.  He would be the third head coach on the season to get his 600th career win this season.

     

    There would be four different goal scorers for the Predators, one of them being Nick Bonino.  Bonino would go on to score his 100th career goal in this contest.

     

    LOS ANGELES 4, St. Louis 3

    The Los Angeles Kings would take on the St. Louis Blues and would come away with the 4-3 win.

    With the win by the Kings, goaltender Jonathan Quick would get his 302nd career win, now the fourth most amongst all United States-born goaltenders in NHL history.

    Also, the Kings would get their second win on the season in which they have been behind by two goals at any point in the game.

     

     

    It would be a back and forth contest between both teams and St. Louis would mount a valiant effort but would not be successful in coming back to beat Los Angeles.

     

    Minnesota 4, VEGAS 2

    The Minnesota Wild would move to a record of 4-0-1 in the last five contests against the Vegas Golden Knights when they would double up Vegas by the score of 4-2.

    With Mikko Koivu’s goal in this contest, he now has 200 goals for his career and joins his brother who has 255 to be the 14th set of brothers to have at least 200 regular-season career goals.

     

    FLORIDA 6, San Jose 2

    The Florida Panthers would win their third straight game as they would score four goals in the third period to defeat the San Jose Sharks 6-2.

    Florida’s Frank Vatrano would be the third player in franchise history to have four points in a contest and the first player to do so in since October 30, 2009 (Steve Reinprecht).

     

     

    The Panthers scored two goals in nine seconds or less in the third period and scored those two goals in nine seconds or less for the fifth time in franchise history.

     

     

    San Jose would have a good first two periods of hockey before everything came apart when goaltender Martin Jones would allow three goals on eight shots before being replaced by Aaron Dell with 12:38 left in the game.

     

     

    In NHL news…

     

    The NHL announced the Three Stars of the Week yesterday for the week ending January 19th.

     

    The Carolina Hurricanes and Teuvo Teravainen agreed to a 5 year/$27 million contract extension yesterday.

     

    The NHL Central Scout released the midterm rankings for the 2019 NHL Draft yesterday.

    There were 11 contests on the NHL schedule yesterday.

     

     

     

    Anaheim 3, NEW JERSEY 2

     

    In the first contest of the day, the Anaheim Ducks took on the New Jersey Devils in the NHL European Game of the Week.  The Ducks, after getting their first win after losing twelve straight contests on Thursday night, would defeat New Jersey by the score of 3-2.

    For the New Jersey Devils, they enter their bye week having lost their last three games and seven out of the last ten.

     

    COLORADO 7, Los Angeles 1

     

    The Colorado Avalanche took on the Los Angeles Kings and would soundly defeat the Kings thanks to six goals in the second period and would go on to win this contest by the score of 7-1.

     

     

    This would also be a heavily-filled penalty contest for the Kings, who amassed eight penalties in the contest.  Five of the eight penalties would come in the third period alone.

     

    NY Rangers 3, BOSTON 2

     

    Philadelphia 5, MONTREAL 2

    There would be four different scores for the Philadelphia Flyers in the contest and two different scorers for the Montreal Canadiens in this contest.

     

    Montreal’s Brendan Gallagher would lead all skaters for the Canadiens with eight shots on goal, but would not score on any of those shots.

     

     

    For the Flyers, goaltender Carter Hart would have 35 saves in the contest.  Hart has a record of 6-5-1 in those 12 contests.

     

     

    TAMPA BAY 6, San Jose 3

    Tampa Bay’s Steven Stamkos would go on to have a two goal, one assist performance and help the Lightning defeat the San Jose Sharks by the score of 6-3.

     

     

    San Jose Sharks Evander Kane would also have a two goal performance and Marcus Sorensen would become the eighth player for the Sharks this season to have at least ten goals.

     

    ST. LOUIS 3, Ottawa 2

    St. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington would become the sixth different goaltender in Blues history to have at least a point in at least their first five contests.

     

     

    DALLAS 4, Winnipeg 2

    The Dallas Stars would take on the Winnipeg Jets and double up the Jets 4-2.

     

    In this contest for Dallas, there would be four different goal scorers in the contest.

    The Jets would not score until the third period and would fight to come back but it would still not be enough.

     

     

    Florida 4, NASHVILLE 2

     

    Nashville’s Nick Bonino and Auston Watson would score the goals for the Predators in this contest.

     

    MINNESOTA 2, Columbus 1

     

    Minnesota’s Zach Parise would score one of the two goals, his 20th on the season, in a hard fought battle between both teams in the contest.

    Columbus Blue Jackets Artemi Panarin would score the lone goal for the Blue Jackets in this contest.

     

    Calgary 5, EDMONTON 2

     

    Edmonton’s Jesse Puljujarvi would notch two assists, with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Milan Lucic notching the only two goals for the Oilers in this contest.

     

     

    VEGAS 7, Pittsburgh 3

     

    Vegas Golden Knights Jonathan Marchessault became the second different player to record hat tricks for the franchise.  Marchessault joins William Karlsson, who has two hat tricks with the franchise.

    In the lone NWHL of the day, the Connecticut Whale took on the Minnesota Whitecaps.

     

    MINNESOTA WHITECAPS 2, Connecticut Whale 0

     

    Minnesota Allie Thunstrom and Hannah Brandt scored the two goals for the Whitecaps in a hard fought battle for both sides.

    Minnesota’s win put them back in first place in the NWHL standings with a record of 9-4-0 on the season

     

    The game was scoreless until toward the end of the second period when Allie Thunstrom scored her third goal on the season.  The goals were assisted by  Brooke White-Lancette and  Chelsey Brodt Rosenthal. 

    Minnesota’s second goal was scored by Hannah Brandt, her fifth on the season.  Brandt’s goal would be assisted by Amy Menke and Kendall Coyne Shofield.

     

    Connecticut Whale goaltender Meeri Räisänen would go on to have a 29 save performance in the contest and would have more phenomenal saves throughout the contest.

     

    This contest ended up being the Whitecaps “You Can Play” game in which all Whitecaps players donned jersey with rainbow numbers and accents. The You Can Play Project is an initiative that emphasizes equality and respect in sport, particularly for LGBTQ+ individuals.

     

    Today there is only one contest in the NWHL.  The Minnesota Whitecaps will be hosting their last home game of the regular season.  The game will be available to watch on NWHL.zone/watch

     

    The game that was to take place between the Metropolitan Riveters and the Boston Pride has been postponed to a date to be determined.

    There were six contests in action yesterday.

     

     

     

    Colorado 6, TORONTO 3

    Colorado Avalanche’s Carl Soderberg would record a hat trick and in doing so would become the fourth player to have a hat trick in Avalanche/Quebec Nordiques history against the Maple Leafs.

     

    Colorado would go on to win the contest by the score of 6-3.

    The Maple Leafs were down 3-2 at the end of the 2nd period but a comeback would not be in the cards as Toronto would fall to the Avalanche 6-3.

    St. Louis 4, WASHINGTON 1

    Washington Capitals F Alex Ovechkin would score his 33rd goal of the season and would tie Dave Andreychuk for 14th place all time on the NHL’s goal list and score his 237th power-play goal.  With the power-play goal, he now has sole possession of sixth place.

     

    Washington would end up falling flat, allowing the Blues to score four unanswered goals and the Capitals would fall to the Blues by the score of 4-1.

     

    Washington’s Brooks Orpik would also go on to play in his 1,000th NHL game in this contest.

     

    St. Louis Blues David Perron would score his 16th goal on the season and in doing so he would become the first player to have at least a point in at least 11 consecutive games since Alexander Steen.

    NEW JERSEY 8, Chicago 5

    The New Jersey Devils exploded for eight goals and would go on to defeat the Chicago Blackhawks by the score of 8-5.  The Devils are 4-1-0 in their last five home contests.

     

    Chicago’s Brent Seabrook would score his 100th career goal in this contest.

     

     

     

    Montreal 3, BOSTON 2 (OT)

     

    The Montreal Canadiens would face off against their rival, the Boston Bruins, and would come away with the 3-2 win in overtime.

     

    Montreal’s Jeff Petry would score the game winner, just 15 seconds into the overtime frame.

     

     

    PHILADELPHIA 7, Minnesota 4

    The Philadelphia Flyers would face off against the Minnesota Wild and they would come away with the 7-4 win.

     

    The Flyers James van Riemsdyk would net a hat trick and Wayne Simmonds and Nolan Patrick would both have two goals each in the contest.

    EDMONTON 7, Buffalo 2

    Edmonton’s Milan Lucic would have two goals in the contest and help the Edmonton Oilers crush the Buffalo Sabres 7-2.  This would be Lucic’s first multi-goal game in nearly two years.

    Edmonton goaltender Mikko Koskinen would have 41 saves in the game, good for a .953 save percentage.  Five other skaters would score in an overall good offensive effort for the Oilers.

    Boston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask would register his 250th career win as well as his 42nd career shutout.  Rask is two wins shy of tying the franchise record for wins by a goaltender, currently held by Tiny Thompson.

    The Pittsburgh Penguins would end up scoring two shorthanded goals in this contest  in the second period en route to a 5-1 win over the Florida Panthers last night.

    Penguins C Sidney Crosby would score his 20th goal on the season and with that goal, Crosby has scored at least 20 goals in 12 seasons on his career.

     

    Florida’s Aaron Ekblad would score the lone goal for the Panthers and when he did, he would become the top goal scorer among defenceman in Panthers history.

    With Montreal’s 3-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings last night, this would mark the second straight win for the Canadiens over the Red Wings.

    Tampa Bay’s Nikita Kucherov would become the first player to reach 70 points in the first 43 games of a season since Jaromir Jagr in the 1999-2000 season, who did that in 38 games played.

    WASHINGTON 5, Philadelphia 3

    The Washington Capitals would go on to defeat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3 to notch their first win at home in the year 2019.

    Between both teams, there would be the 27th instance in League history when the Capitals and Flyers would score two goals in four seconds or less.

     

    TJ Oshie would register his 200th NHL goal in this contest when he scored at the 9:19 mark in the second period.

    Stars Tyler Seguin would score two goals and goaltender Ben Bishop would have 26 saves in the contest as they would take down the St. Louis Blues by the score of 3-1.

    Over the last four games, Seguin has registered three, two-goal contests.

    Dallas’ Miro Heiskanen registered his 20th point on the season in the contest and marked the fifth time in the past six seasons in which multiple teenage defenceman have had at least 20+ points in a season.

    Despite outshooting the Stars 27-17, St. Louis would not be able to mount the comeback.

    Nashville goaltender Pekka Rinne would have an 18 save performance and Toronto’s goaltender Michael Hutchinson would have a 28 save performance on 32 attempts.

    St. Louis 3, PHILADELPHIA 0

     

    St. Louis Blues goaltender in this game, Jordan Binnington, would become the 35th different goalie in NHL history to record a shutout in his first career NHL start and the second to have a shutout in a debut joining Rich Parent back on January 26th, 1999.

     

    Minnesota 1, MONTREAL 0

    In a very ugly and penalty-filled game, the Minnesota Wild would go on to defeat the Montreal Canadiens by the score of 1-0.

    Minnesota’s Nick Seeler would be assessed a two-minute instigator, a five-minute major for fighting, as well as a 10-minute misconduct penalty and Montreal’s Kenny Agostino would be duelled out a five minute major for interference, a five minute major for fighting, as well as a 10-minute game misconduct penalty.

     

    This major chain of events came off of the two-minute interference penalty when Agostino was called for interference on Minnesota’s Eric Fehr.

     

    With the Wild’s win, this would be Devan Dubnyk’s second shutout on the season and the 38th for his career.

    Also with this win, this would be Minnesota’s ninth consecutive win against the Canadiens, matching franchise records for longest win streaks against an opponent.

    Calgary 4, CHICAGO 3

    Calgary Flames Johnny Gaudreau would have a two-goal performance, continuing his hot streak and help the Flames take down the Chicago Blackhawks by the score of 4-3.

    The Flames would also become the first team to have four players with at least 50 points in their first 45 games of a season since the 1995-96 Pittsburgh Penguins with Ron Francis, Mario Lemieux, Jaromir Jagr and Toms Sandstrom.

     

    Chicago’s goalscorers would be Patrick Kane with his 24th goal on the season, Alex DeBrincat with his 20th goal of the season and Brandon Saad would score on the power play late in the third period with his 12th goal of the season, however that would not be enough as the Blackhawks would fall 4-3.

     

    SAN JOSE 3, Los Angeles 1

    San Jose Sharks D Erik Karlsson would register an assist in his 13th consecutive game and would be one of only six other players to do so.  Karlsson would go on to have three assists in the contest.

    The San Jose Sharks would go on to defeat the Los Angeles Kings last night by the score of 3-1.

    In NHL News…

     

    Yesterday the NHL announced the Three Stars of the Week (week ending January 6th)

    The first star went to Calgary Flames Johnny Gaudreau, who had an 11 point week in four games played.  Included was a back-to-back four-point performance which had not happened for a Flames player since Doug Gilmour back in November of 1988.

    The second star of the week went to San Jose Sharks Brent Burns.  Burns had a nine-point week across three multi-point outings over the weeks and leads the NHL among all defenceman for points with 47 points in 43 games played.

     

    The third star of the week would go to New York Islanders goaltender Robin Lehner.  Lehner would go 3-0-0 during the week and has a record of 7-0-0 since December 18th.  Lehner would become the fourth different Islanders goaltender to have a personal win streak of at least seven games and is the first the 2014-15 season when Jaroslav Halak had a similar mark.

     

     

    NWHL

     

    This week the NWHL announced co-players of the week.  Buffalo Beauts goaltender Shannon Szabados and Metropolitan Riveters Madison Packer were named the VEDA Co-Players of the Week.

    Szabados had a 30 save performance in the Beauts 5-0 shutout win over the Boston Pride on Saturday.  That contest was scoreless for the first 25 minutes until Buffalo opened up the scoring.  Szabados would also go on to have miraculous saves in the contest.

    Packer, in Sunday’s contest against the Connecticut Whale, had one goal and three assists to close out the regular-season series between the Riveters and Whale.  The Riveters had a six-goal outburst in the contest to give Metropolitan a 6-3 win.  Packer, a four-year veteran of the NWHL, led the league in goals last season and she will be playing in the NWHL All-Star Game next month in Nashville.

    The Calgary Flames would come from behind to defeat the Philadelphia Flyers yesterday afternoon with the 3-2 overtime win.  TJ Brodie would score the game winner for the Flames at the 1:59 mark in the extra frame.  Matthew Tkachuk would even the score at the 15:43 mark.  Tkachuk would also assist on Brodie’s overtime game-winner.

    Minnesota 4, OTTAWA 3

    Minnesota’s Jared Spurgeon would end up having a two goal performance and would help the Wild defeat the Ottawa Senators with the 4-3 win yesterday afternoon.

    The scoring would not start until 54 seconds left in the first period when Ottawa’s Matt Duchene would score his 17th goal on the season.

     

     

    BOSTON 2, Buffalo 1

    Boston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask would have a 31 save performance while David Backes and Chris Wagner would both score as the Bruins would go on to defeat the Buffalo Sabres 2-1.  This would be Boston’s fourth consecutive victory.

     

     

     

    Buffalo’s lone goal scorer would be Rasmus Ristolainen at the 17:22 mark in the third period.  Buffalo goaltender Linus Ullmark would have 39 saves on 41 attempts in this contest.

     

     

     

    TORONTO 5, Vancouver 0

    The Toronto Maple Leafs would have a very strong performance in this contest as the Maple Leafs would defeat the Vancouver Canucks 5-0.  There would be five different goal scorers for the Maple Leafs in the contest.

    John Tavares would open up the scoring in the first period with his 27th goal of the season.

    Auston Matthews would score his 20th goal on the season in the third period and with that goal, he would be the first player in Maple Leafs history since the 1993-94 season to have 20 goals in fewer than 27 personal games played on the season.

    Maple Leafs goaltender Michael Hutchinson would have a 28 save performance in this contest.

    Montreal Canadiens Shea Weber would score his second career goal against the Nashville Predators but it would not be enough for Montreal as they would fall to the Predators by the score of 4-1.

    Nashville’s Craig Smith would play a big factor as he would score twice in this contest.

     

    With this win, Nashville would extend their point streak to four consecutive games.

     

    Columbus 4, FLORIDA 3 (OT)

    For the Florida Panthers, Keith Yandle would get his 500th NHL career point.  However, the Florida Panthers would fall to the Columbus Blue Jackets by the score of 4-3 in overtime.

    Also, Florida’s MacKenzie Weegar would play in his 100th NHL contest last night.

    The Columbus Blue Jackets would net their seventh consecutive win over the Florida Panthers in this contest and Seth Jones would net the game-winner 18 seconds into the the overtime frame.

    NY Islanders 4, ST. LOUIS 3

    The New York Islanders would score twice in 11 seconds to seal the come from behind win and the Islanders would go on to defeat the St. Louis Blues to notch their  sixth consecutive win.

     

    All across the scoresheet, there would be seven different goal scorers (four for the Islanders, three for the Blues) in a statistical filled game.

     

    LOS ANGELES 4, Edmonton 0

    Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick would notch his 300th career NHL win, good fior fifth place all time for most wins by a U.S.-born goaltender.

     

     

     

    SAN JOSE 5, Tampa Bay 2

    The San Jose Sharks would snap the seven game win streak and the 16 game point streak for the Tampa Bay Lightning with their 5-2 win last night in San Jose.  Evander Kane would factor in this contest, scoring two goals for the Sharks.

    Yesterday’s NWHL game featured the Boston Pride taking on the Buffalo Beauts in the NWHL Twitter Game of the Week

     

    In a contest with meaningful standings points, the Buffalo Beauts would take down the NWHL-leading Boston Pride with a 5-0 win yesterday afternoon.

    Buffalo’s Dani Camersani would score twice in the contest and Kelly Babstock would net her first goal as a member of the Beauts to have a two-point performance in the contest.

    Maddie Elia would go on to have two assists in the contest herself.  Buffalo Beauts goaltender Shannon Szabados would have a 30 save performance in the contest and Boston’s goaltender Katie Burt would have a 35 save performance of her own.  Brittany Ott would allow the Beauts fifth goal in the contest.

    Both Szabados and Burt would have miraculous saves throughout this contest as well. however it would not be enough on Boston’s side.

    In the second period, the Beauts would have to kill off a major penalty when Emily Pfalzer was issued a five minute major penalty as well as a 10 minute game misconduct for a checking from behind penalty at the 3:26 mark.

    Toward the end of the second period, Boston’s Kaleigh Fratkin would be assessed a tripping minor at the 19:15 mark.

    The Minnesota Wild would take on the Toronto Maple Leafs yesterday afternoon in the “Next Gen Game” in Toronto and the Maple Leafs would fall to the Wild by the score of 4-3.

    Toronto’s Mitch Marner would open up the scoring in the first seven seconds of the contest.  With that goal, he tied a mark set back in 1932 for the quickest goal by a Maple Leaf in the storied history of the Maple Leafs franchise.

     

     

     

     

     

    Mitch Marner would score again at the 5:38 mark in the contest and became the first Maple Leaf player to have two goals in the opening six minutes of the contest since Phil Kessel achieved the same feat back on January 30th, 2010.

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    William Nylander would net the final goal for the Maple Leafs, his first of the season, at the 8:16 mark in the second period.

     

    Despite playing a strong first six minutes in this contest, Toronto would virtually fall flat for the duration of the contest with costly turnovers and being outshot the entire game.  On four Power-Play chances for Toronto, they would fail to take advantage of the extra-man on all four chances.

    The Boston Bruins, fresh off their win against the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2019 Winter Classic two days ago, would continue their winning ways with the 6-4 win over the Calgary Flames on home ice last night.

     

    For Calgary, they would register a League-high 13th shorthanded goal and this would be the ninth time that they would register at least 13 shorthanded goals in a season.
