Ruggiero, Buffalo State’s captain and leading scorer, has spent her entire life in the Buffalo hockey scene. This will be Ruggiero’s first season with the Beauts and in the NWHL.

Then for the Whale they would re-sign another core player from last season as Sarah Hughson will be returning for the 2019-20 season.

Hughson, who is entering her second season with both the Whale and in the NWHL, played in 12 games last season for the Whale.

All players will partake in the 50 percent cut of revenue from league sponsorship and media deals. Plus they will also receive 15 percent of revenue from apparel sold with their name on it.

TXHT Jersey Share – Kicking Ice

Ladies and Gentlemen it is time for another edition of TXHT Jersey Share as we take a look at this Kickstarter exclusive jersey for the graphic novel “Kicking Ice” by Stephanie Phillips.

    Kicking Ice Front.jpg

The Kicking Ice jersey is a special one for me. I got it as part of the Kickstarter campaign for the graphic novel which is about young girls working to become professional hockey players.

    Kicking Ice Back

It’s a basic jersey, but basic works good for this one as the sole focus is on the logo and the color scheme compliments it nicely. The color scheme also works very well for the name and numbers on the back.

If you’d like to buy a copy of the Kicking Ice graphic novel, you can purchase it here.

Today in the NWHL both the Buffalo Beauts and the Connecticut Whale added to their rosters for the 2019-20 season.

First with the Beauts, they signed forward Cassidy MacPherson to a one year deal.

    IMG_20190806_095204

MacPherson is a strong two way forward who played for Providence in 146 games from 2015 to 2019. She would record 25 goals and 53 assists for 78 points. This will be MacPherson’s first season both with the Beauts and in the NWHL.

Then the Whale would re-sign forward Kayla Meneghin to a one year deal.

TXHT Jersey Share – Going to Need a Bigger Boat

Ladies and Gentlemen we’re going to need a bigger boat as we we’ve caught us a large one with this JAWS themed jersey by Geeky Jerseys.

    Sharks Geeky Front.jpg

Not going to lie, but when I was still playing for the Street Sharks I really wanted to wear this as an alternate jersey because it is such a beautiful jersey and it worked in regards to the team I was playing for at the time. But anywho, when you look at this jersey it really does give you a JAWS feel as the creater did a great job of naming the team the “Amity Island Sharks” which is a really nice spin on it, plus it brings the irony that a location would name their team after the very thing that is tormenting them.

    Sharks Geeky Back.jpg

As for the jersey itself the overall look is unique. The color scheme works perfectly, and the fact that the red gives a blood effect is really cool. The Shoulder patches are honestly better than the center crest, and the names and numbers being done in blood is a really nice touch. Super awesome jersey by our friends at Geeky Jerseys once again.

    Pelletier_TW_large

Pelletier, who is 4 feet and 11 inches, played 143 games for the University of New Hampshire where she had 13 goals and 39 assists for 52 points. This will be Pelletier’s first season in the NWHL and with the Beauts.

    IMG_20190805_093026.jpg

Richards, who played for the Metropolitan Riveters in her rookie season last year, scored 8 goals tying Madison Packer for the team lead, and will be going to the Whitecaps where she will be closer to home.

All players will partake in the 50 percent cut of revenue from league sponsorship and media deals. Plus they will also receive 15 percent of revenue from apparel sold with their name on it.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – Time to Rock Out!

TXHT Jersey Share – Time to Rock Out!

Today the TXHT Jersey Share series is rocking out with this killer Motorhead hockey jersey.

    Motorhead Front.jpg

So I’ll openly say it. I’m a huge Motorhead fan, and when the band released this jersey on their website I hopped on it immediately. Only regrets I have is that I never got to see Motorhead perform live, and that I never got to meet Lemmy. Came close, but was 8 months too late in regards to my trip to Los Angeles.

    Motorhead Back

So on the front of the jersey you have the Motorhead Warpig logo, and on the back “Motorhead” with the number 75. The 75 represents the year the band formed which was 1975. Also given how the band is now based in the Los Angeles area, they used the Kings home jersey as the base for their jersey which also works really well for this jersey. Less is more definitely works here.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – Special Fan Submission

TXHT Jersey Share – Special Fan Submission

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, we have a very special edition of TXHT Jersey Share as we have a fan submission to the series from Joshua Benkin.

Joshua: I have a Baltimore Skipjacks red road jersey when Abe Pollin’s Centre Management group ran the Baltimore Arena, as a part of the agreement the AHL team there became the Caps (Washington Capitals) top affiliate and the (Washington) Bullets (of the NBA) returned to play 4 games a year.

Here’s a video of the jersey history of Baltimore Minor League hockey:

    Carlson__17_Baltimore_Skipjacks_Retro_New_Men_Hockey_Jersey_Red_-_1

Here is the Baltimore Skipjacks Road jersey when Abe Pollin managed the Baltimore (now Royal Farms) arena and they were a Caps affiliate.  Before the Caps were established my Dad and I went up to Baltimore to see the Clippers play AHL hockey.   The three main teams to play there were the Clippers, then in the late 90s, for a half season, the WHA Michigan Stags became the Blades which were a league owned place holder team and folded at season end.   Then the new Clippers came in and later had to change name to Skipjacks due to copyrights.  The last they had was the first pro team in that town to wear purple, the Bandits which were a (Anaheim Mighty) Ducks affiliate.

Thank you Joshua for your submission, and your story about the your Skipjacks jersey. Both pictures are courtesy of Joshua Benkin.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – It’s a Beaut-y

    TXHT Jersey Share – It’s a Beaut-y

It’s the ladies turn on TXHT Jersey Share as we take a look at our first Women’s Hockey jersey with the Buffalo Beauts of the NWHL.

    Beauts Inaugural 2015 Front.jpg

This is from the NWHL’s inaugural season in 2015-16, and this also marks the Beauts lone Gray jersey that they’ve worn in their team history. For the player I selected was Hayley Williams. Little known fact, but Hayley was a regular on the first season of the TXHT Podcast, and even co-hosted some episodes after the NWHL season concluded.

    Beauts Inaugural 2015 Back

Going back to the jersey, I really like the names underneath the jersey numbers. Really cool concept, and one that is done over in Europe too. Overall a really cool jersey, and an awesome piece of history.

  • TXHT Jersey Share – Ovi the Rookie

TXHT Jersey Share – Ovi the Rookie

Today on TXHT Jersey Share we take a look at this replica jersey that was purchased during Alex Ovechkin’s rookie season with the Washington Capitals.

Capitals Ovechkin Home Black 2006 Front.jpg

So without a doubt it’s virtually impossible to go to a Capitals game without seeing a few thousand Ovechkin jerseys in the red, white, and blue (navy), but it’s a little less for the original jerseys the Capitals were wearing when Ovechkin came into the League, but that’s also not surprising being how the majority of the people jumped on the bandwagon once the Capitals started going to the playoffs once they went back to rocking the red.

Capitals Ovechkin Home Black 2006 Back

This jersey is a true gem. I’m glad I was able to purchase this when I did, and this is still the only alex Ovechkin jersey that I own.
