Leafs dominated much of this period, outshooting out chancing but Howard held down the fort for Detroit. Toronto needs to get a cycle going and some pressure and traffic in front of Howard. But all in all a great opening period.

Need to Do:

The Leafs need to be better in the faceoff circle only winning 8 of 19 faceoffs. Keep the pressure on.

Leafs played the best period of the season. Solid defence, controlled the flow of the game and capitalized on all their opportunities.

 

Need to Do:

Leafs need to stay on attack. Do not play the trap in the 3^rd.

The Leafs offence showed up again, but the defence almost let them down again. The defence needs to find a way to play a more solid game or else they will give games away.
