Analysis:
Leafs dominated much of this period, outshooting out chancing but Howard held down the fort for Detroit. Toronto needs to get a cycle going and some pressure and traffic in front of Howard. But all in all a great opening period.
Need to Do:
The Leafs need to be better in the faceoff circle only winning 8 of 19 faceoffs. Keep the pressure on.

Wings Penalty – 6:03 – Liber Sulak, 2 minutes for Tripping

Analysis:
Leafs played the best period of the season. Solid defence, controlled the flow of the game and capitalized on all their opportunities.
Need to Do:
Leafs need to stay on attack. Do not play the trap in the 3rd.
Third Period:
Detroit Goal – 10:18 –  Nick Jensen (2) from Luke Glendening (1) and Anthony Mantha (1)
Wings Penalty – 11:01 – Danny DeKeyser, 2 minutes for Holding
Leafs Goal PPG – 11:11 –  Auston Matthews (9) from John Tavares (3) and Mitch Marner (8)
Leafs Penalty – 11:50– Ron Hainsey, 2 minutes for Tripping
Leafs Penalty – 15:38 – Martin Marincin, 2 minutes for High Sticking

Analysis:
The Leafs offence showed up again, but the defence almost let them down again. The defence needs to find a way to play a more solid game or else they will give games away.
